Protesters rallying against Cuba\u2019s government on Sunday expressed a number of grievances, including the state of the country\u2019s economy and the response to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we want is change,\u201d Yamila Monte, a Cuban domestic worker told AFP. \u201cI have had enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

The protests were the largest against the government in decades and took place in the capital, Havana, as well as multiple areas across the country.<\/p>\n

People \u201care angry because there is no food, because there are problems,\u201d Yudeiky Valverde, a 39-year-old primary school employee told AFP. …<\/p>\n

Cuba\u2019s President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel blamed the U.S. policies for the unrest, an accusation denied by U.S. officials. U.S. President Joe Biden said the protesters \u201care demanding their freedom from an authoritarian regime.\u201d<\/p>\n

A protester who spoke to the Associated Press but declined to identify himself out of fear of possible arrest said: \u201cWe are fed up with the queues, the shortages. That\u2019s why I\u2019m here.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Cubans reeled from the increased sanctions and their own increasingly wary government’s clampdown, the pandemic struck.<<\/p>\n

Tourism came to a screeching halt as the island went into total lockdown and Cubans abroad could no longer send medicines and money via “mules,” what Cubans call the people who ferry items into the island in suitcases.<\/p>\n

Increasingly cash-strapped, the Cuban government began charging for hard-to-find goods in foreign currencies.<\/p>\n

Food lines — already a daily ritual for many Cubans — wrapped around blocks and forced people to congregate as the number of coronavirus<\/a> cases climbed higher and higher.<\/p>\n

For many Cubans the choice was one between going hungry and risking infection.<\/p>\n

“Every day there are people out here for whatever there is, some days you don’t even know what products they are going to be selling,” said Rachel, who asked her last name not be used, while she waited in a line for chicken. “You have to be out here if you want to have food.” …<\/p>\n

Police dragged off scores of the protesters, forcibly detaining them.<\/p>\n

JOHANNESBURG (AP) \u2014 South Africa\u2019s rioting continued Tuesday with the death toll rising to 32 as police and the military struggle to quell the looting and violence in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.<\/p>\n

Many of the deaths occurred in chaotic stampedes as scores of people looted food, electric appliances, liquor, and clothing from retail centers, KwaZulu-Natal premier Sihle Zikalala told the press on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday\u2019s events brought a lot of sadness. The number of people who have died in KwaZulu-Natal alone stands at 26. Many of them died from being trampled on during a stampede while people were looting items,\u201d said Zikalala.<\/p>\n

In Gauteng, South Africa\u2019s most populous province which includes the largest city, Johannesburg, six people have died, said officials.<\/p>\n

The president of Guatemala vowed Monday to crack down on demonstrators complaining of mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic and protesting delays in shipments of Russia\u2019s Sputnik vaccine.<\/p>\n

A crowd of about 300 protesters gathered Saturday in the main square of the capital to demand the resignation of President Alejandro Giammattei for his failure to obtain enough vaccine.<\/p>\n

On Monday, banners appeared on several streets in Guatemala City demanding Giammattei resign.<\/p>\n

As the Taliban surge through northern Afghanistan \u2014 a traditional stronghold of U.S.-allied warlords and an area dominated by the country\u2019s ethnic minorities \u2014 thousands of families like Sakina\u2019s are fleeing their homes, fearful of living under the insurgents\u2019 rule.<\/p>\n

In the last 15 days, Taliban advances have driven more than 5,600 families from their homes, most of them in the northern reaches of the country, according to the government\u2019s Refugee and Repatriations Ministry. …<\/p>\n

The U.S., Russia, China and even Afghanistan\u2019s neighbor Pakistan, where the Taliban leadership council is headquartered, have all warned the Taliban against trying for a military victory, warning they will be international pariahs. Taliban leaders have vowed they are not doing so, even as they boast of their gains in recent meetings in Iran and in Russia …<\/p>\n

Maradi, whose brother was refused permission to leave, said he doesn\u2019t trust the Taliban promises.<\/p>\n

