COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n The US Department of Agriculture is planning to make a pronouncement about GMO labeling:<\/p>\n In a few months, the USDA is required to publish its proposed final rule on the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard (“the GE Disclosure Law<\/a><\/strong>“). The rule will address what foods should be considered “bioengineered,” what amount of bioengineered substances in a food product will trigger a disclosure requirement, and how the presence of bioengineered foods must be disclosed, among many other thorny and highly technical issues<\/a><\/strong>. http:\/\/www.mondaq.com\/unitedstates\/x\/687094\/food+drugs+law\/New+rules+coming+for+GMO+food+labeling<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n Actually, I have little confidence that the USDA will handle this correctly. Plus there are “thorny” issues that the USA has tended to overlook.<\/p>\n Consider also the following:<\/p>\n March 28, 2018<\/p>\n In one of many definitions, the 1998 Wingspread Statement on the Precautionary Principle says:\u00a0\u201cWhen an activity raises threats of harm to human health or the environment, precautionary measures should be taken even if some cause and effect relationships are not fully established scientifically.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Needless to say, that doesn\u2019t easily fly in our age of science and money. …<\/p>\n Nassim Nicholas Taleb -of Black Swan and Antifragile fame- has made the case, in his usual strong fashion, for applying the Precautionary Principle when it comes to GMOs.<\/strong> His argument is that allowing genetically modified organisms in our eco- and foodsystems carries unknown risks that we have no way of overseeing, and that these risks may cause irreversible damage to the very systems mankind relies on for survival.<\/p>\n Taleb is not popular among GMO producers.<\/strong><\/u> Who all insist there is no evidence that their products cause harm. But that is not the point. The Precautionary Principle, if it is to be applied, must turn the burden of proof on its head. The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Monsanto et al must prove that their products do no harm. They can not. Which is why they have, and need, huge lobbying, PR and legal departments. …<\/p>\n I wanted to talk about this: Paragraph 2 of article 191 of the European Union\u2019s Lisbon Treaty (2009) states that:<\/p>\n \u201cUnion policy on the environment shall aim at a high level of protection taking into account the diversity of situations in the various regions of the Union.\u00a0It shall be based on the precautionary principle<\/strong>\u00a0and on the principles that preventive action should be taken, that environmental damage should as a priority be rectified at source and that the polluter should pay.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n In other words, the EU has committed itself to the Precautionary Principle. Well, on paper, that is. However, then we get to a whole series of reports on wildlife in Europe, and they indicate all sorts of things, but not that Brussels cares even one bit about adhering to the Precautionary Principle, either for its people or its living environment. One voice below calls it a \u201cstate of denial\u201d, but I would use some other choice words. Let\u2019s start with the\u00a0Guardian\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>this morning, because they have an interesting perspective:<\/p>\n Most Britons remain blithely unaware that\u00a0since the Beatles broke up, we have wiped out half our wildlife\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u2026since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the number of flying insects on nature reserves in Germany had dropped by at least 76%<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 more than three-quarters\u2026<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Things like \u2018since you were born\u2019, \u2018since man landed on the moon\u2019, \u2018since the wall came down\u2019 or \u2018since 9\/11\u2019 may be a bit clearer than 100 years, or 25 years. Moreover, I read somewhere that since Columbus landed in 1492, America has lost on third of all its biodiversity, but that doesn\u2019t yet explain the rate of acceleration that is taking place. …<\/p>\n Dow-Dupont, ChemChina and Bayer Monsanto have a lot more political influence than a million Europeans, or ten million Americans. They have even convinced numerous, if not most, people that without their products the world would starve. That their chemicals are needed to feed a growing human population. Farming based on algorythms.<\/p>\n They are not \u2018seed companies\u2019. They are \u2018seeds-that-need-our-chemicals-to-grow\u2019 companies. And they are out to conquer the entire world. <\/strong><\/u>A 100-times worse version of Facebook. And our governments subsidize the use of their products. As we not-so-slowly see our living world be massacred by those products.<\/p>\n We don\u2019t know how bad GMOs will turn out to be. Which is in itself a very good reason to ban them. Since once they spread, they can\u2019t be stopped anymore. Then the chemical boys will own all of our food. But we do know how bad the pesticides and other chemicals they produce are. And we\u2019re not even banning those.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The loss of bees in the USA, UK, and elsewhere has been tied by various researchers to chemicals that GMO-producing companies like Monsanto have made (e.g. \u2018The world\u2019s most popular pesticide probably killed England\u2019s wild bees\u2019<\/a>). Bees are essential for the production of a lot of human foods.<\/p>\n Much of the world already requires GMO labeling as can be seen in the map below:<\/p>\n Now, one part of the USA, the State of Vermont, does have a requirement to tell the truth about foods (see GMO labeling: Thank you Vermont<\/a>). It turned its back on Monsanto agriculture to allow its residents to be able to make an informed choice.<\/p>\n Last century, I started to get published for my positions against genetically-modified foods (Thiel R. Labeling of genetically modified foods should be a fundamental consumer right. HealthKeepers, 2000; 2 (3):16-19; Thiel R. ANMA\u2019s official position on genetically-modified foods. ANMA Monitor, 1999;3(4)5-8). And since then, more and more information has come to light suggesting dangers to the environment and health related to GMOs.