BERLIN \u2014 Europe\u2019s economic powerhouses have joined forces to take on tech giants in the ultra-competitive field of cloud computing. …<\/p>\n

The idea behind the project, named \u201cGaia-X\u201d after an ancient goddess, is to convince firms to store their data with home-grown alternatives to U.S. and Chinese tech giants like Amazon Web Services and Alibaba \u2014 known in the industry as “hyperscalers.”<\/p>\n

But Gaia-X will not be a cloud service in itself. Set up as a nonprofit based in Belgium, it’s conceived as a platform joining up cloud-hosting services from dozens of companies, allowing business to move their data freely with all information protected under Europe’s tough data processing rules, France and Germany announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

“If we want to have any chance to assert ourselves in the world as Europe, we need to join existing forces,\u201d German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier told POLITICO on Thursday, ahead of a joint web conference with his French counterpart Bruno Le Maire. …<\/p>\n

The initiative is part of\u00a0a wider push by European policymakers<\/a> to boost Europe\u2019s \u201cdigital sovereignty\u201d \u2014 or make EU countries less dependent on digital infrastructure provided by foreign corporations.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

“We are not China, we are not the United States \u2014 we are European countries with our own values and our own European interests that we want to defend,\u201d France’s Le Maire told reporters on Thursday. \u201cThe COVID crisis has shown that giant tech companies are winners of the crisis.”<\/p>\n

The first steps to the creation of the European cloud computing platform Gaia-X have been taken, with the creation of a legal entity in Belgium.<\/p>\n

Set up to address Europe\u2019s dependence on American or Chinese cloud providers, 22 French and German companies, with the backing of several countries, have agreed to launch the joint venture.<\/p>\n

DCD <\/i>understands Gaia-X will function as a non-profit and involve companies such as Dassault Systemes, Orange, Siemens, SAP, Robert Bosch, Atos, Scaleway, and Deutsche Telekom.<\/p>\n

Gaia-X will be launched next year.<\/p>\n

European data = European rules …<\/h2>\n

German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier announced the birth of Gaia-X back in October (before falling off of the stage<\/a>), saying: \u201cGermany and Europe need a data infrastructure that ensures data sovereignty and enables the sharing of data on a broader and secure basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cGermany has a claim to digital sovereignty. That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to us that cloud solutions are not just created in the US.\u201d …<\/p>\n

Yann Lechelle, Scaleway\u2019s CEO, added: “We are very proud to provide our infrastructure and digital capacity to the Gaia-X project.<\/p>\n

“We need to establish a balance on the supply side and move away from oligopoly so that we can collectively have a voice in building the IT infrastructure of tomorrow – in Europe and the world. Europe wants to set standards for the world. It does not wish to have to rely on the USA or China for data matters. Gaia-X is another step in that direction.<\/p>\n

In his book 1984<\/em>, George Orwell warned about a totalitarian society that had surveillance cameras all over and they recognized individual people. German conservatives slam reported US troop withdrawal<\/h2>\n

Washington’s alleged plan\u00a0to transfer about 9,500 troops out of its German bases is a symbolic gesture that is likely to weaken US military operations and “further deteriorate” trans-Atlantic ties, conservative lawmaker Andreas Nick told DW on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The comments come after the Wall Street Journal<\/em>, Der Spiegel <\/em>magazine, and the Reuters news agency all reported that the US is preparing to cut down its German contingent. Some 34,500 US troops are currently stationed in Germany. The transfer is reportedly due to Germany not investing enough money into its defense. …<\/p>\n

Wake up call for Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n

Germany serves as a major hub for the US military and NATO in Europe and the wider region, with the US maintaining key facilities such as the Ramstein Air Base in southwestern Germany. However, the ties between Berlin and Washington have been deteriorating steadily over geopolitical, financial, and environmental issues since Donald Trump took office in January 2017.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, senior German conservative Johann Wadephul said the withdrawal of troops would be yet another wake up call for Europeans to take their fate in their own hands.<\/p>\n

“The plans show once again that the Trump administration is disregarding an elementary task of leadership: the involvement of allies in the decision-making process,” said Wadephul,\u00a0 who serves as the deputy head of the parliamentary group for Angela Merkel’s\u00a0 CDU party. https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/german-conservatives-slam-reported-us-troop-withdrawal\/a-53705522<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Europe has started to put its own military together with an organization called PESCO. Here is some more information about it:<\/p>\n

PESCO and the Long Road to European Strategic Autonomy<\/h2>\n

Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO<\/a>) initiative …<\/p>\n

PESCO is an attempt within the EU to develop means for standardization of training, development, and information flows that will allow European forces to cooperate and execute smoothly in operational settings. All of this is to be done through synchronization of capabilities requirements and goals and harmonization of investment in research and technology and procurement. The ideal result is greater Europeanization of capabilities and supply chain cultivation \u2013 and thus greater European strategic autonomy.<\/p>\n

Following a series of events starting in 2014, this ambition grew in focus. These events included Russia\u2019s destabilizing behavior along Europe\u2019s eastern frontier and utilization of hybrid warfare tactics in Ukraine, the Brexit referendum in the U.K., and concern over U.S. strategic reorientation towards the Pacific Rim and deteriorating relations under President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

In November 2018, French President Macron called for a \u201ctrue European army\u201d because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted \u201ca very strong Europe.\u201d Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as \u201cmy friend\u201d and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe\u2019s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with \u201ca great army\u201d? Has Donald Trump\u2019s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States of Europe and a European army a \u201cparanoid fantasy\u201d or a biblical reality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? Will the USA be betrayed by \u201cfriends\u201d such as its continental European allies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? \nHe shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.<\/p>\n

25 “Through his cunning

He will eliminate the USA and its British-descended allies. But he will also want to control all that he can.<\/p>\n

And what about data?<\/p>\n

The world in general, and Europe in particular is moving more and more towards becoming a totalitarian state.<\/p>\n

When will this fully be in place?<\/p>\n

After the Gospel of the Kingdom of God<\/a> has sufficiently reached the world the end comes and the Beast will rise up (Matthew 24:14-22, Revelation 13).<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, this is something barely noticed by the media in the USA. Hence relatively few in the USA have an real idea where this will lead.<\/p>\n

It will lead to the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21-22), the destruction of the USA, disasters around the world, but ultimately the return of Jesus and the establishment on the millennial Kingdom of God<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a>, \u201cWe have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:\u201d (2 Peter 1:19, KJV). We are not afraid are not afraid to “Cry aloud” (Isaiah 58:1) as a “voice of one crying in the wilderness” (Isaiah 40:3b) telling people to “Prepare the way of the Lord” (Isaiah 40:3b).<\/p>\n

Jesus warned many would be distracted in the end times (cf. Matthew 24:36-44). Jesus also warned:<\/p>\n