The parliamentary and presidential elections were due to take place last autumn, but difficulties in reaching consensus on the modality and timelines for the elections caused significant delays. The conflict took a sharp turn in February when the incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, \u201cFarmaajo\u201d, sought parliamentary approval to extend his term in office. By April, armed clashes between government forces and armed groups loyal to different oppositional figures spread in parts of Mogadishu, the federal capital.<\/p>\n

The violence that took place in Mogadishu had not been seen since the formal end of the transitional period a decade ago. As efforts to quell the conflict and put elections back on track are under way, the reverberating effects have already been felt by many.<\/p>\n

But this dangerous slideback into conflict poses a great danger to Somali women and girls, in particular, as it significantly increases the risk of sexual violence and diminishes public spaces for women\u2019s participation. https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/opinions\/2021\/7\/13\/women-must-be-included-in-conflict-mediation-in-somalia<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As far as the USA goes, the following headline gives a clue: MS: In Many Cities In America, The Criminals Are Starting To Gain Firm Control Of The Streets<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are also conflicts currently between Turkey and Greece, Hamas and Israel, Libya, etc.<\/p>\n

Notice something that Jesus predicted:<\/p>\n

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:6-8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Both COVID-19 and what we are seeing associated with protests and rumors of war could be a factor in ‘apocalyptic’ matters such as the following:<\/p>\n

3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” 4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword. (Revelation 6:3-4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The literal Greek here for “peace” (\u03b5\u1f30\u03c1\u03ae\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd transliterated as eir\u0113n\u0113n) in Revelation 6 can be interpreted to mean taking away prosperity as well (see BibleHub.com). COVID-19 has, to a degree, done that. People are afraid or at least uneasy to a degree we have not seen around the world anytime in the 21st century. Plus there are a lot of protests and then there are the actual conflicts, such as Ethiopia, Syria, Libya, etc.<\/p>\n

Barnes Notes on the Bible<\/em> states:<\/p>\n

The power given to him that sat on the horse: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. This would seem to indicate that the condition immediately preceding this was a condition of tranquility, and that this was now disturbed by some cause producing discord and bloodshed. This idea is confirmed by the original words – \u03c4\u1f74\u03bd \u03b5\u1f30\u03c1\u03ae\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd t\u0113n eir\u0113n\u0113n – “the peace”; that is, the previously existing peace. When peace in general is referred to, the word is used without the article: Matthew 10:34, “Think not that I am come to send peace – \u03b2\u03b1\u03bb\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bd \u03b5\u1f30\u03c1\u03ae\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd balein eir\u0113n\u0113n – upon the earth.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So, this rider is not just a rider of war, but taking away THE peace.<\/p>\n

It is NOT constant physical warfare everywhere, though physical violence and warfare (consistent with Jesus’ words in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21) will also occur.<\/p>\n

But things will get worse.<\/p>\n

The old WCG also put out the following:<\/p>\n

Where is it all going to end? That was the question the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ posed in the twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew. Christ’s answer, known as the Olivet Prophecy, is quite revealing. “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars,” Christ said, referring to one of the prophetic signals that would herald the end of an age (verse 6).<\/p>\n

Certainly there have always been wars. And certainly Christ’s words had particular meaning for that day and age. Within a few short decades Roman legions under the command of Titus sacked, burned and pillaged the city of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

But Jesus’ warning about war was also applicable to another period in history. In the book of Revelation, Christ, speaking through the apostle John, amplified some of His previous prophetic statements. In the sixth chapter, John writes: “And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword” (Rev. 6:4).<\/p>\n

John was not speaking about the fall of Jerusalem. That war was already some twenty years behind him. John was referring to future events that would bring 6000 years of human history crashing to a cataclysmic close. \u2026 John is referring to a time yet ahead of us<\/strong> when \u201cpeaceful coexistence\u201d will be a thing of the past. …<\/p>\n

