Within Israel, the Trump plan has been endorsed by the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his chief political rival Benny Gantz (\u2018Trump Unveils Mideast Peace Plan\u2019<\/a>) and some other Israeli politicians (e.g. BIN: \u2018Trump\u2019s Peace Deal is Akin to Decree of King Cyrus Paving Path For Third Temple\u2019 says Israeli Politician<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The deal itself is complicated and looks difficult to implement. Here is the official Vision for Peace Conceptual Map<\/em> that the Trump Administration released related to its plan:<\/p>\n

There are underground tunnels to connect the lands designated for the Palestinians, and many see that as a problem. It also gives the Palestinians the right to have a capital in East Jerusalem. Yet, the Palestinians do not believe that the deal treats them well, and there are specifics in the plan that seem to put them on a type of probation–which they also seemingly do not like.<\/p>\n

At least partially because of the plan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to begin formal annexation of certain lands that the Palestinians want:<\/p>\n

JERUSALEM – Israel has begun to draw up maps of land in the occupied West Bank that will be annexed in accordance with U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday.<\/p>\n

“We are already at the height of the process of mapping the area that, according to the Trump plan, will become part of the\u00a0state of Israel. It won’t take too long,” Netanyahu said at an\u00a0election campaign rally in the Maale Adumim settlement.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu said the area would include all Israeli\u00a0settlements and the Jordan Valley \u2014\u00a0territory that Israel has kept\u00a0under military occupation since its capture in the 1967 Middle\u00a0East war but that\u00a0Palestinians want in a future state.<\/p>\n

“The only map that can be accepted as the map of Palestine\u00a0is the map of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with\u00a0Jerusalem as its capital,” said Nabil Abu Rdainah, spokesman for\u00a0Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.<\/p>\n

Prospects for annexations, which have already been widely\u00a0condemned, are unclear.<\/p>\n

Election in March<\/strong><\/p>\n

Israel will hold a national election on March 2 and\u00a0Netanyahu, who is facing criminal corruption charges, is hoping\u00a0to win a fifth term in office. He presently heads a caretaker\u00a0government, whose legal authority to annex territory is still\u00a0undecided by judicial authorities.<\/p>\n

Settlers make up part of Netanyahu’s right-wing voter base\u00a0and many members of his coalition cabinet view the West Bank as\u00a0the biblical heartland of the Jewish people.<\/p>\n

Most countries consider Israeli settlements on land captured\u00a0in war to be a violation of international law. Trump has changed\u00a0U.S. policy to withdraw such objections.<\/p>\n

Palestinians say the settlements make a future state\u00a0nonviable. Israel cites security needs as well as biblical and\u00a0historical ties to the land on which they are built.<\/p>\n

Two-state plan, with conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trump’s plan envisages a two-state solution with Israel and\u00a0a future Palestinian state living alongside each other, but it\u00a0includes strict conditions that Palestinians reject.<\/p>\n

The blueprint gives Israel much of what it has long sought,\u00a0including U.S. recognition of settlements and Israeli\u00a0sovereignty over the Jordan Valley.<\/p>\n

On January 28, 2020, the Trump Administration revealed its Mideast peace plan, which Donald Trump has referred to as the ‘deal of the century.’ Could it have prophetic ramifications?
