France’s Macron: EU in ‘civil war’ over democracy<\/h2>\n

French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that “there seems to be a European civil war” between liberal democracy and rising authoritarianism.<\/p>\n

He urged the EU to renew its commitment to democracy, in a passionate speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.<\/p>\n

“I don’t want to belong to a generation of sleepwalkers that has forgotten its own past”, he said, recalling how the EU arose after World War Two.<\/p>\n

He is launching debates with voters, aimed at re-engaging them with the EU.<\/p>\n

In his speech he condemned what he called “a fascination with the illiberal” in Europe.<\/p>\n

Last year Mr Macron and his new liberal party, La R\u00e9publique en Marche (LREM), triumphed in French elections with a strongly pro-EU platform. http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-43794856<\/a><\/p>\n

17 April 2018France’s president Emmanuel Macron urged reforms to address\u00a0concerns and fears of EU citizens in a speech\u00a0aimed at boosting the EU unity amidst a string of crisis.<\/p>\n

Speaking to EU lawmakers in Strasbourg on Tuesday, he urged the deputies to create a “proper debate on convictions and proposals” and make the “EU democracy come alive” as the bloc starts its preparations for the May 2019 vote. The upcoming parliamentary vote is the first EU-wide election since the UK voted to leave the union.<\/p>\n

European people “have not given up on Europe,” Macron said in an emotionally charged address on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The French leader called for\u00a0a debate on migration, a roadmap to eurozone reform, reforming the banking system, and a EU-wide\u00a0sovereignty which would compliment the\u00a0sovereignty of individual member states.<\/p>\n

“We need to build this EU-wide sovereignty to protect our citizens in terms of internal and external defense and security,” he said. …<\/p>\n

“We see authoritarians all around us, and the answer is not authoritarian democracy, but the authority of democracy,” he said. http:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/frances-emmanuel-macron-calls-for-revival-of-eu-democracy\/a-43415579<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, France’s President is concerned that there is a type of civil war in Europe between those that favor democracy and those that favor authoritarian rule. He also wants more European unity, European-wide sovereignty, and a stronger European military.<\/p>\n

While I do expect civil unrest in Europe, the Bible shows that Europe will always have problems with unity:<\/p>\n

\n
41<\/span> Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. <\/span>42<\/span> And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. <\/span>43<\/span> As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay.<\/span> (Daniel 2:41-43)<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Yet, the Bible shows that a militaristic leader will rise up in Europe:<\/p>\n

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea<\/strong>, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, \u201cWho is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?\u201d (Revelation 13:1-4)<\/p>\n

2 Daniel spoke, saying, \u201cI saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea<\/strong>. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea<\/strong>, each different from the other. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle\u2019s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man\u2019s heart was given to it.\u00a0\u00a0 5 \u201cAnd suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: \u2018Arise, devour much flesh!\u2019\u00a0\u00a0 6 \u201cAfter this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.\u00a0 7 \u201cAfter this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.\u00a0 (Daniel 7:2-8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The \u201cGreat Sea\u201d that bordered the ancient lands of Israel (Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16) is the Mediterranean Sea–and that is the sea that Daniel was referring to. Despite some false claims by some, the Beast power is not a nation like Russia, which does not border the Mediterranean Sea, but Europe which does (Russia, however, will be a factor in eliminating the European beast power, see also The Eurasian Union, the Kings of the East, and Bible Prophecy<\/a>). A comparison of the beasts in Revelation 13 and Daniel 7 shows that they share many of the same characteristics (for some details, you may wish to watch the YouTube video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Europe is the power that will control the \u201cGreat Sea.\u201d And while the southern border of the Mediterranean Sea is currently under Arab control, the Bible shows that the King of the North will take over the Arab powers (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-9).<\/p>\n

Now, this Beast leader will not really be a democratic one. The Bible shows that Europe will reorganize and give this leader dictatorial power:<\/p>\n

12 \u201cThe ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet<\/strong>, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.\u00a0 (Revelation 17:12-13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These ten kings have no kingdom, but are to obtain one. Thus, this is a type of reorganization in verse 12. Since they give their power to the Beast in verse 13, this is a second reorganization. The \u201cbeast\u201d is not shown to have much power prior to Revelation 17:12-13. This turnover of power to him results in a dictatorship (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?<\/a>)–which will be worse than, but similar to, the one led by Adolf Hitler (see also European Unity to be like Hitler?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Macron is to receive the Charlemagne Prize for promoting European unity (see France\u2019s President Macron to receive the Charlemagne Prize: Any relationship between Charlemagne and the Beast of Revelation?<\/a>) on May 10th of this year. He wants a stronger Europe, but prefers a democratic one. While Europe may temporarily end up with a little more democracy, the prophetic reality is that Europe will turn into a dictatorship (Daniel 11:36-38).<\/p>\n

Europe will end up with a stronger military and a “great army” (Daniel 11:25). So, President Macron will get some of what he wanted.<\/p>\n

But Europe will end up with the Beast, which is something people like Emmanuel Macron have not seriously considered.<\/p>\n
