Tomorrow is the United Nations’ World Press Freedom Day:<\/p>\n

3 May acts as a reminder to governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom and is also a day of reflection among media professionals about issues of press freedom and professional ethics. Just as importantly, World Press Freedom Day is a day of support for media which are targets for the restraint, or abolition, of press freedom.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Every year, 3 May is a date which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom, to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession. World Press Freedom Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 following a Recommendation adopted at the twenty-sixth session of UNESCO’s General Conference<\/a> in 1991. This in turn was a response to a call by African journalists who in 1991 produced the landmark Windhoek Declaration (link is external)<\/span><\/span><\/a> on media pluralism and independence. https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/commemorations\/worldpressfreedomday<\/a><\/p>\n

At the core of UNESCO’s mandate is freedom of the press and freedom of expression. UNESCO believes that these freedoms allow for mutual understanding to build a sustainable peace.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But, despite having this for decades, press freedom is deteriorating.<\/p>\n

Governments are pressuring ‘social media’ companies like Twitter, Google, and Facebook to reduce that freedom. Video platforms like YouTube and Vimeo have also done so.<\/p>\n

EU condemns attacks on press freedom during COVID-19 crisis<\/h2>\n

The European Union on Saturday criticized restrictions on the media put in place by some countries during the coronavirus crisis. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also stepped in to defend independent journalism a day ahead of World Press Freedom Day on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“It is very likely that the COVID-19 pandemic is being used to limit freedom of the press in several countries,” the EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell said in a statement on behalf of the 27 member states.<\/p>\n

“Journalists must be able to work without censorship,” he added. …<\/p>\n

Rights group Reporters Without Borders also warned that many journalists around the world may be facing censorship or limited freedoms as the outbreak leads to restrictions on public life.<\/p>\n

The warning\u00a0comes a day after China jailed a journalist<\/a> for ‘attacking and vilifying the communist party.’ …<\/p>\n

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, along with his counterparts in the UK, France and the Netherlands, released a statement on Saturday stressing the importance of journalistic independence in the coronavirus crisis. …<\/p>\n

This year’s World Press Freedom Day, with the motto “Journalism without fear or favor,\u201d is based around the importance of an independent press to a functioning democracy.<\/p>\n

The World Health Organization has repeatedly warned of an “infodemic” of the spread of false information online relating to coronavirus. https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/eu-condemns-attacks-on-press-freedom-during-covid-19-crisis\/a-53311679<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

On that last point, it should be noted that the World Health Organization said, for a long time, that COVID-19 was not a pandemic, that masks wear not necessary, and that governments should not over-react. Now, it takes the opposite view and is opposed to those who hold its earlier views.<\/p>\n

Places like YouTube have turned to censorship to block items that would seem to be of at least journalistic interest if they do not tow the line on the limits of information it wants people to have.<\/p>\n

Now, let’s see something YouTube sent out to video producers in 2020:<\/p>\n

Now the above is a general email from YouTube to all its content creators, as opposed to a specific warning that we published something it is complaining about. However as I reported this past January, the reality is that this was another dangerous step from YouTube.<\/p>\n

I also posted:<\/p>\n

YouTube is NOT interested in \u201cmore inclusive content\u201d in the biblical sense. They want content that they agree with\u2013even when it goes against scripture.<\/p>\n

YouTube is saying what they are doing is making an improvement, while they really are embarking on more censorship.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

YouTube to Ban Content That Contradicts WHO on COVID-19, Despite the UN Agency\u2019s Catastrophic Track Record of Misinformation<\/h2>\n

Soon, YouTubers will be silenced if they don\u2019t agree with the United Nations on public health. As The Verdict<\/a> reports:<\/p>\n

YouTube will ban any content containing medical advice that contradicts World Health Organisation (WHO) coronavirus recommendations, according to CEO Susan Wojcicki.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Wojcicki announced the policy on CNN on Sunday. WHO is an agency of the UN, charged with overseeing global public health. …<\/p>\n

