Pope Francis has been facing aspects of rebellion from the many who consider themselves ‘Conservative Catholics.’<\/p>\n

Cardinal Raymond Burke and Bishop Athanasius Schneider have issued an eight-page declaration<\/a> warning against six \u201cserious theological errors and heresies\u201d they say are contained\u00a0in the\u00a0Amazonian Synod working document<\/a>,\u00a0and calling for prayer and fasting\u00a0to prevent them being approved.<\/div>\n

Cardinal Burke, patron of the Sovereign Order of Malta, and Bishop Schneider, auxiliary of Astana, Kazakhstan, have also published the appeal so Pope Francis may \u201cconfirm his brethren in the faith by an unambiguous rejection of the errors\u201d in the working document.<\/p>\n

They propose that clergy and laity\u00a0\u201cpray daily at least one decade of the Holy Rosary and to fast once a week\u201d for such intentions over a 40 day period, from Sept. 17 to Oct. 26.<\/p>\n

The working document, called an\u00a0instrumentum laboris<\/em>, is meant to guide discussions during the upcoming Oct. 6-27 synod of bishops whose theme is:\u00a0Amazonia, New Paths for the Church and for an Integral Ecology. …<\/em><\/p>\n

The American cardinal and Kazakh bishop write that they believe it is \u201ctheir duty to make the faithful aware\u201d of six \u201cprincipal\u201d errors \u201cbeing spread through the\u00a0instrumentum laboris.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The first they list is \u201cimplicit pantheism\u201d \u2014 the identification of God with the universe and nature where God and the world are one \u2014 which they say is rejected by the Magisterium.<\/p>\n

Secondly, they criticize the notion put forward in the working document that pagan superstitions are \u201csources of Divine Revelation and alternative pathways for salvation.\u201d This implies Amazon tribes have pagan superstitions that are an \u201cexpression of divine Revelation,\u201d deserving of \u201cdialogue and acceptance\u201d by the Church, they argue.<\/p>\n

Citing Church documents, the two prelates state the Magisterium rejects such \u201crelativization\u201d of God\u2019s revelation, and instead \u201caffirms that there is one unique Savior, Jesus Christ, and the Church is His unique Mystical Body and Bride.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thirdly, they cite as erroneous the theory contained in the document that \u201caboriginal people have already received divine revelation, and that the Catholic Church in the Amazon should undergo a \u2018missionary and pastoral conversion.\u2019\u201d The Magisterium rejects such a notion of missionary activity as \u201cmerely intercultural enrichment,\u201d they argue, and that inculturation is primarily about \u201cevangelization\u201d that makes the Church a \u201cmore effective instrument of mission.\u201d 09\/12\/19 http:\/\/www.ncregister.com\/blog\/edward-pentin\/crusade<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pope Francis says he is not afraid of a schism within the Catholic Church, even as he confronts criticism from conservative Catholics about his leadership.<\/p>\n

“I pray that there will not be schisms,” the Pope said Tuesday, “but I am not afraid.”<\/p>\n

The Pope’s remarks came in response to a question from a journalist at a press conference aboard the papal plane. Francis was returning to Rome from Africa, where he spent six days in Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius.<\/p>\n

A schism is a formal break within the church, usually due to disputes over Catholic teaching.<\/p>\n

“There have been many schisms in the Church,” Francis said, referring to the institution’s long history of religious disputes. https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/09\/10\/world\/pope-francis-schism\/index.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Francis basically has ignored protests as he pushes his interfaith and ecumenical agendas. (The idea of a schism will be addressed towards the end of this post.)<\/p>\n
