COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n

Yesterday while watching the news on CNN, they had a variety of weather related reports.\u00a0 One of its commentators referred to the flood in Iowa as the “Biblical Flood 2008”.\u00a0 I believe that he also stated that the governor of Iowa declared 83 of 99 counties in Iowa as disaster areas.<\/p>\n

CNN also reported that many in Iowa did not have flood insurance and that the State and Federal governments would need to step in and offer financial aid (which while helpful, will increase the Federal deficit).\u00a0 CNN also mentioned that the flooding is likely to spread to other places (Illinois was next) as the waters drained down Iowa’s major rivers.<\/p>\n

CNN also stated that the USDA believed that corn production would be down 10%.\u00a0 As there have already been concerns about rice (see Rice and the Beginning of Sorrows<\/a>) and wheat (see Food Riots: A Sign of the \u201cBeginning of Sorrows\u201d?<\/a>) around the world, adding corn to that list suggests problems with the supplies of the three major grains in the world.<\/p>\n

CNN also reported that about a million in China<\/a> were displaced by flooding there.<\/p>\n

CNN also reported that the large earthquake in Japan<\/a> this weekend caused a mudslide and several deaths.<\/p>\n

While I did not see it mention Myanmar (see also Myanmar Cyclone & China Quake<\/a>) nor the droughts in the West & Australia, these are also serious concerns that affect many millions.<\/p>\n

God’s wrath seems at work these days, as the heavens and Earth have unleashed earthquakes in China, a cyclone in Burma, killer tornadoes and record floods across the U.S. and even a plague of locusts (cicadas) in New England. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Cedar Rapids, Iowa today, floodwaters forced the evacuation of a downtown hospital after residents of more than 3,000 homes fled for higher ground. A railroad bridge collapsed, and 100 city blocks were underwater…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

By the final Book of Revelation in the New Testament, the Earth suffers “Seven Plagues” — from disease to “intense heat” and drought, then finally a shower of deadly hailstones. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And then comes the Apocalypse, the final judgment of man and destruction of the world by fire. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Biblical imagery is all over the news these days \u2014 even including a story last week of a New York baby being enwrapped by a snake in its crib, harking back to evil lurking in the Garden of Eden…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Most theologians and scientists don’t take seriously warnings that the end of the world is nigh. But many reputable scholars do lend some credence to the notion that the world is in for some kind of disaster, be it meteorological, ecological or geopolitical. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Though tsunamis, hurricanes and heat waves may not be punishment from God, history teaches that events in the physical world trigger upheaval in society. Civilizations have risen and fallen over drought, famine and water wars. <\/span><\/span>http:\/\/www.abcnews.go.com\/US\/Weather\/story?id=5062583&page=1<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I would add that the civilization in the USA will be no exception–once we are perceived as weak enough (and the Europeans<\/a> strong enough)–it will be over for the USA.<\/p>\n

I would also comment that most scientists today do not believe in God, so of course they do not see any possible biblical connection.\u00a0 And would add that most of the world’s theologians do not even understand the basic doctrines of the early church, hence the fact that they do not make connections of world weather issues and the Bible is no surprise.<\/p>\n

Jesus, however, told His true followers to “Watch”, and indicated that true Christians would be careful so that they would not be “caught unawares” (Luke 21:34, KJV).<\/p>\n

The truth is that we may be in the period of time, PRIOR to the Great Tribulation and “the Apocalypse” that Jesus referred to as “the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:8).\u00a0 And the events that the Bible shows will happen are things that the faithful followers of Christ should be paying attention to.<\/p>\n
