Many secular government leaders have taken strong actions (and in the USA constitutionally-prohibited) against churches and church\/synagogue services in 2020 they claimed were needed because of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

A Gallup survey supports the view that such officials should have given more deference to the practice of religion:<\/p>\n

New Mental Health Survey Shows Conservatives Were Right: Church Is Essential<\/h2>\n

People of faith have been demanding religious freedom since lockdowns began in March. In the pages of the press, in the courts, and in the streets, churches have declared that opening their doors is \u201cessential\u201d<\/a> \u2014 and they were right. According to a new poll, mental health has tanked across the board during this year of mayhem, except for one group: those who regularly attend church.<\/p>\n

According to the results of a new Gallup self-assessment survey<\/a>, Americans\u2019 mental health is at its lowest point<\/a> in two decades, with the number of those who reported positive emotional or mental well-being down a whole 9 percentage points from just last year. While the degree of changes in mental health varied among different groups, quality declined among every demographic \u2014 men, women, Democrats, Republicans, whites, non-whites, rich, poor, married, and unmarried \u2014 except for devout religious people.<\/p>\n

Remarkably, faithful churchgoers were the only people who reported improvements\u00a0<\/em>in mental health since last year. For those who reported weekly attendance at religious services, 46 percent reported their mental health as \u201cexcellent,\u201d up four points from 42 percent in 2019. https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/12\/10\/new-mental-health-survey-shows-conservatives-were-right-church-is-essential\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is no surprise.<\/p>\n

The secularists\/agnostics\/atheists who put their faith in the media, vaccines, fear tactics, and hiding already live as if they have no hope. Notice also the following related to the survey:<\/p>\n

The\u00a0pandemic and economic fallout<\/a>\u00a0have had enormous impacts on the health of people across the globe<\/strong>. Losing a loved one, unemployment and general isolation have all negatively affected peoples\u2019 mental health in ways we are just now starting to comprehend.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0new update of a yearly Gallup survey on mental health in U.S.<\/a>, just 34 percent of U.S. adults said they felt their mental health was in excellent condition when asked in November. Those who believe the Bible are not to think like the secularists. Christians are not to “sorrow as others who have no hope” ( Thessalonians 4:13).<\/p>\n

Because of fear of spreading COVID-19, the Five Cities school district cancelled all classes effective this past Monday. There are school closures throughout the USA, Africa (including Kenya), and Europe (including Serbia). Many countries have also declared a \u2018state of emergency.\u2019<\/p>\n

Yesterday, officials declared a shelter-in-place requirement for San Luis Obispo County (where I am writing this from) and stated that \u2018non-essential\u2019 businesses are to be shut down today. This was also done in many other counties in California a few days ago. The economic, including debt, ramifications of these moves and other actions related to COVID-19 may be staggering.<\/p>\n

In our area as well as other parts of California and the USA, shelves in some grocery stores have been pretty bare as my wife and I found out when we tried (and failed because there was none) to buy bread on Sunday:<\/p>\n

Anyway, since we could not buy bread, Joyce made some as we had flour at our house.<\/p>\n

Real and imagined fears related to COVID-19 are damaging the world economy, and in the case of the USA and Europe, at least, increasing government debt. Increased USA debt will be a factor in its destruction per Habakkuk 2:6-8. COVID-19 may well be a factor that will help lead to the ultimate reorganizing of Europe and the rise of the Beast as foretold in Revelation 17:12-13.<\/p>\n

Several counties in California have essentially put people on quarantine, and now everyone in France is supposed to do some type of filled out form in order to travel outside of their homes (see AP: Government issues historic restrictions amid virus outbreak; Form now needed to leave your house in France<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The restrictions on movement and the discouragement of physical cash because of COVID-19 are paving the way for the acceptance of the 666 Beast and total government financial control. Now, however, as Jesus said, \u201cdo not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet\u201d (Mark 13:7). Jesus also said:<\/p>\n

33 \u2026 In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33b)<\/p>\n

32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father\u2019s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While you should take reasonable precautions, you do not need to fear.<\/p>\n

Perhaps I should mention that our elder in Serbia, Aleksandar \u2018Sasha\u2019 Veljic told me that a bank basically told him that because of COVID-19 he should use digital forms of payment instead of cash. He related that to the warnings we gave in our video COVID-19 Leading to 666?<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, with all the quarantines and travel restrictions being imposed, what about attendance at weekly Sabbath services?<\/p>\n

Our policy has always been, and still remains, if you have a contagious disease, you should not attend church services.<\/p>\n

In this time of COVID-19, if you think you may have a fever, you should not attend services. If you are not feeling well, please stay home.<\/p>\n

As far as \u2018social distancing\u2019 goes, church leaders in their respective countries and local groups need to decide the relative safety of holding Sabbath services (though in some places landlords and\/or government officials may be placing their own limits–the early Christian church met in houses and that is one thing that can be done when meeting halls are not around and\/or there are governmental restrictions) as not only are they closer to their situation, they can react to local conditions in a timely way.<\/p>\n

If any person is not comfortable being in a group at this time, they may wish to stay home. And, of course, we do have services available online which is what most native English speakers we have are doing already.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, the BBC<\/em> reported that German, \u201cChancellor Angela Merkel has banned religious services and told people to cancel any domestic or foreign holiday travel\u201d (https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-51918596 03\/17\/20).<\/p>\n

While we cooperate with government authorities when we can, we do not believe that government authorities should interfere with the ability to hold holy convocations or other biblical observances.<\/p>\n

As the Apostles said, \u201cWe must obey God rather than men\u201d (Acts 5:29).<\/p>\n

Hence, yes, we believe that true Christians should, for example, keep Passover next month. Though in some areas, it may be wise to have only very small groups meeting together. …<\/p>\n

Concluding Comments<\/strong><\/p>\n

With all the reality and hype about COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus) going around, the following came to mind:<\/p>\n

1 The Lord is my shepherd;
\nI shall not want.
\n2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
\nHe leads me beside the still waters.
\n3 He restores my soul;
\nHe leads me in the paths of righteousness
\nFor His name\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
\nI will fear no evil;
\nFor You are with me;
\nYour rod and Your staff, they comfort me.<\/p>\n

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
\nYou anoint my head with oil;
\nMy cup runs over.
\n6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
\nAll the days of my life;
\nAnd I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brethren, trust God, for we are destined to \u201cdwell in the house of the Lord forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

At risk of repeat, remember that Jesus said \u201cDo not fear, little flock, for it is your Father\u2019s good pleasure to give you the kingdom\u201d (Luke 12:32).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although one or two of the larger COGs suspended all church services for a time, we in the CCOG did not.<\/p>\n

For not doing so, one of the anti-COG webmasters severely criticized me.<\/p>\n

Yet, the New Testament teaches:<\/p>\n

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:23-25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We are getting closer to the Day that Jesus will return. This is NOT the time to stop church services.<\/p>\n

In March to present, I did not allow church services and take steps to insure people around the world could keep the biblical Passover because of “mental health” per se<\/em>, but because, \u201cWe must obey God rather than men\u201d (Acts 5:29).<\/p>\n

The fact that this was also beneficial for mental health further shows the wisdom of the God of the Bible and His instructions for humans.<\/p>\n
