Here is some background:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"article-header__title\">China\u2019s Massive Belt and Road Initiative<\/h2>\n<p class=\"entry-title\">In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the launch of both the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, infrastructure development and investment initiatives that would stretch from East Asia to Europe. The project, eventually termed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) but sometimes known as the New Silk Road, is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever conceived. It harkens back to the original Silk Road, which connected Europe to Asia centuries ago, enriching traders from the Atlantic to the Pacific. &#8230;<\/p>\n<h4>What was the original Silk Road?<\/h4>\n<p>The Silk Road came into being during the westward expansion of China\u2019s Han Dynasty (206 BCE\u2013220 CE), which forged trade networks throughout what are today the Central Asian countries of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as modern-day India and Pakistan to the south. Those routes extended more than four thousand miles to Europe. &#8230;<\/p>\n<h4>What are China\u2019s plans for its New Silk Road? &#8230;<\/h4>\n<p>Xi\u2019s vision included creating a vast network of railways, energy pipelines, highways, and streamlined border crossings, both westward\u2014through the mountainous former Soviet republics\u2014and southward, to Pakistan, India, and the rest of Southeast Asia. Such a network would expand the <a title=\"international use\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/1587046\/1-pakistan-mulls-using-chinese-currency-bilateral-trade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">international use<\/a> of Chinese currency, the renminbi, while new infrastructure could \u201c<a title=\"break the bottleneck in Asian connectivity\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fmprc.gov.cn\/ce\/ceindo\/eng\/jrzg\/t1211795.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">break the bottleneck in Asian connectivity<\/a>,\u201d according to Xi. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Xi subsequently announced plans for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road at the 2013 summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Indonesia. To accommodate expanding maritime trade traffic, China would invest in port development along the Indian Ocean, from Southeast Asia all the way to East Africa. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s overall ambition for the BRI is staggering. To date, more than sixty countries\u2014accounting for two-thirds of the world\u2019s population\u2014have signed on to projects or indicated an interest in doing so. 02\/21\/19 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfr.org\/backgrounder\/chinas-massive-belt-and-road-initiative\">https:\/\/www.cfr.org\/backgrounder\/chinas-massive-belt-and-road-initiative<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"\/pcg.htm\">PCG<\/a> reported about Iran and its involvement in the BRI:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"heading heading-bottom\">Iran Ready to Join China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative<\/h2>\n<p>February 26, 2019<\/p>\n<p>A report by Iran\u2019s government-affiliated Tasnim News Agency on February 20 stated that Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said his nation is prepared to cooperate with China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative. Iran served as an important trading hub in the ancient Silk Road between the East and the West for millennia; it has far greater potential in the New Silk Road.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Before going further, perhaps it should be pointed out that Iran expressed interest in the Silk Road project in the past, as I posted the following here last Spring:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"underline\">Iran&#8217;s top trading partner is China, while Tehran and Moscow have been improving ties as the three countries move closer to cementing a solid alliance &#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>the actual, working Iran nuclear deal, known by the ungainly acronym JCPOA, is at the heart of it. &#8230; And faithful to the slowly evolving Eurasia integration roadmap, Russia and China are at the forefront of supporting Iran.<\/p>\n<p>China is Iran\u2019s top trading partner \u2013 especially because of its energy imports. Iran for its part is a major food importer. Russia aims to cover this front. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>For Beijing, Iran is an absolutely key hub of the New Silk Roads, or the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). A key BRI project is the $2.5 billion, 926 kilometer high-speed railway from Tehran to Mashhad; for that China came up with a $1.6 billion loan \u2013 the first foreign-backed project in Iran after the signing of the JCPOA. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Despite historical frictions, Iran and Russia are getting <a href=\"https:\/\/russia-insider.com\/en\/russia-iran-ties-surge-under-us-pressure\/ri23300\">closer and closer<\/a>. Tehran provides crucial <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irna.ir\/en\/News\/82888562\">strategic depth<\/a> to Moscow\u2019s Southwest Asia presence. And Moscow unequivocally supports the JCPOA. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atimes.com\/article\/eurasia-torn-between-war-and-peace\/\">http:\/\/www.atimes.com\/article\/eurasia-torn-between-war-and-peace\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As the photo in the Tweet at the beginning of this post show, a proposed road goes to Iran&#8217;s capital, Tehran.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/pcg.htm\">PCG<\/a>&#8216;s article today also had the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p><em>Trumpet<\/em> editor in chief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrumpet.com\/18624-about-gerald-flurry\">Gerald Flurry<\/a> describes the 2016 nuclear deal\u2014signed by Iran along with China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union to curb Iran\u2019s nuclear growth\u2014as the \u201cworst foreign-policy blunder in American history.\u201d He writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>January 16, 2016, marked the implementation of the nuclear deal with Iran. The U.S. and the European Union lifted sanctions on Iran, released over $100 billion in frozen assets, and welcomed Iran into a whole rush of economic deals. And they received nothing in return. Iran changed nothing in its policies of aggression, subversion and sponsoring terrorism. &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mr. Flurry forecast this &#8230; \u201cWhy was Iran so eager to jump into major business deals with Europe? Because it wants to get so involved in the global economy that nobody would dare try to push it back out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How did Mr. Flurry know this ahead of time? Because he bases his forecasts on specific prophecies in the Bible. The Prophet Daniel wrote of a \u201cking of the south\u201d that would rise in the last days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over\u201d (Daniel 11:40).<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Flurry identified this \u201cking of the south\u201d as radical Islam, led by Iran.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>No, I do not believe that Gerald Flurry came to the conclusion that Iran would be involved with major business deals with Europe because of Daniel 11:40. Iran is NOT one of the nations listed as leading the King of the South in Daniel 11:40-43. Being basically east of Jerusalem, Iran will not lead the coming <a href=\"\/south.htm\">King of the South<\/a>. As far as business deals, all of us who seriously watched the Iranian nuclear deal could see that Europe wanted to make major business deals with Iran. When is the earliest year that Armageddon can occur? What are some of the events that have to happen prior to the start of Armageddon? Whether or not he can be around for Armageddon, what are some of the ways that US President Donald Trump is apocalyptic? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and does explain the earliest time when Armageddon can occur. It is the sixth of seven bowls of God\u2019s wrath:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, \u201cGo and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.\u201d (Revelation 16:1)<\/p>\n<p>12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of<strong> the kings from the east<\/strong> might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.<\/p>\n<p>15 \u201cBehold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For them to gather, they must cross over land to get to Armageddon.<\/p>\n<p>The kings of the east reference refers to Asian nations, including Russia, whose border extends to the farthest parts of the east\u2013and China which is commonly believed to be part of the \u2018far east.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>While the primary road of the BRI\/Silk Road project does not go to Armageddon, it will make getting there a lot easier. Over 60 nations, including Russia, are involved with this. Could this Silk Road project possibly produce thoroughfares that could be used by troops that will amass at Armageddon?
