The catastrophic threat to national security: Exploding debt<\/h2>\n

The politics of division imposes an invisible cost to the Nation.\u00a0 Divisive politics inherently mean that almost no common ground exists for action on issues of great importance, and falling into the chasm between the two parties are calamitous dangers to national security that make our actual headlines today pale in comparison. One such danger in the political no-man\u2019s-land is not even being discussed, and so no one is working on a solution: the national debt.<\/p>\n

Almost ten years ago, Admiral Mike Mullen<\/a>, then Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, did\u00a0not\u00a0identify an adversary nation or terrorist organization as the paramount threat to our country. He stated emphatically: \u201cThe most significant threat to our national security is our debt<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the decade since then, the U.S. has continued to pursue two wars and other conflicts, largely outside the budget process<\/a> and with no war tax<\/a> to ameliorate the more than $5 trillion<\/a> that has been spent. …<\/p>\n

Until our political leaders move the national debt to a central focus, view it as a threat to national security, and work for immediate and yet long-term non-partisan solutions, the U.S. is at risk. That risk may not be existential, but it is a deadly risk to American prosperity, our way of life, our leadership in the world and perhaps to our system of government.\u00a0 09\/23\/18 https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/national-security\/407885-the-catastrophic-threat-to-national-security-exploding-debt<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the US Treasury’s latest Monthly Treasury Statement<\/a>, in August, the US collected\u00a0 $219 billion in tax receipts – consisting of $106 billion in individual income tax, $93 billion in social security and payroll tax, a negative $3 billion in corporate tax and $24 billion in other taxes and duties- a drop of 3.2% from the $226 billion collected last August. And then it spent $433 billion.<\/p>\n

Here is another report about it:<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The federal government racked up a $214.1 billion deficit in August, double the red ink from a year ago, although a big part of that increase reflected quirks in the calendar.<\/p>\n

The Treasury Department said … the August deficit pushed the deficit for the first 11 months of the budget year to $898.1 billion, 33 percent higher than the same period a year ago.<\/p>\n

With just one month to go in this budget year, the government is on track to run up the biggest annual deficit in six years.<\/p>\n

The August imbalance, which was a record for the month of August, looked worse because large benefit payments that would have been made in September got pushed into August because Sept. 1 fell on a Saturday. https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/business\/us-budget-deficit-hits-214-1-billion-in-august\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While ‘timing’ accounts for some debt, the reality is that the total admitted USA debt is ballooning. It keeps expanding.<\/p>\n

This is not good.<\/p>\n

Notice the following:<\/p>\n

In case anyone is still unaware, government debt is out-of-control. It doubled under President Obama, and it is anticipated to increase for 50 percent in the next ten years.<\/a><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just the repayment of debt that presents a potential crisis; it\u2019s the interest payments.<\/a> With a clear correlation between government debt and diminished growth, a natural first step would be for the government to ease its deficit spending on programs such Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare to decrease the waste inherent in some of these programs.<\/p>\n

Interest rates are expected to rise to $1 trillion<\/a> during the next decade. That is more than the US spends each year on Medicaid and its military. It will cost $55,000 per household over the next ten years just to service debt.<\/a> …<\/p>\n

The once-great country of America appears to be on the decline, paralyzed by mounting debts it cannot handle. …<\/p>\n

As of January, foreign investors own $6.35 trillion<\/a> in US bonds, with China and Japan the largest investors, with a total of $2 trillion. When the demand for treasury bonds decreases, the Federal Reserve will need to increase interest rates, which increases the cost of borrowing. http:\/\/www.goldtelegraph.com\/america-paralyzed-by-mounting-debts<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At this moment, I consider the above scenario overly optimistic.<\/p>\n

As USA debt rises, the US Federal Reserve raises interest rates (see US debt over $21 trillion, Fed raises interest rates, debt to continue to climb<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This puts more pressure on the debt and the ability to repay it.<\/p>\n

Shortly after becoming US President, Barack Obama said that the levels of deficit spending that the USA was engaging in was “unsustainable.” Something that is unsustainable cannot continue indefinitely. The rise of USA debt is unsustainable.<\/p>\n

And Donald Trump has called himself “the king of debt.”<\/p>\n

Debt is going up under his administration.<\/p>\n

The Anglo-American world order will come to an end. Accumulation of debt, and then having to pay historically \u2018normal\u2019 interest rates will strain the national economies of the USA and Canada more than almost anyone will believe. It will be a financial crisis beyond what most pundits would consider possible.<\/p>\n

According to the Bible, one day this debt will pop as creditors get upset:<\/p>\n

2 <\/strong>And the Lord answered me:<\/p>\n

\u201cWrite the vision;
\nmake it plain on tablets,
\nso he may run who reads it.
\n3 <\/strong>For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
\nit hastens to the end\u2014it will not lie.
\nIf it seems slow, wait for it;
\nit will surely come; it will not delay.<\/p>\n

4 <\/strong>\u201cBehold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
\nbut the righteous shall live by his faith.<\/p>\n

5 <\/strong>\u201cMoreover, wine is a traitor,
\nan arrogant man who is never at rest.
\nHis greed is as wide as Sheol;
\nlike death he has never enough.
\nHe gathers for himself all nations
\nand collects as his own all peoples.\u201d<\/p>\n

6<\/strong> Shall not all these take up their taunt against him, with scoffing and riddles for him, and say,<\/p>\n

\u201cWoe to him who heaps up what is not his own\u2014
\nfor how long?\u2014
\nand loads himself with pledges!\u201d
\n7 <\/strong>Will not your debtors suddenly arise,
\nand those awake who will make you tremble?
\nThen you will be spoil for them.
\n8 <\/strong>Because you have plundered many nations,
\nall the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you,
\nfor the blood of man and violence to the earth,
\nto cities and all who dwell in them. (Habakkuk 2:2-8; English Standard Version)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The USA is the most indebted nation in the history of humanity and those in it should try to understand this prophecy\u2013rising interest rates mean that it will cost the US government more to service its debt\u2013this will one day be truly unsustainable.<\/p>\n

The Rear Admiral is mistaken if he does not believe that the debt is an existential threat, because according to the Bible it is.<\/p>\n

Notice specifically that God tells Habakkuk that those who read this should run\u2013that means they should take proper spiritual action now (cf. Luke 21:36), and then, eventually physically flee (cf. Revelation 12:14-16; see also There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Near Petra<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Those who think the current world order with the USA\u2019s dollar on top will last several decades are in error.<\/p>\n

Repentance is needed. The USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies will not last to the end of this century (watch also End of the Anglo-American Order<\/a>).<\/p>\n
