In the early hours of January 21, there will be a total lunar eclipse, also known as a blood moon, which coincides with a supermoon\u2014making it a super blood moon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anna Ross, an astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, London, tells Newsweek<\/em>\u00a0all about the event.<\/p>\n

What is a total lunar eclipse and how rare is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly through the Earth\u2019s full shadow (umbra). Due to the moon having an irregular orbit, this does not happen every time it is at the opposite side of the Earth to the sun, but only when the angles and distances are just right\u2014otherwise we see either a full moon or a partial or penumbral eclipse. …<\/p>\n

Does this event have any effect on Earth, e.g., tides?<\/strong><\/p>\n

During lunar eclipses, the sun and moon are at opposite sides of the Earth to each other, putting the three bodies in the same orientation as during a full moon. When the sun and moon are in line, their gravitational pulls on our seas are combined. This causes higher high tides and lower low tides, also known as Spring Tides. Additionally, during a supermoon, the moon is at perigee (or closest approach to the Earth) causing its gravitational pull to be stronger and our tides to be a little more extreme (by a couple of inches). Blood moons and super blood moons are natural phenomena.\u00a0 Yes, tides may be affected. But some have improperly pointed to naturally-occurring blood moons as a sign of the Great Tribulation or other prophetic matters. The one expected for January 21, 2019 is no exception to that:<\/p>\n

Will the blood moon in January 2019 signal the end of the world?<\/h3>\n

Pastor Begley points to some key Biblical passages as evidence of the end of the earth being nearly upon us.<\/p>\n

Known as the blood moon prophecy, they include one \u2018warning\u2019 from the Book of Joel 2:31.<\/p>\n

The passage reads: \u201cThe sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another can be found in the Book of Revelation 6:12.<\/p>\n

This one states: \u201cAnd I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pastor Begley said: \u201cIs this an omen? Is this a sign of things that will happen in those following two years?<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, this is definitely a sign of the end times and America plays a key role in the end times.<\/p>\n

Where can you watch January’s blood moon?<\/h3>\n

January\u2019s blood moon will be visible from the United States, South America, western Europe and Africa between January 20 and 21.<\/p>\n

THE end of the world could be just over a month away if biblical conspiracy theorists are correct about the Blood Moon prophecy. A doomsday preacher has now warned there is nothing to say the world will not end on January 22.<\/p>\n

The Blood Moon prophecy claims the world\u2019s fiery demise will be preceded by a menacing omen in the skies. Doom-mongers and online conspiracists believe the upcoming January 21 Super Blood Moon is such an omen.<\/p>\n

On the night of the Blood Moon, the glowing disc of the lunar orb will take on a deep red, almost blood-like, hue. Pastor Paul Begley, an evangelical preacher from Indiana, US, is one of the many doomsday prophets who believe the Blood Moon is a warning of the apocalypse.<\/p>\n

According to UK Express paper, Lunar Eclipse 2019 over America: When is the next Blood Moon in USA? Blood Moon 2019:<\/p>\n

In his opinion, the \u201cheavens are already shaking\u201d and the \u201ccoming of the Lord\u201d is fast approaching.<\/p>\n

And though pastor Begley refrained this week from confirming the world will indeed perish in hellfire on January 22, he suggested this is a possible outcome of the Blood Moon. http:\/\/www.maravipost.com\/end-of-the-world-on-january-22-bible-expert-addresses-super-blood-moon-doom-prophecy\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No, it is not possible that the world will end in 2019 or that January 21 blood moon is more than a natural phenomena. The scriptures Paul Begley referred to are NOT fulfilled until well AFTER the start of the Great Tribulation.<\/p>\n

Years ago, I denounced the view that the ‘blood moons’ of 2014 and 2015 could mean that Jesus would return or that the ‘Day of the Lord’ was about to start. This was something that Mark Biltz (who practices Messianic Judaism<\/a>) started promoting back in 2008–but he was wrong. I also denounced the super blood moon prophetic nonsense in 2018 and am also now denouncing the super blood moon prophetic nonsense for 2019.<\/p>\n

World Net Daily<\/em> (WND) promoted Mark Biltz before and here is something it posted related to him last year for the 2018 and 2019 super blood moons:<\/p>\n

Blood moons and eclipses have come and gone. But the signs of the times are getting more ominous than ever. <\/a><\/p>\n

As if the total solar eclipse last August<\/a> and the \u201cblood moons\u201d of 2014 and 2015 <\/a> weren\u2019t enough, there will be a \u201csuper blue blood moon eclipse\u201d on Jan. 31 \u2013 something that hasn\u2019t happened for 150 years.<\/p>\n

