COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n Pope Benedict XVI made a statement today that I would like to report and comment about. Here is the news item:<\/p>\n Catholics, Lutherans Mark a 10th Anniversary, Look to a 500th<\/strong> The Pope said this today when he greeted representatives of the Lutheran World Federation on the occasion of their official visit to Rome. The delegation was led by the new president of the federation, Reverend Munib Younan.<\/p>\n “With gratitude we can take stock of the many significant fruits produced by these decades of bilateral discussions,” the Holy Father told them.\u00a0 http:\/\/www.zenit.org\/article-31259?l=english<\/p><\/blockquote>\n As far my commentary, notice that Pope Benedict XVI is still speaking with the Lutherans on unity issues.\u00a0 And while Americans may be surprised that the Vatican has been in discussions with specifically the Lutherans for so long, the reality is that in a sense it appears that the Vatican believes that they expect unity with the Lutherans.<\/p>\n Of course, since Martin Luther claimed that the pope was antichrist, one would think that the Lutherans would have no part in such discussions.\u00a0 But, now that politics and the world have changed, apparently they do not find popes so potentially offensive.<\/p>\n I believe that doctrinal compromise will take place, at least by the Lutherans in the future, as I am convinced that the bulk of the European Lutherans will ultimately support a leader from the Vatican.<\/p>\n Furthermore, it appears that other Catholic writings suggest that it is an antipope<\/em> who is involved in the imposition of a changed ecumenical church, hence “Catholic” compromise is expected according to many of the following:<\/p>\n Oba Prophecy<\/em>: It will come when the Church authorities issue directives to support a new cult, when priests are forbidden to celebrate in any other, when the highest positions in the Church are given to perjurers and hypocrites, when only the renegades are admitted to occupy those positions.<\/p>\n Nun Anna-Katarina Emmerick<\/em> (19th century): I saw again a new and odd-looking Church which they were trying to build. There was nothing holy about it…<\/p>\n Yves Dupont<\/em> (writer interpreting A. Emmerick above), They wanted to make a new Church, a Church of human manufacture, but God had other designs…The Holy Father shall have to leave Rome, and he shall die a cruel death. An anti-pope shall be set up in Rome. (Dupont, pp. 115,116)<\/p>\n Jeanne le Royer<\/em> (died 1978): I see that when the Second Coming\u00a0of Christ\u00a0approaches a bad priest will do much harm to the Church. (Culligan, E.
