The US has warned the European Union that plans to boost defense cooperation within the EU could undo decades of trans-Atlantic cooperation and damage NATO. The EU’s foreign policy chief said US concerns were unfounded. …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self-reliance in the EU<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US concerns are \nfocused on the seven-year, \u20ac13-billion ($14.6 billion) European Defense \nFund (EDF) approved by the European Parliament in April, and the EU \ndefense pact Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO)<\/a>.\n The plans would see EU states cooperate on projects to develop new \nmilitary equipment such as fighter planes and drones, and on support \nsystems such as military hospitals and training centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said Europeans were doing what the Americans had been demanding<\/a> for many years: building up their defense capabilities. She said it was necessary to trust that NATO would benefit<\/a> from their collective efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the US had written of its suspicions: “The draft EDF regulation and PESCO general conditions represent a dramatic reversal of the last three decades of increased integration of the trans-Atlantic defense sector,” US Undersecretary of Defense Ellen Lord and US arms control negotiator Andrea Thompson, wrote in their May 1 letter to Mogherini. https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/us-warns-eu-over-13-billion-defense-spending\/a-48738562<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US has objected to insufficient European military spending in the past, but should not be surprised that Europe, as it spends more, will have its own spending priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now as far as military spending goes, notice the following chart:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The USA does spend about twice as much on its military than all the other NATO nations combined–and combined they have a larger economy than the USA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I have written for years, Europe will spend more, and the USA will not like how that will end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Donald Trump’s election, many leaders in Europe have publicly stated that Europe must defend itself. And Europe has taken steps. And the USA is starting to get a hint that this will not go as well as the USA wants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We, in a sense, should consider PESCO the EU\u2019s alternative to NATO.<\/a>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bible shows that Europe will end up with “a great army” (Daniel 11:25).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partially\n because of Donald Trump, various ones in Europe have taken some steps \nand agreed to take more responsibility for defense (e.g. PESCO: EU\u2019s alternative to NATO?<\/a> and Europe moving towards its own army \u2018Europe may soon produce its own Trumps\u2019<\/a> and With PESCO, EU entering a \u2018New Era\u2019: An era that will NOT end well for the USA, Canada, or the UK<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many see this as reasonable and logical–particularly in the light of real and alleged comments from US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet\n for now, while Europe may appear to be supportive of NATO, in the end \nEurope will betray the NATO members of the USA, Canada, and UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider the following prophecies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

21\n And in his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give \nthe honor of royalty; but he shall come in peaceably, and seize the \nkingdom by intrigue. (Daniel 11:21)<\/p>

39 Thus he shall act against \nthe strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge,\n and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and \ndivide the land for gain. … the king of the North (Daniel 11:39, 40)<\/p>

23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom,
When the transgressors have reached their fullness,
A king shall arise,
Having fierce features,
Who understands sinister schemes.
24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power;
He shall destroy fearfully,
And shall prosper and thrive;
He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.<\/p>

25 “Through his cunning
He shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule;
And he shall exalt himself in his heart.
He shall destroy many in their prosperity. (Daniel 8:23-25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The above leader is the final European<\/a> King of the North Beast<\/a>\n power. He will eliminate the USA and the UK. It is likely that he may \nattack under the guise of a NATO exercise and\/or otherwise feign \nmilitary support for the USA and the UK. Regular readers of this page \nrealize I have been warning about this for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By pushing the Europeans to spend more on their militaries, the USA and UK have been ‘sowing wind,’ but will reap the whirlwind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 … But the calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.<\/p>

7 “They sow the wind,
And reap the whirlwind.
The stalk has no bud;
It shall never produce meal.
If it should produce,
Aliens would swallow it up.
8 Israel is swallowed up;
Now they are among the Gentiles
Like a vessel in which is no pleasure.
9 For they have gone up to Assyria,
Like a wild donkey alone by itself;
Ephraim has hired lovers. (Hosea 8:6-9)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The reference to ‘Samaria’ above refers to the USA (see Spiritual Samaritans: Old and New<\/a>)\n and the reference to Ephraim above refers to the UK, Canada, Australia,\n and New Zealand (for biblically-related details, check out the article Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel<\/a>).\n Assyria is a reference to a European power based out of central Europe \n(for biblically-related details, check out the article Germany in Biblical Prophecy<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe<\/a>\n will need to reorganize, but the Bible tells of at least two more \nreorganizations to come in Europe in Revelation 17:2-13 (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While some do not believe that Europe \nwants to destroy the USA or is capable of rising up to take over the \nUSA, Canada, and the UK, consider the following two portions of \nscripture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.
6 I will send him against an ungodly nation,
And against the people of My wrath
I will give him charge,
To seize the spoil, to take the prey,
And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Yet he does not mean so,
Nor does his heart think so;
But it is in his heart to destroy,
And cut off not a few nations.
8 For he says,
‘Are not my princes altogether kings?
9 Is not Calno like Carchemish?
Is not Hamath like Arpad?
Is not Samaria like Damascus?
10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols,
Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria,
11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols,
Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?'” (Isaiah 10:5-11)<\/p>

2\n Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the \nfeet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave \nhim his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his \nheads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was \nhealed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they \nworshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped\n the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with\n him? (Revelation 13:2-4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Bible shows that the European power (called Assyria in Isaiah 10; see also Germany in Biblical Prophecy<\/a>)\n does not think it intends to be militaristic, but that it will and will\n conquer. The Bible shows that the world will marvel that Europe was \nable to be such a military power as Europe basically had been dismissed \nas irrelevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is quite likely that some version of NATO will \nsurvive, but that Europe will use NATO as a shield from Russia, and \neventually turn against the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies. \nThat will essentially be a fulfillment of the following:1<\/strong> \n How lonely sits the city That was full of people! How like a widow is \nshe, Who was great among the nations! The princess among the provinces \nHas become a slave! 2<\/strong> \n She weeps bitterly in the night, Her tears are on her cheeks; Among all\n her lovers She has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt \ntreacherously with her; They have become her enemies. (Lamentations \n1:1-2)
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That will be the end of NATO and the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\n those that think this could not happen to the USA, recall that Daniel \n11:39 shows that a European power will destroy the ‘strongest \nfortresses’–which in the 21st century belong to the USA, this shows \nthat the USA will be defeated, despite its military strength (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PESCO and a Great European Army<\/a>

In\n November 2018, French President Macron called for a \u201ctrue European \narmy\u201d because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have \nechoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump \ncalled that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted \u201ca very\n strong Europe.\u201d Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as \u201cmy friend\u201d\n and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe\u2019s military spending. In \nDecember 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military \nalliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up \nwith \u201ca great army\u201d? Has Donald Trump\u2019s announcement to withdraw from \nthe 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say \nthat Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States \nof Europe and a European army a \u201cparanoid fantasy\u201d or a biblical \nreality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? \nWill the USA be betrayed by \u201cfriends\u201d such as its continental European \nallies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? Europe is taking military steps and the USA is encouraging them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will not end well for the USA, many Muslim countries, nor even Europe (cf. Daniel 11:39-45; Revelation 17:14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