The World Health Organization is far from infallible. Its handling of information throughout the coronavirus emergency has been a long string of failures. As policy analyst Ross Marchand has recounted here on FEE<\/a> last week, WHO failed to raise the alarm as the coronavirus rapidly spread through China during the crucial early period of the global crisis in January of this year. Then, as Marchand wrote:<\/p>\n

The global bureaucracy uncritically reported<\/a> that Chinese authorities had seen “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus\u201d on January 14, just one day after acknowledging<\/a> the first case outside of China (in Thailand). WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised<\/a> Chinese President Xi Jinping for his \u201cpolitical commitment\u201d and \u201cpolitical leadership\u201d despite these repeated, reprehensible attempts to keep the world in the dark about the coronavirus.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

President Donald Trump recently announced that the US would cease its funding<\/a> of WHO over its many coronavirus-related failures.<\/p>\n

And it is not just American conservatives who have been critical. As FEE\u2019s Jon Miltimore<\/a> wrote a month ago:<\/p>\n

Our World in Data<\/a>, an online publication based at the University of Oxford, announced <\/a>on Tuesday that it had stopped relying on World Health Organization (WHO) data for its models, citing errors and other factors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This raises an interesting question: would YouTube censor Oxford if it posted a video on the coronavirus issue with recommendations based on data that contradicts WHO\u2019s?<\/p>\n

As Miltimore wrote, \u201cRecent reports suggest US intelligence agencies relied heavily<\/a> on WHO in its national assessment of the COVID-19 threat.\u201d https:\/\/fee.org\/articles\/youtube-to-ban-content-that-contradicts-who-on-covid-19-despite-the-un-agency-s-catastrophic-track-record-of-misinformation\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A few days ago, YouTube pulled a video discussion between two microbiologists when they reported their observations of errors and miscounting associated with COVID-19:<\/p>\n

YouTube has been removing videos of a press briefing in which two doctors criticize the sweeping \u201cshelter-at-home\u201d edicts that governments have imposed throughout the world in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. One of the videos had over 5 million views before it was taken down.<\/p>\n

The original videos were posted by an ABC news affiliate in Bakersfield, California. When the affiliate reached out<\/a> to YouTube about the removal, a company spokesperson issued a statement that offered the following justification:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe quickly remove flagged content that violate [sic] our Community Guidelines, including content that explicitly disputes the efficacy of local health authority recommended guidance on social distancing that may lead others to act against that guidance. (…) From the very beginning of the pandemic, we\u2019ve had clear policies against COVID-19 misinformation and are committed to continue providing timely and helpful information at this critical time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The claims of the physicians (Dr. Daniel W. Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi, owners of Accelerated Urgent Care in Bakersfield) have been the subject of furious debate. …<\/p>\n

Whatever the veracity of the doctors\u2019 claims, YouTube\u2019s censorship of unorthodox ideas in the name of protecting the public from misinformation is misguided and counter-productive. Sheltering the public from ideas, even bad ones, only makes society more susceptible to dangerous error. https:\/\/fee.org\/articles\/youtube-s-censorship-of-dissenting-doctors-will-backfire\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Internet censorship was number 3 in the 20 Prophetic Items to Watch in 2020<\/a>. The recent announcement from YouTube, sadly, is part of doing that.<\/p>\n

The mainstream media, internet firms, and various governmental organizations seem to act like they are George Orwells’ “Ministry of Truth.”<\/p>\n

As far as George Orwell’s dystopian New World Order goes, we made a short video a while back:<\/p>\n

Orwell\u2019s 1984 by 2024?<\/a> In 1949, the late George Orwell wrote a disturbing book about a totalitarian government called \u201cnineteen-eighty four.\u201d Despite laws that are supposed to protect freedom of speech and religion, we are seeing governments taking steps consistent with those that George Orwell warned against. We are also seeing this in the media, academia, and in private companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter. With the advent of technology, totalitarianism beyond what Orwell wrote is possible. Does the Bible teach the coming a totalitarian state similar to George Orwell\u2019s? What about the Antichrist and 666? Will things get worse? What is the solution? Was freedom of the press and its demise prophesied?<\/p>\n