<\/p>\n Many ears ago, I warned:<\/p>\n In the \u201cGreat Depression\u201d most Americans and Brits had skills in growing food. This is no longer the case. Furthermore, modern crops have gotten more complicated as so many seeds are hybrids that they will not actually grow the type of foods most in the USA and UK are used to having. The coming food problems will also get worse once one or more genetically-modified crops suffers from some type of pestilence. The USA, to cite one example, could lose virtually all of its wheat or corn because of the dependence on genetically modified versions (which is especially true for crops like corn and soy). Prophecy for famines will be fulfilled (Matthew 24:7-8). (From China Buying USA Food, In Depression Will Chinese Eat While Americans & Brits Starve?<\/a> May 21, 2010)<\/p>\n Notice something that Ezekiel was inspired to write:<\/p>\n 15 \u2018So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.\u2019\u201d (Ezekiel 5:15-17)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice that this shows famine, then pestilence, and then the sword. The above sequence seems to be slightly different than that Jesus listed as part of the \u201cbeginning of sorrows\u201d (Mathew 24:7-8) as the sword comes afterwards. But since the sword should begin the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob\u2019s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), this may be part of how the beginning of sorrows ties into the Great Tribulation\u2013this also may suggest hunger and disease problems for the Anglo-nations prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.<\/p>\n The increasing use of genetically modified organisms for many of the grain crops in the USA is putting parts of humanity at major increased risk of unintended consequences such as famine and disease pestilences. Most of the corn and soy beans produced in the USA are genetically-modified. Soon, much of the wheat will be. Directly and indirectly, the USA and its Anglo-allies will cause most of the problems that it will be experiencing in the next several years.<\/p>\n As Jesus said:<\/p>\n 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should: both spiritually and physically. (From Super Wheat: Solution or Disaster Awaiting?<\/a> June 10, 2011)<\/p>\n So, it may be that the Anglo-nations will experience some real hunger as well as disease and\/or other pestilences (that could possibly at least partially be triggered by excessive reliance on genetically-modified organisms as part of their agricultural production) that will weaken them enough so that the USA and its Anglo-allies will then be considered attackable by some of their enemies\u2026<\/p>\n Because of sin, greed, and ignorance, America has been into producing genetically-modified foods. These \u201cfoods\u201d are genetically identical which makes them susceptible to total elimination via famine-causing pestilential organisms. I have long suspected that the time will come when some type of pestilence will hit America\u2019s genetically-modified grain crops like corn and wreak havoc on the land. Enough so, that this may embolden its enemies to attack Britain and\/or the USA to begin the Great Tribulation. (Thiel B. Food Concerns<\/a>. COGwriter, December 29, 2011)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Basically, I have long suspected that likely crop failures associated with GMO grains are putting the USA and its Anglo-allies at extreme risk of being destroyed. Most Americans do not like to accept this, but it is nonetheless true. The USA keeps developing more and more genetically-modified \u2018foods.\u2019 This is not good.<\/p>\n The time is coming when the USA will have severe food shortages. And at that same time, the USA may have to provide grain to China and other creditors that it owes when some Americans will be starving. The reliance on genetically-modified grain crops will likely contribute to disaster in the USA. It may even contribute to food inflation.<\/p>\n The step in Vermont is a good one, but is not likely to stop the increased dependence in the USA on genetically-engineered crops.<\/p>\n The Europeans are not near the risk for this, even though the USA has pressed them to accept GMOs (see TTIP: The USA hopes to crush Europe with GMOs?<\/a>). The Europeans are also at less risk because of their animal husbandry practices (watch Are Americans & Asians setting themselves up for destruction from antibiotic use?<\/a>).<\/p>\n Thousands of years ago, God inspired one of His prophets to pen the following, which encourages people to eat what is good:<\/p>\n 2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. (Isaiah 55:2)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Intentionally eating GMOs, in my view, is not good (though in the USA completely avoiding all of them is close to impossible). Furthermore, as science disregards God, they are also creating living organisms that combine DNA from animals and even humans together.<\/p>\n It should also be noted that scientists can now also produce genetically-modified pestilential organisms–synthetic biology. Thus, there is even more devastating potential in the 21st century from man-made pestilences. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.<\/span> 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8)<\/p>\n 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.<\/span> (Mark 13:8).<\/p>\n 10 <\/span>Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 <\/span> And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. <\/span>(Luke 21:10-11). Possible gmo-crop losses and the use of synthetic bio-agents are consistent with what Jesus warned would happen.<\/p>\n Consider also, that according to Jesus, one or more significant famines and pestilences will begin shortly before the start of the Great Tribulation<\/a>. Biblically, it appears to be highly likely that the USA and its Anglo-allies will be hit hard by famines and\/or pestilences just prior to being taken over (Leviticus 26:21-25) by the Beast power (Daniel 11:39).<\/p>\n Yes, we may well see gmo-destruction!<\/p>\n Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world those tougher times may be here now. People who can prepare, should. Both spiritually and physically.<\/p>\n Famines and pestilences will come!
