Do you remember the Watergate scandal?<\/p>\n

Well, I certainly do.<\/p>\n

Here is some information about it:<\/p>\n

The Watergate scandal<\/b> was a major political scandal that occurred in the United States during the early 1970s, following a break-in by five men at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. on June 17, 1972, and President Richard Nixon’s administration’s subsequent attempt to cover up its involvement. After the five burglars were caught and the conspiracy was discovered, Watergate was investigated by the United States Congress. Meanwhile, Nixon’s administration resisted its probes, which led to a constitutional crisis.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The term Watergate<\/i>, by metonymy, has come to encompass an array of clandestine and often illegal activities undertaken by members of the Nixon administration. Those activities included such “dirty tricks” as bugging the offices of political opponents and people of whom Nixon or his officials were suspicious. Nixon and his close aides also ordered investigations of activist groups and political figures, using the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as political weapons.<\/p>\n

The scandal led to the discovery of multiple abuses of power by members of the Nixon administration, an impeachment process against the president that led to articles of impeachment, and Nixon’s resignation. The scandal also resulted in the indictment of 69 people, with trials or pleas resulting in 48 being found guilty, many of whom were top Nixon officials.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The affair began with the arrest of five men for breaking into the DNC headquarters at the Watergate complex on Saturday, June 17, 1972. The FBI investigated and discovered a connection between cash found on the burglars and a slush fund used by the Committee for the Re-Election of the President (CRP), the official organization of Nixon’s campaign. In July 1973, evidence mounted against the president’s staff, including testimony provided by former staff members in an investigation conducted by the Senate Watergate Committee. …<\/p>\n

Facing virtually certain impeachment in the House of Representatives and equally certain conviction by the Senate, Nixon resigned the presidency on August 9, 1974, preventing the House from impeaching him (Watergate scandal. Wikipedia, accessed 02\/07\/18)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Did the use of the FBI and IRS to squelch political opposition end in 1974?<\/p>\n

No.<\/p>\n

For about two years, the IRS under the Obama Administration systematically and intentionally put roadblocks in front of nonprofit organizations that it believed held political views that were not supportive of the Obama Administration (see Scandals in the US government<\/a>).<\/p>\n

What about the use of the FBI to spy on the political opposition related to a presidential election? What about a President of the USA having knowledge he did not admit to?<\/p>\n

The latest batch of text messages between Strzok and Page show more examples of the Deep State opposition to Donald Trump, including a text sent on Election Day 2016 … http:\/\/theduran.com\/breaking-new-text-messages-from-fbi-lovers-say-obama-wants-to-know-everything\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Newly revealed text messages<\/a> between FBI paramours Peter Strzok and Lisa Page include an exchange about preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to President Obama, who wanted \u201cto know everything we\u2019re doing.”<\/p>\n

The message, from Page to Strzok, was among thousands of texts between the lovers reviewed by Fox News. The pair both worked at one point for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. …<\/p>\n

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., along with majority staff from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, is releasing the texts, along with a report titled, \u201cThe Clinton Email Scandal and the FBI’s Investigation of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The newly uncovered texts reveal a bit more about the timing of the discovery of “hundreds of thousands” of emails on former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s laptop, ultimately leading to Comey’s infamous letter to Congress just days before the 2016 presidential election. …<\/p>\n

Other texts show more examples of the officials’ opposition to Trump.<\/p>\n

On Election Day 2016, Page wrote, “OMG THIS IS F***ING TERRIFYING.” Strzok replied, “Omg, I am so depressed.” Later that month, on Nov. 13, 2016, Page wrote, “I bought all the president’s men. Figure I need to brush up on watergate.”<\/p>\n

The next day, Nov. 14, 2016, Page wrote, \u201cGod, being here makes me angry. Lots of high fallutin\u2019 national security talk. Meanwhile we have OUR task ahead of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page\u2019s meaning here is unclear, but according to the Senate report, coupled with Strzok\u2019s Aug. 15 text about an \u201cinsurance policy,\u201d further investigation is warranted to find out what actions the two may have taken. http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2018\/02\/07\/more-texts-between-strzok-and-page-uncovered-lead-to-more-questions.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It was the comment from FBI agent Peter Strzok, “Figure I need to brush up on watergate” that got me to do this post.<\/p>\n

This combined with the release of\u00a0 the FISA memo by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and various press reports from 2016 to present essentially shows that the Executive branch of the US government took surveillance against political opposition, did so through unethical and probably illegal ways, denied it publicly, but did it anyway.<\/p>\n

Here is a little information on Peter Strzok:<\/p>\n

By July 2015, Strzok was serving as the section chief of the Counterespionage Section, a subordinate section of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division. He led a team of a dozen investigators during the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email server and assisted in the drafting of public statements for then-FBI Director James Comey.<\/sup> He changed the description of Clinton’s actions from “grossly negligent”, which could be a criminal offense, to “extremely careless” …<\/p>\n