It’s no wonder that Jeremiah, in referring to these tumultuous times, stated: “Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble …” (Jer. 30:7). (Ritter G. 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse – The Red Horse – War, pp. 48, 52; see also Ritter R. The War that could end it all. Good News, December 1975)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There may also be wars in parts of the world that have rarely had them (perhaps, for example, even between some South American nations), as well as wars in areas that have long been especially tense (like Korea, possibly involving other Asian nations). Damascus (capital of Syria) ultimately will be destroyed and could be a signal for destruction to come for Jacob (Isaiah 17:1-4). There will likely be civil unrest and perhaps rioting in scales not seen before, including within some Western nations (such as in Europe and North America). This will lead to military leaders rising up in various parts of the world. And one European<\/a> (the final King of the North<\/a>) will, after making one or more false peace deals\/pronouncements (e.g. Daniel 9:26-27; 11:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:3), become the final Beast leader (Revelation 13:4) and he will take over many nations (Daniel 11:39-43).<\/p>\n

We are getting closer to the start of the Great Tribulation than most people realize.<\/p>\n

Somewhat paralleling the ride of the second horseman of Revelation 6:3-4, Jesus warned about wars and disturbances:<\/p>\n

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. (Matthew 24:6-7a)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Nation … against nation” is literally “ethnos … against ethnos” in the original Greek. Notice how the Orthodox Jewish Bible translates the first half of Matthew 24:7:<\/p>\n

\n

For there will be an intifada of ethnic group against ethnic group,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Last year, I wrote:<\/p>\n

Look for ethnic, class, and\/or racial strife in 2020.<\/span> (20 items to prophetically watch in 2020<\/a>).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Between the ‘George Floyd’ protests and looting in the USA, protests and crackdowns in Hong Kong, and the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a lot of strife was seen in 2020.<\/p>\n

And then there were the COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n

Consider that the opening of the second seal (Revelation 6:3-4) is to result in less peace on the Earth.<\/p>\n

While this is commonly called the red horse (or horseman) of war, that is not quite what is stated. Notice that he “takes peace from the earth AND that people should kill one another.” Could it be that events in 2020, such as COVID-19 are consistent with taking “peace from the earth”?<\/p>\n

Around the world people are AFRAID. The feeling of normalcy is gone for many around the globe. Consider that the travel restrictions are because of fear. The media and government officials are saying everything will not go back to how it was and that we need to accept what they have called “the new normal.” Speculatively, could this be related to the opening of the second seal?<\/p>\n

Not since World War II have we seen anything affect the entire planet so much. I have had a kind of gnawing feeling that perhaps the second seal was opened the late Spring or early Summer of 2020 (if not in the Fall of 2019) that perhaps we needed to better reconsider the opening of the second seal as possible.<\/p>\n

We expect to see more wars, rumors of war, and civil unrest.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Sorrows and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Revelation 6:1-8 shows the opening of four seals and discusses the rides of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Each of which appears to be associated with aspects of the “beginning of sorrows” that Jesus mentions in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. What do each of the horsemen represent? Did the old Worldwide Church of God teach that these rides were still in the future in the late 21st century? Could any have began in the 21st century? Does the rider of the white horse represent Jesus or false religion? Are there ties to the interfaith and ecumenical movements? What might the bow the horseman has represent? Could this be a tie to Satan the Devil? What about the Beast and False Prophet? Has the “beginning of sorrows” started? Could the first seal be opened? Could COVID-19 have anything to do with the second seal? Has “the peace” been taken from the earth? Could the rider of the red horse have begun with an opening of the second seal? What about riots, looting wars, and rumors of war? Are food inflation, food shortages, and famines associated with the opening of the third seal and rider of the black horse of famine? Could human actions such as evolution teachings, genetically-modified crops, and viral research be factors in the rides of the four horsemen? Is more than death related to pestilences associated with the rider of the pale horse, the fourth seal? Why might this be a factor in 666? Will most people fail to recognize the rides of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse until it is too late to take action? What about the fifth seal and the start of the Great Tribulation? Are there problems with Roman and Eastern Orthodox prophecies concerning the end and the Great Monarch? What about prophecies related to Noah, the King of the North, Armageddon, and Antichrist?