And this rare event could herald war and turbulence on earth, according to a leading researcher of astronomical signs and how they interact with Scripture.<\/p>\n

Rather than just looking skyward, Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, the man who discovered the \u201cBlood Moons\u201d phenomenon<\/a>, says people need to be looking to their Bibles.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany people seem to be overlooking the real importance of this event,\u201d Biltz told WND. \u201cThe \u2018super moon\u2019 which takes place on January 31 is what is termed a \u2018blue moon,\u2019 because it is the second full moon in one month. It\u2019s also going to be a total lunar eclipse, making it a \u2018blood moon\u2019 as well. This is the first time there\u2019s been a total eclipse for a blue moon in 150 years, which makes it remarkable enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what makes this truly mind blowing is when this will happen biblically! The eclipse will take place on Tu B\u2019Shevat on the biblical calendar, the fifteenth day of the month of Shevat. This is important because this upcoming eclipse is only one of a series. The next one is on July 27, which is Tu B\u2019Av or the fifteenth of Av on the biblical calendar. The next one is January 21, 2019 \u2013 which just so happens to be Tu B\u2019Shevat again!\u201d<\/p>\n

Biltz, author of \u201cGod\u2019s Day Timer,\u201d<\/a> stresses he is not saying anything will happen on Jan. 31, the date of this blood moon. However, he argues the specific dates involved show God is sending an important message.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are very significant biblical dates, and now we have two blood red moons bookending each other in 2018 and 2019 on Tu B\u2019Shevat,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is fascinating prophetically because there is a section of Scripture in which Zechariah receives a revelation of a red horse being given a great sword to take peace from the Earth. And this takes place in the month of Shevat!\u201d<\/p>\n

The relevant section of the Bible, Zechariah 1: 7-8, reads:<\/p>\n

Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lordunto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,<\/p>\n

I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cNot surprisingly, Zechariah asks what this is all about, and he receives some incredible insight from an angel who is nearby,\u201d Biltz explained. In verse 12, we are told, \u201cThen the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?\u201d<\/p>\n

Biltz argues this message is of key importance for people alive today.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you see the amazing pattern?\u201d he asked. \u201cThe vision of the horses are of the four horses from Revelation. And this vision takes place at the end of a 70-year period (three score and ten) which is given to Israel. Israel is now celebrating its seventieth anniversary.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n

He also argues the mention of the \u201csecond year of Darius\u201d is also of critical importance, as the second year of President Trump\u2019s administration approaches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Both Mark Biltz and WND’s founder Joseph Farah consider themselves to be ‘Messianic Jews.’ While this means that they will avoid biblically unclean meats<\/a>, keep the Sabbath<\/a>, observe the biblical holy days<\/a>, and hold to parts of a few Church of God doctrines, the Messianics are NOT Church of God Christians (see also Messianic Judaism Beliefs Differ from the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a>). Like the Seventh-day Adventists<\/a>, they are basically a type of Protestant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WND promotes him, but Mark Biltz has been wrong. He misled many about the \u201cblood moons\u201d a couple of years ago (see also WND continues to promote Mark Biltz\u2019 blood moon nonsense<\/a>) and about the 2017 solar eclipse being a sign from God.<\/p>\n

The Bible teaches:<\/p>\n

2 The LORD says, \u201cDo not start following pagan religious practices. Do not be in awe of signs that occur in the sky even though the nations hold them in awe. 3 For the religion of these people is worthless. They cut down a tree in the forest, and a craftsman makes it into an idol with his tools. 4 He decorates it with overlays of silver and gold. He uses hammer and nails to fasten it together so that it will not fall over. (Jeremiah 10:2-4, NET Bible)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pastor Paul Begley is trying to tell people to be in awe of something that does not have prophetic significance.<\/p>\n

Do not be like the pagans and read things into astronomical phenomena that people like Mark Biltz and Paul Begley have been pushing. How people like them twist scriptures (cf. 2 Peter 3:16) and connect things while overlooking what the Bible teaches reminds me a lot of the late Harold Camping, whose detailed calculations and predictions were later proven wrong (see Harold Camping\u2019s Teachings About the End of the World Do Not Agree with the Bible<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

So, before the next ‘super blood moon occurs, I again want to inform people that this eclipse is a natural phenomenon and not anything that is a direct message from God.<\/p>\n

Because there are many false and heretical leaders that lead people astray on prophecy and sometimes they mention the Bible to try to act like God sanctions their nonsense, they should be denounced as false.<\/p>\n

All should REALLY pay attention to the Bible.<\/p>\n

We in the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> \u201chave also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts\u201d (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).\u201d<\/p>\n

Thus, you can be certain that the upcoming ‘super blood moon’ is not a message from God next month.<\/p>\n