The old Worldwide Church of God (WCG) correctly pointed out that it was:<\/p>\n

In this day, God has made the MASS media available to accomplish His work. But reaching a mass audience with the good news of God\u2019s soon-coming Government requires the freedom to PUBLISH. Notice Mark 13:10: \u201cAnd the gospel must first be published among all nations.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Further, God lays a special duty on his messenger and Church to publicly disseminate certain warnings to certain nations. Ezekiel 33:1-7 describes God\u2019s charge upon the watchman. When the watchman sees \u201cthe sword\u201d come upon the land \u2014 a prophetic symbol of military devastation \u2014 he must \u201cblow the trumpet\u201d or God will hold him personally responsible.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This duty requires that a message warning about some very unpleasant events be published as far and as wide as possible to the latter-day descendants of ancient nations. …<\/p>\n

And yet while the Bible places a duty on God\u2019s servants, it also warns that this world \u2014 even now and in the future \u2014 will not always allow the freedom to publish.<\/p>\n

In the past a government\u2019s excuse for persecution was that God\u2019s message IS TOO DISTURBING to be allowed to circulate freely. …<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For the future, the Bible prophecy reveals that the time will come when most of this world\u2019s nations will be led by Satan to abolish freedom of the press \u2014 and all related freedoms. Why? To prevent any publishing of God\u2019s message from reaching any substantial number of people!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

`Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: and they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it\u201d (Amos 8:11-12).(Calkins J. So, the WCG predicted a time of censorship.<\/p>\n

As far as loss of freedom to spread the truth goes, notice these prophetic scriptures:<\/p>\n

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.<\/p>\n

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)<\/p>\n

11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
\n“That I will send a famine on the land,
\nNot a famine of bread,
\nNor a thirst for water,
\nBut of hearing the words of the Lord.
\n12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
\nAnd from north to east;
\nThey shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
\nBut shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A totalitarian system will be put in place. The mainstream media and internet companies are making it easier for this to occur.<\/p>\n

Amos told of a time that will come when the word of God will not be found. I do not believe that this means that there will be no more Bibles–but that those wanting to better understand it will have trouble finding explanations. That is part of why we in the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> are preparing for the ‘short work’ (Romans 9:28) and the coming ‘famine of the word<\/a>.’<\/p>\n

Consider, however, that Jesus<\/a> said:<\/p>\n

4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. (John 9:4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Philadelphian Christians <\/a>want to respond to the doors that Christ opens to proclaim the gospel (2 Corinthians 2:12; 1 Corinthians 16:8-9; Colossians 4:2-4) and do the work. We will stand up for the truth, despite realizing that the ‘famine of the word’ that the prophet Amos referred to is coming. We must do the work and persevere to the end–despite totalitarian and Orwellian calls by various ones.<\/p>\n

Despite being “politically incorrect,” we in the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> have published articles and produced videos denouncing sins many in society do not wish to be discussed.<\/p>\n

But more restrictions are coming. Press freedom will be gone in the future!<\/p>\n

Until then, we need to do the work when we can:<\/p>\n

1 “Cry aloud, spare not;
\nLift up your voice like a trumpet;
\nTell My people their transgression,
\nAnd the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)<\/p>\n

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. (Matthew 10:16-17)<\/p>\n

4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. (John 9:4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That is what we in CCOG are striving to do.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, we also proclaim the good news that the Kingdom of God<\/a> will come and replace the Babylonian (Revelation 13:16-18) system that we see being put together today.<\/p>\n

Yet, have no doubts, we are facing restrictions now and the type of totalitarian Beast<\/a> society that the Bible warned about for the end times is truly taking shape in many parts of the world.<\/p>\n
