Some scientists believe that there will be more earthquakes in 2018 because of a slight slowing of the Earth’s rotation:<\/p>\n

Every so often, the Earth\u2019s rotation slows by a few milliseconds per day. This is inconsequential to the average human, and causes only mild annoyance to the people whose job it is to measure Earth\u2019s rotation with great precision.<\/p>\n

That may be about to change, if the hypothesis set out by two geologists proves true. In a study published in Geophysical Research Letters<\/a> earlier this year, Roger Bilham of the University of Colorado and Rebecca Bendick of the University of Montana predict that, because of Earth\u2019s slowing rotation, the world will see a significant spike in large earthquakes in 2018.<\/p>\n

To make this prediction, Bilham and Bendick studied every earthquake since 1900 that recorded more than 7.0 on the moment magnitude scale<\/a>. They found that approximately every 32 years, there is an uptick in these large quakes. The only factor that strongly correlates is a slight slowing of the Earth\u2019s rotation in a five-year period before the uptick.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course that seems sort of crazy,\u201d Bendick told Science<\/a>. But think through it a little and it might not seem so outlandish. The Earth\u2019s rotation is known to go through regular decades-long periods in which it slows down and speeds up. Even seasonal changes, like a strong El Ni\u00f1o, can affect the planet\u2019s rotation.<\/p>\n

But to have the kind of effect that would produce more severe earthquakes, we have to look deeper. Starting from its very center, the planet is made of a solid iron and nickel \u201cinner core,\u201d liquid iron and nickel \u201couter core,\u201d a thick liquid mantle, and finally a thin solid crust. Earthquakes occur on the crust, but the crust floats on the mantle.<\/p>\n

Though Bilham and Bendick don\u2019t know for sure, they believe that every so often the Earth\u2019s mantle might stick a little more to the crust. That could change how the liquid outer core flows. And because it\u2019s all metal down there, the change in flow will affect planet\u2019s magnetic field, which would ever so slightly affect the Earth\u2019s rotation and thus change the length of the day by milliseconds. The Earth\u2019s rotation has been slowing down for the past four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe inference is clear,\u201d Bilham told the Guardian<\/a>. \u201cNext year we should see a significant increase in numbers of severe earthquakes.\u201d Instead of an average of about 15-20 large earthquakes, we might see 25 or 30 in 2018. https:\/\/qz.com\/1133304\/as-earths-rotation-slows-2018-could-see-a-spike-in-large-earthquakes\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

US geoscientists consider it very likely that in 2018, or perhaps in the next few years, there will be a significant increase in the number of strong earthquakes around the world. Their prediction is based on the periodic slowdown in Earth\u2019s speed of rotation around its axis, which minimizes daylight.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Having more significant earthquakes is consistent with Jesus’ prediction. Jesus listed earthquakes as part of the signs that precede the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:4-21; see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? 2017, 2018, or 2019?<\/a>) and told His followers to watch.<\/p>\n

Places in the USA to watch which have massive danger potential include the New Madrid Fault, Yellowstone,\u00a0Cascadia Subduction Zone, and the San Andreas Fault.<\/p>\n

Of course, anywhere around the Pacific Ocean, which is sometimes called the Pacific Rim of Fire, is at risk. As are places like Iceland, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, the South Pacific, Australia, and even parts of Africa. As well as places in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Yet, since Jesus mentioned earthquakes in diverse places, places people do not consider to be subject to earthquakes are also at major risk.<\/p>\n

The type of changes that scientists are pointing to could be a factor in increasing the dangers of the eruption of volcanoes, including supervolcanoes.<\/p>\n

The USA and many other parts of the world are at greater risk for damage by earthquakes and volcanoes than most imagine.<\/p>\n

The coming earthquakes, as well as problems from volcanoes, should serve as notice that biblical prophecy will be fulfilled and that all should believe the prophecies in the Bible.<\/p>\n

Including those prophecies that show that the kingdoms of this world will be replaced relatively soon by the Kingdom of God<\/a>.<\/p>\n

People should live their lives as if God does exist and that He does have a plan, because He does, and it will come to pass.<\/p>\n
