A famous rabbi has claimed that the Messiah was born last week:<\/p>\n

Messiah-mania has reached a fever pitch in Israel, as one prominent rabbi says the prophesied redeemer was born a week ago, while a group promoting the rebuilding of the Temple released a new TV spot saying, \u201cThe time has arrived.\u201d …<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s the blood moons. Maybe it\u2019s the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem. Or, maybe, suggest other rabbis, now that the majority of Jews in the world now live in Israel, prophecy is read to be fulfilled.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most surprising development is a statement by a well-respected Israeli rabbi, Chaim Kanievsky, a leading authority in Haredi Jewish society, stating unequivocally that the messiah was born July 21.<\/p>\n

Kanievsky, hailed as one of the leading rabbis of his generation, wrote a book, \u201cSiach Nechama,\u201d or \u201cA Comforting Discourse,\u201d that claims the messiah is alive today and when Israel merits it, he will immediately reveal himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Hebrew-language religious news site explained the rabbi based his statement on the Jerusalem Talmud (Tractate Brachot) and Midrash Rabbah, a collection of homiletic teachings believed to have been compiled in the fifth century in Tiberias, which states that the Messiah will be born on Tisha B\u2019Av, which is observed as a fast day mourning the destruction of the Jewish Temples. This year, Tisha B\u2019Av fell on Saturday, July 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems to me that the sages intended to teach us that even when the Temple is destroyed, in any case the Redemption exists,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the Messiah actually exists and lives among us. The idea that the Messiah would be born on B’av is not new to Chaim Kanievsky. Notice something I posted here in July 21, 2018:<\/p>\n

Still, our Torah sages also teach that the Messiah will be born on Tisha B’Av and the saddest part of the regular daily prayers – tachanun <\/em>– is not recited, in the anticipation of the final joyous Redemption that will render Tisha B’Av a day of joy. An old Jerusalem custom was to whitewash the walls of one’s home in the afternoon of the fast, in preparation for the Messiah’s expected arrival.<\/p>\n

So, various Jews believe that the Messiah will be born on Tisha B’Av.<\/p>\n

But let’s look at something from the Hebrew scriptures:<\/p>\n

25 “Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.<\/p>\n

26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. (Daniel 9:25-26)<\/p>\n

As it turns out, Jesus came when that prophecy in the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) said the Prince Messiah would come. The Jews should have realized this.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s look at an explanation from the old Radio Church of God about the Daniel 9 prophecy:<\/p>\n

At the time of Jesus\u2019 life on this earth, Herod \u2014 the king in Judea \u2014 the wise men from the nations to the east, and many of the priests, scribes, and elders, as well as the common people, realized that the seventy weeks prophecy of Daniel 9 was nearing its completion. The Messiah, the Prince, was eagerly looked forward to, to free them from the yoke of Roman oppression. The Messiah was expected because of an understanding of this prophecy. But He was misunderstood when He appeared in the fulfillment of this prophecy, because they refused to recognize the first portion of the prophecy and hung their hope only on the last portion. \u2026<\/p>\n

Here, very plainly, is listed the exact time at which the prophesied Messiah would appear to begin to do the work mentioned in verse 24. The command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem was given by Artaxerxes in 457 B.C. Much of the book of Ezra and the entire book of Nehemiah cover this particular event. Seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks equal sixty-nine weeks. So the prophecies show that from the going forth of the command to rebuild Jerusalem in 457 B. C. it would be 483 years until the appearance of the prophesied Messiah to begin fulfilling the works of verse 24. (Hill DJ. HERE\u2019S WHY Jews Reject Jesus and Christians Reject Christ! Plain Truth, April 1962)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Adding 483 to the year 457 B.C. brings the year 27 A.D. (there was no year \u201czero\u201d between B.C. and A.D.). That brings us to the time that Jesus began His ministry (apparently in the Fall of the year). His ministry is believed to have lasted 3 \u00bd years, hence the veil would have been torn in the Spring of 31 A.D.<\/p>\n

The prophet Hosea was inspired to write the following:<\/p>\n

2<\/sup> After two days will He revive us, On the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His presence. (Hosea 6:2, JPS)<\/p>\n

While there have been comments on the above by Christians and others, for this chapter, let us notice a Jewish interpretation (scriptures in {} added by me):<\/p>\n

Kattina said: Six thousand years shall the world exist, and one [thousand, the seventh], it shall be desolate, as it is written, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day {Isaiah 2:11}.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Abaye said: it will be desolate two [thousand], as it is said, After two days will he revive us: in the third day, he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight {Hosea 6:2}.<\/p>\n

It has been taught in accordance with R. Kattina: Just as the seventh year is one year of release in seven, so is the world: one thousand years out of seven shall be fallow, as it is written, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day,’ and it is further said, A Psalm and song for the Sabbath day {Psalm 92:1},\u00a0 meaning the day that is altogether Sabbath \u2014 and it is also said, For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past {Psalm 90:4}.<\/p>\n

The Tanna debe Eliyyahu {School of Elijah} teaches: The world is to exist six thousand years. In the first two thousand there was desolation;\u00a0 two thousand years the Torah flourished;\u00a0 and the next two thousand years is the Messianic era, but through our many iniquities all these years have been lost. (Babylonian Talmud: Tractate Sanhedrin Folio 97a,b).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Essentially, this Jewish interpretation is that since God has a 6000\/7000 year plan, the 3 days in Hosea somehow represented 2000 years each. Tradition teaches that Elijah the prophet spoke about this. The Talmudic comments support the view that the Messiah was to come four thousand years after Adam and Eve were created (or perhaps when they left the Garden of Eden, though the Bible does not state how long they were in that Garden).<\/p>\n

Since the New Testament shows that Jesus was born during the reign of Herod (Matthew 2:1) and that He was \u201cabout thirty\u201d years of age when His ministry started (Luke 3:23), His ministry started basically when the four thousand years ended. Jesus, therefore, fulfilled a Jewish view here of the timing of the arrival of the Messiah. The \u201cMessianic era\u201d would be something we in the Continuing <\/em>Church of God would call the Messianic age (beginning c. 27 A.D.) or \u201cchurch age\u201d (it began c. 31 A.D.) and it has lasted almost two thousand years. Jesus arrived when the Messiah was prophesied to arrive.<\/p>\n

But people like Chaim Kanievsky have not accepted this Talmudic interpretation.<\/p>\n

The Jews should have accepted Jesus, but, as prophesied in the Bible, most rejected Him:<\/p>\n

3<\/sup> He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. (Isaiah 53:3)<\/p>\n

21<\/sup> The governor answered and said to them, \u201cWhich of the two do you want me to release to you?\u201d They said, \u201cBarabbas!\u201d 22<\/sup> Pilate said to them, \u201cWhat then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?\u201d They all said to him, \u201cLet Him be crucified!\u201d 23<\/sup> Then the governor said, \u201cWhy, what evil has He done?\u201d But they cried out all the more, saying, \u201cLet Him be crucified!\u201d (Matthew 27:21-23)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Jews expected Jesus to come as a king. But on His first coming He came as a Prince.<\/p>\n

The Messiah was not born on the 21st of July–Jesus already came!<\/p>\n