Due to his acknowledged expertise and reliability, Strzok rose to the position of Deputy Assistant Director of the Counterintelligence Division, and as the number two official within that division oversaw investigations involving Russia and China. In that capacity, he led the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, and examined both the Donald Trump\u2013Russia dossier and the Russian role in the 2016 Democratic National Committee email leak.<\/p>\n

In July 2017, Strzok became the top FBI agent working for Robert Mueller’s 2017 Special Counsel investigation looking into any links or coordination between Trump’s presidential campaign and the Russian government. <\/sup>He served in that position until August 2017, at which time he began working in the Human Resources Branch. Government corruption did not end with the Watergate scandal (for some related to the Obama Administration see\u00a0Ethics, Scandals, and Barack Obama<\/a> and Scandals in the US government<\/a>). But the mainstream press has been selective, based upon political bias, as to which to promote and which to essentially bury or treat as insignificant.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it should be mentioned that some people believe that Barack Obama took an action in early January 2017 to create an environment so that those in the government could leak information against Donald Trump:<\/p>\n

01\/12\/17<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON \u2014 In its final days, the Obama administration has expanded the power of the National Security Agency to share globally intercepted personal communications with the government\u2019s 16 other intelligence agencies<\/a> before applying privacy protections.<\/p>\n

The new rules significantly relax longstanding limits on what the N.S.A. may do with the information gathered by its most powerful surveillance operations, which are largely unregulated by American wiretapping laws. These include collecting satellite transmissions, phone calls and emails that cross network switches abroad, and messages between people abroad that cross domestic network switches. https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/01\/12\/us\/politics\/nsa-gets-more-latitude-to-share-intercepted-communications.html?_r=1<\/a><\/p>\n

02\/18\/17<\/p>\n

According to civil right expert and prominent First Amendement {sic} Supreme Court lawyer, Jay Sekulow<\/a>, what the agencies did by leaking the Trump Administration information was not only illegal but “almost becomes a soft coup”, one which was spurred by the last minute rule-change by Obama, who intentionally made it far easier for leaks to propagate, and next to impossible to catch those responsible for the leaks.<\/p>\n

This is his explanation:<\/p>\n

There was a sea-change here at the NSA with an order that came from president Obama 17 days before he left office where he allowed the NSA who used to control the data, it now goes to 16 other agencies and that just festered this whole leaking situation, and that happened on the way out, as the president was leaving the office.<\/p>\n

Why did the Obama administration wait until it had 17 days left in their administration to put this order in place if they thought it was so important<\/strong>. They had 8 years, they didn’t do it, number one. Number two, it changed the exiting rule which was an executive order dating back to Ronald Reagan, that has been in place until 17 days before the Obama administration was going to end, that said the NSA gets the raw data, and they determine dissemination.<\/p>\n

Instead, this change that the president put in place, signed off by the way by James Clapper on December 15, 2016, signed off by Loretta Lynch the Attorney General January 3, 2017, they decide that now 16 agencies can get the raw data and what that does is almost creates a shadow government<\/strong>. You have all these people who are not agreeing with President Trump’s position, so it just festers more leaks.<\/p>\n

If they had a justification for this, wonderful, why didn’t they do it 8 years ago, 4 years ago, 3 years ago. Yet they wait until 17 days left. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One potential answer: they knew they had a “smoking gun”, and were working to make it easier to enable the information to be “leaked” despite the clearly criminal consequences of such dissemination.<\/p>\n

As this point Hannity correctly points out, “it makes it that much more difficult by spreading out the information among 16 other agencies, if they want to target or take away the privacy rights, and illegally tap the phones, in this case General Flynn, it’s going to be much harder to find the perpetrator.”<\/p>\n

Sekulow confirms, noting that back when only the NSA had access to this kind of raw data, there would be a very small amount of people who have access to this kind of data. “But this change in the Obama Administration was so significant that they allowed dissemination to 16 other agencies, and we wonder why there’s leaks.” http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-02-18\/jay-sekulow-obama-should-be-held-accountable-soft-coup-attempt-against-trump<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is not unexpected. And leaks, via James Comey, to name one 2017 ‘leaker’ did occur.<\/p>\n

The “deep state” sadly is shown to have taken steps (see also the recent post here House FISA investigation memo suggests there are alligators in the \u2018deep state\u2019 swamp<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The Bible warns:<\/p>\n

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves<\/strong>, lovers of money, boasters, proud<\/strong>, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God<\/strong>, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth<\/strong>. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)<\/p>\n

13 \u2026 evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived<\/strong>. (2 Timothy 3:13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Deceit by American leaders and the media is not good.<\/p>\n

There is division in the USA, and it is more than just political. We are learning about more and more deceit. Plus, the current USA President has a major problem with truth himself.<\/p>\n
