Forbes posted an article by John Mauldin titled “2020s Might Be The Worst Decade In U.S. History.” The article claimed that US debt is destined to rise dramatically as well as cause financial problems with Europe. He claimed that unemployment would greatly increase as well. He claimed a reset, like a biblical jubilee debt release, would be the logical solution. He claimed that the 2030s were then likely to be good. Could the 2020s be the worst decade in USA history? How might Habakkuk 2 play into any of this? What about Jeremiah 30? Could Jesus possibly return towards the end of the decade? Could the USA experience sorrows, troubles, and possibly the Great Tribulation in the 2020s? Could the 6000 years be over then? Europe has already pressured private internet companies like Google and Facebook to take down potentially disturbing content from individuals.<\/p>\n

Decades ago, an article titled ENTERING THE AGE OF TERROR<\/span><\/em> in the old Plain Truth magazine in June 1977 said that as a response to terrorism we may see “that the inevitable result would be a repressive, authoritarian police state and the loss of civil liberties.” This has been occurring.<\/span><\/p>\n

As far as a ‘surveillance police state’ goes, this is something that Church of God writers have expected for some time.<\/p>\n

Before getting to a few scriptures. notice the following:<\/p>\n

Numerous world-famous scientists and economists see a stern picture of the future. … they see, and tell us humanity’s one great problem, now, is the QUESTION OF SURVIVAL. …<\/p>\n

Many scientists and world leaders … say the solution now demands a WORLD GOVERNMENT. There is one thing wrong with this solution. That world supergovernment would have to be given the power of a world police force to enforce its laws, and it would have to maintain the ONLY military force in the world\u2014all nations would have to surrender their armies, navies and air forces to this one SUPERSTATE. In a word, every nation would have to surrender its national sovereignty absolutely. And WHAT MAN could be accepted by all as WORLD RULER? It would, mind you, be a world POLICE STATE. (Armstrong HW. What Is Now Prophesied! Plain Truth, March 1980)<\/p>\n

World government … totalitarian state of the worst magnitude. As the Wall Street Journal put it some years ago: “It follows that for a world government to be effective, it would have to possess powers of compulsion undreamed-of in history’s worst nightmares …. No matter who were the magistrates of the world-state, they would have to trample on so many national and individual aspirations and attitudes, would have to deploy such an army of enforcers, that the most probable upshot would be a police-state on a colossal scale …” (Wall Street Journal editorials, November 14, 1963 and September 14, 1965).<\/p>\n

Obviously man’s approach to the question of peace leaves much to be desired. Nothing in his limited repertoire of feeble solutions has even come close to addressing the fundamental causes of the world’s continuous wars. Millennia ago, the prophets of Israel saw the same failing in the people of their day. Jeremiah wrote: “They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace” (Jer. 6:14). A surveillance police state is coming.<\/p>\n

And now, the technology exists.<\/p>\n

The end result will be bad.<\/p>\n

As I have written in the past, it will arise in Europe. Europe will get together because of fear, economic factors, and a distrust of the USA for military protection and other reasons. Now, the Europeans are proposing spending billions to get there.<\/p>\n

The Bible teaches that a surveillance state will have so much power, it will kill those who will not worship the Beast of the Sea as well as control buying and selling:<\/p>\n

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.<\/p>\n

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The world in general and Europe in particular is moving more and more towards becoming a totalitarian state.<\/p>\n

It is likely that, although the USA is NEITHER the Beast of the Sea nor the Beast of the Earth in Revelation 13, some in the USA are already helping Europe to get to the point of fulfilling surveillance and authoritarian prophecies (more of this in the future is hinted at in Daniel 11:28-30; see also Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The USA is also moving towards being a totalitarian state.<\/p>\n

And, that will not end up helping the USA as that European state will turn against it per Daniel 11:39 (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
