Scientists have concluded that the Earth may be hit with an asteroid in a few months:<\/p>\n

June 8, 2019<\/p>\n

The fact of the matter is, there aren’t any more near-Earth asteroids than there used to be. We’re just getting good at detecting them.<\/p>\n

The latest one is called 2006QV89<\/a> (We’re going to call it QV for short), and it’s a football field-sized chunk of rock. But don’t let that frighten you, it’s really only 40 meters in diameter (48.5 meters wide x 109 meters long.)<\/p>\n

Some are feeling panicky, (or they couldn’t care less but want you to panic for clicks). Part of the problem is that the ESA has put it on their risk list<\/a>, which sounds ominous. …<\/p>\n

Seriously though, this one’s nothing to worry about. NASA and the ESA and other space-smart countries are always keeping an eye on the skies and cataloguing all the Near-Earth-Objects<\/a> (NEOs) just in case one comes for us. https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/that-asteroid-everyone-s-freaking-out-about-has-a-super-low-chance-of-hitting-us<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An asteroid as big as the Statue of Liberty could hit Earth this year<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the 9th of September, an asteroid called 2006QV89 will come perilously close to our planet and could even smash into us. At 40 metres wide, the object is not big enough to destroy humanity or even kill large numbers of people.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s about twice as large as the 20 metres object which exploded in the skies over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in 2013. The \u2018airburst\u2019 caused by this detonating meteorite left about 400 people injured, with most wounds caused by shards of flying glass from windows smashed by the shockwave.<\/p>\n

If 2006QV89 exploded over a big city like London or New York, the damage could be much greater, although we\u2019re still only talking about a relatively small number of deaths in the very worst case scenario. …<\/p>\n

Pastor Paul Begley, a preacher with a record of predicting apocalypses which never happen, published an unintentionally hilarious YouTube video in which he screamed \u2018asteroids, ASTEROIDS\u2019 and made the following statement: \u2018The danger of deep, deep impact is certainly before us. \u2018The Book of Revelation tells us we\u2019re going to have at least two deep impacts in these end times, the first hitting the sea and killing a third of people on the land.\u2019 Happily, we can report 2006QV89 is way too small to threaten the survival of our species so the end times will have to wait. 06\/06\/19 https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2019\/06\/06\/asteroid-big-statue-liberty-hit-earth-year-9839755\/?ito=cbshare<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But, it is possible that an asteroid could hit–and that could cause problems in the locale it could hit.<\/p>\n

We seem to be in the time that Jesus referred to as “the beginning of sorrows”:<\/p>\n

And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Getting hit by a large asteroid certainly would be a type of trouble. But it would not destroy most life on the Earth. Getting hit by a small one could, depending upon where it hit, cause serious local damage.<\/p>\n

Yet, as Jesus stated in Matthew 24:6 during the beginning of sorrows, “the end is not yet.”<\/p>\n

As far as asteroids go, here is some information about them and the asteroid belt:<\/p>\n

Most asteroids lie in a vast ring between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. This main belt holds more than 200 asteroids larger than 60 miles (100 kilometers) in diameter. Scientists estimate the asteroid belt also contains more than 750,000 asteroids larger than three-fifths of a mile (1 kilometer) in diameter and millions of smaller ones. Not everything in the main belt is an asteroid \u2014 for instance, comets have recently been discovered there, and Ceres, once thought of only as an asteroid, is now also considered a dwarf planet.<\/p>\n

Many asteroids lie outside the main belt. For instance, a number of asteroids called Trojans lie along Jupiter\u2019s orbital path\u2026An asteroid capable of global disaster would have to be more than a quarter-mile wide. Researchers have estimated that such an impact would raise enough dust into the atmosphere to effectively create a \u201cnuclear winter,\u201d severely disrupting agriculture around the world. Asteroids that large strike Earth only once every 1,000 centuries <\/em>on average, NASA officials say. http:\/\/www.space.com\/51-asteroids-formation-discovery-and-exploration.html<\/a><\/p>\n

About 1,000 asteroids big enough to cause catastrophic damage if they hit Earth are orbiting relatively nearby, a NASA survey shows\u2026An asteroid or comet between 5 and 10 km (3.1 and 6.2 miles) in diameter is believed to have smashed into Earth some 65 million years ago, triggering global climate changes that led to the extinction of dinosaurs and other animals. \u201cWe know something that big could wipe out mostly all life on Earth,\u201d Mainzer said. http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2011\/12\/07\/us-space-asteroids-idUSTRE7B615O20111207<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The September 9, 2019 asteroid is NOT about to eliminate all life on the Earth.<\/p>\n

That being said, years after the start of the Great Tribulation (which will not start until at least 2023), the Earth will be hit hard by something from outer-space called Wormwood.<\/p>\n

Over 1900 years ago, the Apostle John <\/a>was inspired to write about Wormwood and more in the Book of Revelation. If you look at the sequence of events that proceed Wormwood, it is obvious that other events will happen first. Notice that the first nine verses happen prior to Wormwood falling from heaven:<\/p>\n

1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel\u2019s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.<\/p>\n

6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.<\/p>\n

7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.<\/p>\n

8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. (Revelation 8:1-9)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It should also be noted that there are MANY EVENTS that also have to take place before the above events as well.<\/p>\n

Continuing in Revelation, John wrote:<\/p>\n

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter. (Revelation 8:10-11)<\/p>\n

Notice that Wormwood does not fall until after the third trumpet associated with the seventh seal of Revelation is blown. Well, this would mean that the fifth and sixth seal would also have already been opened\u2013which are mentioned in Revelation 6:7-17, and the 144,000 numbered as shown in Revelation 7. And I should add that the fifth seal of Revelation cannot possibly be opened for at least 3 1\/2 years from now (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?<\/a>), with almost 4 years the likely minimum.<\/p>\n

But also notice that somehow Wormwood makes water bitter.<\/p>\n

This could be because it is a comet as opposed to an asteroid. Comets tend to come with cyanogen gas–when that mixes with water to form hydrogen cyanide, it has an almond odor and bitter taste.<\/p>\n

However, that does not mean that Wormwood could not be an asteroid. Some asteroids are bound to have substances that would be bitter in water.<\/p>\n

If Wormwood is a type of asteroid, then massive devastation via an asteroid will come to pass. But not this September.<\/p>\n

So, why mention any of this?<\/p>\n

Well, properly understood biblical prophecies are coming to pass. But because of false predictions throughout history, many have grown weary and will likely discount the fulfillment of various prophecies until it is too late.<\/p>\n

Sadly, this will happen to the bulk of true Christians in the end times (for some details, see also The Laodicean Church Era<\/a>).<\/p>\n

By denouncing false and heretical prophetic teachers BEFORE their predictions are shown to be in error, we in the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> continue to establish a reliable track record of proper prophetic interpretation.<\/p>\n
