Russia, surrounded by enemies, is readying to fight an epic war for survival. At least that\u2019s what Vladimir Putin wants his countrymen to think. Nearly every evening, Russian state-controlled television leads news broadcasts with video of Russian planes in action over Syria, interspersed with images of NATO tanks and troops menacing Russia\u2019s borders. On 60 Minut<\/em>, Russia\u2019s top-rated political talk show, analyst Nikita Isayev recently spoke of Russia\u2019s \u201cgreat victory\u201d in Syria heralding the country\u2019s return to \u201csuperpower status.\u201d And in late November, Putin put Russian business on alert: \u201cThe ability of our economy to increase military production and services at a given time is one of the most important aspects of military security,\u201d he told a meeting of top military brass in Sochi. \u201cAll strategic and simply large-scale enterprise should be ready.\u201d …<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Putin has ordered a massive increase in military spending. In 2017, military expenses are set to exceed $65 billion. That\u2019s still a fraction of the $611 billion spent by the U.S., but it represents 3.3 percent of Russia\u2019s gross domestic product. And that\u2019s not counting Kremlin spending on semi-military organizations like the newly formed Russian National Guard\u2014a 330,000-strong force under Putin\u2019s direct command that is funded from the Interior Ministry budget\u2014or subsidies to aerospace and other defense-related contractors.<\/p>\n

What concerns many in the U.S. and Europe is how Putin is planning to use Russia\u2019s new warships, submarines, helicopters and Bulava-class missiles. …<\/p>\n

U.S.-Russian relations are at their lowest point since the Cold War, making the risks of even a small incident escalating into conflict dangerously high. Trump, taking flak for his team\u2019s ties to Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, has little incentive to be soft on Russia. And at the same time, Putin has been promoting a narrative that portrays Russia as the victim of U.S. aggression. This is being reinforced daily on Russian state TV with stories on U.S. support for anti-Russian \u201cfascists\u201d in Ukraine and the U.S.\u2019s alleged support for ISIS in Syria. http:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2017\/12\/22\/putin-preparing-world-war-iii-trump-746988.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As it turns out, many believe that World War III will be a battle between East and West. Notice the following from this past Spring:<\/p>\n

Russia recently said it would support<\/a> Iran\u2019s bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,<\/strong> an emerging economic and political alliance led by China. This Shanghai Bloc was originally formed<\/a> in 1996 before it was rebranded in 2001. Its membership includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Last year, India and Pakistan also signed<\/a> the memorandum of obligations and are expected to become full members sometime this year. The bloc has expanded into a military organization over the last few years and has run joint military exercises in the past<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Iran now fully fits the criteria for membership and that discussions on its bid to join will take place this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext in line [for membership]\u2026is Iran, which has resolved issues related to sanctions from the U.N. Security Council,\u201d<\/em> Lavrov told Russian state news agency Itar-Tass<\/em><\/a>, as reported<\/a> by Newsweek<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The country now \u201cfully meets the criteria for membership<\/em>,\u201d Lavrov told journalists at the end of a meeting of the group\u2019s foreign ministers. … What is especially notable about this alliance, however, is the fact that the U.S. was rejected<\/a> from gaining observer status in 2004, which, as Newsweek<\/em> reports<\/a>, reinforces \u201cthe impression that its goal is to exist in opposition to Western political and military alliances.\u201d …

As the world is seemingly preparing for a third world war<\/a> between NATO and the growing Eastern bloc, we are witnessing the strengthening of alliances as well as the switching of some very strategic ones<\/strong>. http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-04-28\/heres-who-nato-will-probably-be-fighting-if-theres-world-war-iii<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Great Tribulation will not begin with a WWIII between the East and West per se<\/em>. It will begin with an attack against the USA and\/or UK by the coming European Beast<\/a> power (but likely with at least tacit support from various ones in the East–including Russia).<\/p>\n

The Great Tribulation begins with the attack by the King of the North<\/a> as Daniel was inspired to write:<\/p>\n

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong<\/a>, wrote:<\/p>\n

World War 3 brings with it THE GREAT TRIBULATION. That is now next in order. But Jesus, in foretelling this chain of world events, said the GREAT TRIBULATION would be preceded by the world-wide proclaiming of HIS Gospel. “The GOSPEL must first be published among all nations,” said Jesus (Mark 13:10), or, as recorded by Matthew (24:14): “This Gospel OF THE KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto ALL NATIONS; and THEN shall the END (of the world) come.” (Armstrong HW. Brethren and Co-Worker Letter, May 22, 1953)<\/p>\n

