Sally Brings 100-mph Winds As it Rumbles into US Gulf Coast<\/h2>\n

September 15, 2020<\/p>\n

HOUSTON – Hurricane Sally drew closer to the U.S. Gulf Coast on Tuesday morning, bringing heavy rains and surging water ahead of its expected landfall as a Category 2 hurricane, with the chance of further strengthening possible.<\/p>\n

The second strong storm in less than a month to threaten the region, Sally’s winds increased to 100 miles per hour (155 kph), and late Monday was 90 miles (145 km) east of the mouth of the Mississippi River, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.<\/p>\n

It could wallop the Mississippi and Alabama coasts on Tuesday with devastating winds of up to 110 mph, on the cusp of becoming a Category 3 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale of intensity, the NHC said.<\/p>\n

Hurricanes are considered to have the potential for devastating damage when they have sustained winds past 111 mph (179 kph).<\/p>\n

Mississippi and Louisiana called for evacuations of low-lying areas and President Donald Trump issued an emergency disaster declaration for both states. Alabama closed the state’s beaches and recommended evacuations of residents in low-lying areas.<\/p>\n

Mobile, Alabama Mayor Sandy Stimpson warned residents he expected a “tremendous amount of flooding” and said the city was barricading intersections likely to see high water.<\/p>\n

Ports, schools and businesses closed along the coast. The U.S. Coast Guard restricted travel on the lower Mississippi River in New Orleans to the Gulf, and closed the ports of Pascagoula and Gulfport, Mississippi, and Mobile, Alabama.<\/p>\n

Energy companies buttoned up or halted oil refineries and pulled workers from offshore oil and gas production platforms.<\/p>\n

The hurricane is expected to dump between 8 and 16 inches (20 to 40 cm) of rain on the coast, with isolated 24-inch downpours, and cause widespread river flooding.<\/p>\n

Mississippi appears more likely for landfall, but Sally’s biggest threat is that it will be a “rainmaker” across a wide swath of the Gulf Coast, with 3 to 4 inches (7.62 to 10.2 cm) in areas as far inland as Atlanta, said Jim Foerster, chief meteorologist at DTN, an energy, agriculture and weather data provider.<\/p>\n

Sally is the 18th named storm in the Atlantic this year and will be the eighth of tropical storm or hurricane strength to hit the United States \u2014 something “very rare if not a record” said Dan Kottlowski, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, noting that accurate data on historic tropical storms can be elusive. https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/usa\/sally-brings-100-mph-winds-it-rumbles-us-gulf-coast<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

People in Oregon, Washington and parts of California were struggling under acrid yellowish-green smog \u2014 the worst, most unhealthy air on the planet according to some measurements. …<\/p>\n

Some areas of central California blanketed by smoke are not likely to see relief until October, said Dan Borsum, the incident meteorologist for a fire in Northern California. …<\/p>\n

In Oregon, places like the Oregon Convention Center in downtown Portland are being used as a smoke advisory shelter where people in need of healthy air quality can go. https:\/\/apnews.com\/41d19571e31aa18ba762c4e5b0282e8f<\/a><\/p>\n

The mammoth wildfires torching much of three states have already claimed 36 lives. … up and down the West Coast, more lives and homes are being destroyed as 87 wildfires burn, according to the National Interagency Fire Center<\/a>. At least 25 of the wildfires are in California,<\/a> …<\/p>\n

Nearly 1 million acres have burned in Oregon, according to the state’s fire dashboard<\/a> …<\/p>\n

In Washington state, “virtually the entire state is covered by a cloud of smoke that’s unbelievably irritating, downright unhealthy and dangerous,” Gov. Jay Inslee said. …<\/p>\n

Of the nine major wildfires burning in Washington state, the two largest — the Pearl Hill and Cold Springs fires — have collectively scorched more than 412,500 acres, according to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.<\/a><\/p>\n

“This is such a disaster in any dimension, but a particular disaster because we had our state turned into a tinder box by climate change,” Inslee said. …<\/p>\n

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Washington’s Inslee have all reiterated that the fires in their states are the result of the climate crisis<\/a>, disputing President Donald Trump’s claim that they’re the result of poor land management.<\/p>\n

Newsom said that record-breaking temperatures and drought conditions, which have fueled the recent fires, have been going on for years because of climate change. https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/09\/15\/us\/west-coast-wildfires-tuesday\/index.html<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blaming ‘climate change’ does not solve the situations.<\/p>\n

The rains and hurricanes on the Gulf coast and dryness and fires on the West coast, brought the following scriptures to mind:<\/p>\n

\nSays the Lord.<\/p>\n

9 \u201cI blasted you with blight and mildew.
\nWhen your gardens increased,
\nYour vineyards,
\nYour fig trees,
\nAnd your olive trees,
\nThe locust devoured them;
\nYet you have not returned to Me,\u201d

Despite dryness and rain, we have not seen the USA turn to God.<\/p>\n

Fires should get people to consider. But will people in the USA heed?<\/p>\n

As regular readers of this page are aware, I have repeatedly warned of weather problems coming. Back in 2009, in my book, 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect<\/em>, I wrote that the following was about to happen:<\/p>\n

Odd weather patterns result in food shortages and natural disasters.<\/td>\nMatthew 24:7<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\n\n\n
The world is actually in a berserk transition, as the real age of peace is not yet here. It may be a period of chaos. It is the beginning of sorrows.<\/td>\nMatthew 24:8<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Since that was published, we have had record smashing heat and odd weather problems. These weather issues should serve as a wake-up call.<\/p>\n

The Bible is clear that God controls the weather and various calamities, but wants people to heed His prophets:<\/p>\n

6\u2026 If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?<\/p>\n

7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. (Amos 3:6-7)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Bible tells of weather-related blessings for obedience and weather-related curses for disobedience. Weather is not as random as many people seem to want to believe.<\/p>\n

The Bible shows:<\/p>\n

30 God \u2026 commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And weather-problems are one tool that God uses to urge people to repent (cf. Haggai 2:17; Amos 4:7-12). But most will not. Nor will most Christians as they should (cf. Revelation 3:14-18; see also The Laodicean Church Era<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Most will ignore weather changes and simply believe that weather changes all the time and the changes do not have to do with God or disobeying His laws.<\/p>\n

Yet, the Bible shows that weird, severe, and odd weather patterns are part of the warning messages that God gives.<\/p>\n

Are you paying attention to those messages?<\/p>\n

Jesus taught:<\/p>\n

7 … And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8).<\/p>\n

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles<\/strong>. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The sorrows and troubles are just beginning and will get much worse.<\/p>\n

Do not be asleep or lukewarm.<\/p>\n
