The Iowa flooding is expected to raise food prices as the following article shows:<\/p>\n

Consumers were warned to expect even sharper increases in global food prices after US officials said that some of the country\u2019s best farmland was facing its worst flooding for 15 years. <\/span><\/p>\n

Agriculture officials and traders said the damage could push up worldwide corn and soyabean prices, which have spiralled in recent days as floods have swamped crops in parts of Iowa, the US\u2019s biggest corn-producing state.<\/span><\/p>\n

The warning comes at a time when high food prices are already sparking protests across the developing world.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Corn futures in Chicago this week rose to record highs of more than $8 a bushel on fears that up to 5m acres of the crop could be lost, while soyabean prices hit a record of $15.93 a bushel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tom Jennings, acting director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, said: \u201cThe price of corn and the price of beans could rise more. If we lose a lot of corn the prices will continue to go up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The increase in the cost of corn and soyabeans \u2013 the two main feed crops for farm animals such as cows and chickens \u2013 increased the price of live cattle yesterday for the second day in a row, to the highest level in 22 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Jennings said that the impact of the heavy rains was \u201cdramatic\u201d…<\/span><\/p>\n

Agriculture traders …added that expensive nitrogen fertiliser \u2013 critical for the plants\u2019 development \u2013 has now been washed out from the fields by the rains. For that reason, some farmers are likely to leave their land fallow and, instead, cash in their crop insurance policies, further reducing supply.<\/span><\/p>\n

GULFPORT, Ill. (June 18) — Floodwaters breached another levee in Illinois on Wednesday and threatened more Mississippi River towns in Missouri after inundating much of Iowa for the past week.<\/div>\n
The breach in Meyer<\/strong>, in western Illinois, forced the evacuation of the town of 40 to 50 people and threatened its farmland<\/strong>, Adams County Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Julie Shepard said….<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Later in the week, the Mississippi is expected to threaten a host of others communities, leading officials to consider evacuation plans and begin sandbagging.<\/div>\n

While in the short run, we in the USA will mainly be annoyed by higher food prices, these prices can lead to real hunger and death in poorer countries. In the USA itself, they will probably lead to higher inflation and will shift consumer spending away from items such as cars and into needed items like food. This will then most likely hurt US manufacturing and related industries (as well as impacting foreign nations that sell their manufactured goods in the USA).<\/p>\n

As mentioned before, there have already been concerns about rice (see Rice and the Beginning of Sorrows<\/a>) and wheat (see Food Riots: A Sign of the \u201cBeginning of Sorrows\u201d?<\/a>) around the world, adding corn and soy beans to that list suggests problems with the supplies of the four major grains in the world.<\/p>\n

Things are already bad in Myanmar, because of the cyclone there. And once international attention leaves that country, its citizens will also somehow have to compete to buy more expensive foods. This flood, thus, may impact poorer countries in Asia and elsewhere more than the USA–this time.<\/p>\n

But, unless massive repentance occurs soon, the time is coming where the USA itself will suffer much death through starvation. And while I do not believe it will be this year, I do not believe it is too many years from now.<\/p>\n

Last night on HNN, Glenn Beck (a Mormon<\/a>) advised Americans to stock up on food. While this may help individuals, at this time that would also drive up prices. How high remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

Notice the the Bible is clear that high food prices are prophesied to hit the world:<\/p>\n

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6).<\/p>\n

Translated into current terms, the above indicates that many of those affected will work all day for a little less food than they need (and a lot less than Americans now consume), allowing for no other use of their money (like shelter, clothing, transportation).<\/p>\n

This time will most likely be here within the next decade.<\/p>\n