Matthew 24:15…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beasts armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities<\/strong>. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). … We have reached the time just before a “United States of Europe” restores the “Holy Roman Empire,” under the papacy, in a union of church and state. Herbert W. Armstrong<\/a>, was correct that WWIII will be between the European Beast<\/a> power and the USA, Canada, and UK (cf. Daniel 11:39); shortly thereafter, the Arab world will be involved (cf. Daniel 11:40-43). I tend to believe that the USA will be hit just before or at the same time as the UK, which I believe that Daniel 11:39 implies (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

That being said, let me add that the Newsweek<\/em> article, despite its title, really had little about what Donald Trump is or is not doing related to WWIII.<\/p>\n

But the effect of what Donald Trump has been doing related to WWIII is to upset the Europeans and push them to arm.<\/p>\n

Actually, today the Europeans are meeting about that.<\/p>\n

Celebrating a joint defense pact<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first item on Thursday’s agenda will see EU leaders welcome the launch of the bloc’s newly established defense pact, known as the Permanent Structured Cooperation\u00a0(PESCO)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The defense network will see the 25 participating member states join together to develop their military capabilities, invest in shared projects and enhance their respective armed forces. Seventeen initial joint defense projects have already been earmarked for PESCO to take on \u2014 from the creation of a pan-European medical unit, to establishing a pan-European military training center.<\/p>\n

BRUSSELS, Dec 14 (Reuters) – European nations are set to achieve a 70-year-old ambition to integrate their defences on Thursday, signing a pact between 25 EU governments to fund, develop and deploy armed forces together after Britain\u2019s decision to quit the bloc.<\/p>\n

First blocked by the French parliament in the 1950s and later by Britain, which feared an EU army, the pact aims to end the squandering of billions of euros by splintered defence policies and Europe\u2019s heavy reliance on the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one EU country can provide security to its citizens on its own,\u201d EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said. …<\/p>\n

U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s criticism of low European defence spending, a host of divisions on foreign policy, and Trump\u2019s warnings to allies that they could no longer rely on the United States if they did not pay up have also played a role.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s sad that we needed Donald Trump to give us a boost, but whatever, it is the right outcome,\u201d said former German foreign minister Joschka Fischer, https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/eu-defence\/seven-decades-in-the-making-eu-set-to-sign-defence-pact-idUSL8N1OE1W3<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Regular readers of this COGwriter news page realize I have been warning for about two years that if Donald Trump became US President that this would encourage the Europeans to arm (see, for example, Donald Trump in Prophecy<\/a>)–and this is happening.<\/p>\n

Many believe that WWIII will entail massive conflict with Russia and\/or China and\/or Iran and\/or is mainly<\/em> an Islamic war.\u00a0 Those views are in error.\u00a0 WWIII basically will be the risen European power and its allies (Germany and its allies began WWI and WWII) attacking and beating the USA, UK, and their Anglo-Saxon allies (cf. Daniel 11:39; Isaiah 10:5-11; see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Terrorism will be part of that and will likely involve an alliance with Europe of many nations in the Middle East and North Africa that are currently Islamic (see Psalm 83; see also Is the Future King of the South Rising Up?<\/a> and Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy<\/a> and Germany’s Assyrian Roots Throughout History<\/a>). But then Europe will eliminate them as a threat (Daniel 11:40-43) after the USA is eliminated (Daniel 11:39).<\/p>\n

What perhaps could be called World War Four (WWIV) would be an attack against the European Beast power by Russia, China, and their confederated allies.\u00a0 This will also tie in with the gathering of the armies at Armageddon (Revelation 16:12-16). As far as Armageddon goes, please see the video shot from there simply titled Armageddon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The fact is that the 6000 years God gave humankind to rule itself is about to come to an end (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?<\/a>), which means we are nearer to the start of the Great Tribulation, WWIII, and even WWIV.<\/p>\n

Because of the proximity to the end of 6000 years for humanity to rule itself mainly cut off from God, we are to expect wars, rumors of wars, and various sorrows (Matthew 24:4-8). And then the end of the nations of USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies once the time of Jacob\u2019s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21) begins.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump’s election is speeding up the type of unity that the European Beast power will have.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Vladimir Putin is working on improving his nation’s defense. But biblically, much of that will be used in what perhaps could be called World War IV.<\/p>\n

WWIII will be a conquering of the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies by the final European Beast<\/a> power. And while I do believe that Russia will have some involvement and China may well takeover Australia (watch Are Chinese threats against Australia for real?<\/a>), it is not really a war between the East and the West.<\/p>\n
