The New Yorker<\/em> reported the following:<\/p>\n

In January, a Swedish entrepreneur named Joakim Hultin co-founded Sidehide, a new digital app intended to streamline hotel reservations. … In June, Sidehide will launch again, in a few Miami hotels, having added what is being called an \u201cimmunity passport.\u201d Patrons who have been tested for COVID<\/em>-19 antibodies and are shown to have them will have that information embedded in a QR code, to be scanned by hotel staff upon arrival. The Miami launch is a test, a proof of concept, and, if it works, Hultin is hopeful that it will help revive the travel industry. (Officials from Delta Air Lines and Heathrow Airport have expressed interest in immunity passports.) The idea, Hultin said, is to let the hotel staff know \u201cthe guest is safe.\u201d …<\/p>\n

Other companies are pitching similar products. COVI<\/em>-Pass is an immunity passport that uses VCode\u2014a proprietary cryptographic image, similar to a QR code\u2014that can be scanned at a distance of a hundred metres. It will reveal if a person has tested positive for antibodies, flash green if a person has tested negative for the virus, and red if tests show that they have the virus or don\u2019t have antibodies, or if their test result has expired. (A yellow light shows when it\u2019s time to be retested.) The app can \u201cgeo-fence\u201d a point of entry, prohibiting visitors with a red light from entering a building or stadium or school. \u201cI believe that all governments will move toward a global health passport, which will be as common as carrying a driver\u2019s license or a passport, because this is not going to be the last pandemic we have,\u201d Adam Palmer, the C.O.O. of COVI<\/em>-Pass, said. A recent press release from the company, which is also based in the U.K., states that the passes were in the process of being shipped \u201cto both the private sector and governments in over fifteen countries,\u201d including Italy, France, India, and the United States. COVI<\/em>-Pass would not say, specifically, which companies and governments in these countries had purchased the product. But Louis-James Davis, the C.E.O. of VST Enterprises and the creator of VCode, did mention that the company\u2019s V-Health Passport, which also documents users\u2019 COVID<\/em>-19 status, would be rolled out at sports venues in the U.K. this summer. The passport will have to be scanned in order to buy a ticket online, and then again at the stadium, before approaching the gate.<\/p>\n

Skipping the debate about vaccine effectiveness and dangers, notice two concerns about electronic immunity passports:<\/p>\n

Monitoring erodes privacy.<\/b> The whole point of immunity passports is to control movement. Thus, any strategy for immunity certification must include a system for identification and monitoring. Paper documentation could be vulnerable to forgery. Electronic documentation integrated into a smartphone app would be more resistant to fraud and more effective for contact tracing, retesting and updates of immune status.<\/p>\n

Marginalized groups will face more scrutiny.<\/b> With increased monitoring comes increased policing, and with it higher risks of profiling and potential harms to racial, sexual, religious or other minority groups. 05\/21\/20 https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-020-01451-0<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As a leader of a religious minority group, I can see many problems with such items.<\/p>\n

Yet, certain Europeans and others seem fine with the idea as Off Guardian <\/em>reported the following:

A report published by the European Commission in late 2019 reveals that the EU has been looking to increase the scope and power of vaccination programmes since well before the current \u201cpandemic\u201d.<\/p>\n

The endpoint of the Roadmap is, among many other things, to introduce a \u201ccommon vaccination card\/passport\u201d for all EU citizens.<\/p>\n

This proposal will be appearing before the commission in 2022, with a \u201cfeasibility study\u201d set to run from 2019 through 2021 (meaning, as of now, it\u2019s about halfway through).<\/p>\n

To underline the point: The \u201cvaccination roadmap\u201d is not<\/em> an improvised response to the Covid19 pandemic, but rather an ongoing plan with roots going back to 2018, when the EU released a survey of the public\u2019s attitude toward vaccines titled \u201c2018 State of Vaccine Confidence\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

On the back of this research, the EU then commissioned a technical report titled \u201cDesigning and implementing an immunisation information system\u201d<\/a>, on \u2013 among other things \u2013 the plausibility of an EU-wide vaccination monitoring system.<\/p>\n

In the 3rd quarter of 2019<\/strong> these reports were all combined into the latest version of the the \u201cVaccination Roadmap\u201d, a long-term policy plan to spread vaccine \u201cawareness and understanding\u201d whilst counteracting \u201cvaccine myths\u201d and combatting \u201cvaccine hesitancy\u201d.<\/p>\n
