In its <\/em>latest weekly update,<\/em><\/a> LCG reported:<\/em><\/p>\n

And now, \u201cEurope Empire\u201d: The President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, recently made a profound and prophetic announcement: \u201cWe are not the United States of Europe\u2014we are unique in the history of mankind!… Now what we have is the first non-imperial empire<\/strong><\/em>\u2026 I believe it is a great construction and we should be proud of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The British Shadow Europe Minister said, \u201cThe British public will be surprised to hear that we are now part of an EU empire. For the President of the Commission to say this is quite startling and anyone who thinks we have been exaggerating in calling for a referendum\u2026 only has to look at what Mr. Barroso has said to realize the scale of what is now being contemplated<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an emotional reaction to Mr. Barroso\u2019s comments, the UK Independence Party leader observed, \u201cI would like Mr. Barroso to come to Britain and repeat those quotes and see what the reaction would be. Or maybe he would prefer to visit the Brussels colony of Britain?\u201d (The Times, July 11, 2007).\u00a0<\/p>\n

For decades, the Church of God, using the Bible as a guide (Daniel 2:41-45; Revelation 17:7-18), has been predicting the final revival of the Holy Roman Empire in Europe. Recent rhetoric, along with actions in Brussels and across Europe, indicates that these ancient prophecies are coming to pass right before our eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Europe gets its name from the story of Zeus and Europa.\u00a0 Zeus, the leader of the Greek gods, is pictured as a beast in that story and persuades Europa (who he later compromises) to come with him.\u00a0 Zeus was also called Jupiter and as such the leader of the Roman gods.<\/em><\/p>\n

That story is even pictured on 2 Euro coins in Greece.\u00a0 Here are two I got in Greece in June 2007:<\/em><\/p>\n
