He was on stage playing his keyboard when suddenly he looked up and our eyes met. For me, it was love at first sight.<\/p>\n When the band took a break, Bob ignored the other women vying for his attention and came right to our table. \u201cWho\u2019s your friend?\u201d he asked his sister. She introduced us, and he asked me to dance. I was literally swept off my feet by his suave dance moves and flattering words.<\/p>\n We started dating, and before I knew it, Bob had moved into my house. I had been taught that living together before marriage was wrong in God\u2019s sight. Nevertheless, I was so in love with Bob, I ignored my conscience. I had never been happier in my life . . . or so I thought.<\/p>\n Troubled conscience<\/span><\/p>\n When the pregnancy test read positive, everything changed. Our romance immediately turned sour, and my dream world collapsed around me. Bob insisted I have an abortion; he made the appointment. All I could do was cry…<\/p>\n Right decision<\/span><\/p>\n The day before the appointment, I made my decision. I knew I had to cancel the abortion, even if it meant losing Bob. I carried through with my decision, then waited for him to come home from work.<\/p>\n As I waited, I prayed. God, please give me the courage to stand firm in my decision. I know abortion is wrong. I know living together is wrong. I confess my sins to You, God, and ask for Your forgiveness. I want to make things right. Please help me.<\/em><\/p>\n Turnaround<\/span><\/p>\n I heard Bob\u2019s car pull in the driveway. I took a deep breath, ready to defend my position. He came inside and plopped on the couch. \u201cWe have to talk,\u201d he said. \u201cWe can’t go through with this abortion.\u201d Relief flooded my soul. I couldn\u2019t believe my ears!<\/p>\n \u201cSomething happened today that totally changed my mind,\u201d he continued. “I was struggling with my conscience all morning. I just didn’t have any peace, so I decided to take a walk on my lunch hour to clear my head.<\/p>\n \u201cI passed by a hooker who was pregnant out to here.\u201d He illustrated with his arms how big she was. \u201cShe asked me if I was looking for a good time, and I told her, \u2018No.\u2019 I walked a few more blocks then turned around and went back to her. \u2018Why are you doing this in your condition?\u2019 I asked. She said, \u2018Because it’s my job.\u2019 So I asked her, \u2018Why didn’t you just have an abortion? Wouldn’t that have made your job a lot easier?\u2019 She said, \u2018Mister, I love my baby. And besides, I don’t believe in killing someone helpless.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Confession<\/span><\/p>\n Bob hung his head. \u201cThat really shocked me. I never thought about abortion as killing someone helpless.\u201d<\/p>\n He was quiet a minute, then continued. \u201cI walked on until I came to a church. Something drew me inside.\u201d Bob hadn’t been inside a church in years. \u201cI sat down in one of the pews, and then I got on my knees and prayed, \u2018God, forgive me. I’m a bigger sinner than that prostitute. Forgive me for wanting to kill my baby.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n He looked at me with tears in his eyes. \u201cI’m canceling the appointment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Then I <\/em>started crying. \u201cYou don\u2019t have to,\u201d I sobbed. \u201cI already did.\u201d We hugged, then sat down at the table and discussed the future of our baby. We decided to do the right thing and get married.<\/p>\n Two wrongs don’t make a right.\u00a0 Fornication is wrong, but having an abortion is not the solution.\u00a0 At\u00a0 least Janet Brown (I do not know if that was her real name as I do not recall reading anything from her before) did not make a bad situation worse.<\/p>\n While we in the Church of God have always opposed abortion, at least one early “Bishop of Rome”, Callistus<\/a> , allowed it for wealthy women (some later popes also allowed it).<\/p>\n But that is only one of the many ways, the Roman Catholic Church differs from the Living Church of\u00a0 God.<\/p>\n Several articles of possibly related interest may include:<\/em><\/p>\n Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose<\/a> Do you know what the Bible teaches on this?
