leaders, the Munich Security Conference and similar meetings are now taking on extra importance.<\/p>\n

“We are facing various intrusion attempts in our cyberspace and into our democratic life … We have to protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States,” said French President\u00a0Emmanuel Macron<\/a>\u00a0in November 2018.<\/p>\n

But how bad are the prospects for managing global tensions and trouble spots? What risks and opportunities lie ahead in 2019? And what’s the state of\u00a0NATO<\/a>\u00a0under President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>?<\/p>\n

“I can’t think of a decade when the Transatlantic Alliance didn’t have a problem,” Wolfgang Ischinger, chairman of the Munich Security Conference, tells Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n

“There is a clear commitment by the United States in the military field. The US has not deserted Europe, but … at the political level, some of the words spoken, some of the tweets tweeted [by President Trump] have created uncertainties in the minds of many Europeans. That’s bad,” says Ischinger. …<\/p>\n

Ischinger believes that a more common European defence policy and the creation of a European army is inevitable. “It’s necessary … if there is a question mark about the reliability of our American partner (and) if we have a huge question mark about Russian intentions. Look what’s going on in the Russian neighbourhood. There are Russian troops in Ukraine; there are Russian troops in parts of what used to be Georgia; there are Russian troops still in Moldova. There is still the unresolved conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. All around this zone surrounding Russia, we have military issues.”<\/p>\n

As a result, Ischinger says, “We as Europeans need to hedge against the possibility that there might be yet another, a military issue coming our way. That is unfortunately the case.”<\/p>\n

“All our welfare, all our social expenditures, all our accumulated wealth, all our employment is worth nothing if we don’t have security,” stresses Ischinger. …<\/p>\n

“The European Union should be far more capable than it is today, to speak with one voice and to defend and represent the interests of 500 million people. European leaders have been openly calling for a European army and a European empire. Leaders in the UK and USA have opposed this (see Donald Trump lashes out against Europe defending itself\u2013Europeans pushing for an empire<\/a> and WWIII: \u2018THIRD TIME THE CHARM? Now, not everyone agrees that Europe will actually get its own army:<\/p>\n

“European army” is not a serious suggestion<\/h2>\n

French President Emmanuel Macron\u2019s recent call for the creation of a \u201creal European army\u201d is a product of a perfect storm in which Paris\u2019 decades-long effort to break the European continent free of leadership from Washington has been boosted by President Donald Trump\u2019s obvious disdain for NATO and America\u2019s European allies. …<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Until the European Union is truly a sovereign, unified state \u2014 and not an amalgamation of 28 distinct governments as it is today \u2014 there can be no politically viable \u201csupreme command\u201d over such a force. Even if it were possible to get an agreement among the various capitals to create a European army, its utility would be minimal since employing it would require a consensus among those same capitals about when to do so. …<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the Bible, will Europe reorganize and get its own army?<\/p>\n

Notice the following prophecies:<\/p>\n

12 \u201cThe ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet<\/strong>, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.\u00a0 (Revelation 17:12-13)<\/p>\n

25 \u201cHe shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South with a great army. (Daniel 11:25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The \u201cHe\u201d is identified as the final prophesied European<\/a> King of the North<\/a> in Daniel 11:40 (watch also Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

So, yes, Europe will reorganize and get its own army.<\/p>\n

This will not end well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39), its Anglo-Saxon allies (cf. Daniel 8:24-25), nor the Islamic-dominated lands of the Middle East and North Africa (Daniel 11:40-43)–nor will it work out well in the long-run for Europe (Daniel 2:41-44, 11:44-45; Revelation 17:14)<\/p>\n

PESCO and a Great European Army<\/a><\/h3>\n

In November 2018, French President Macron called for a “true European army” because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States of Europe and a European army a “paranoid fantasy” or a biblical reality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? Will the USA be betrayed by “friends” such as its continental European allies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? As far as Europe and the USA goes, consider that in Lamentations 1:1-2, it indicates that the USA will be betrayed and destroyed militarily by its “friends.”<\/p>\n

WWIII, which essentially is the start of the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21-22) will involve the destruction of the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies from a European military force.<\/p>\n

Europe will get that power.<\/p>\n
