COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n Politico<\/em> reports that millions in the USA are about to face possible eviction (above photo from Pixabay):<\/p>\n The federal eviction moratorium in place since September is set to expire Saturday, after the Biden administration refused to extend it and Democrats in Congress couldn’t muster the votes to intervene.<\/em><\/p>\n July 31, 2021<\/p>\n As the clock runs out on a nationwide eviction ban for what\u2019s expected to be the final time, millions of tenants are staring at the prospect of losing their homes as they wait for emergency rental aid that the government has failed to deliver.<\/p>\n The federal eviction moratorium in place since September is set to expire Saturday, after the Biden administration refused to extend it and Democrats in Congress couldn’t muster the votes to intervene. <\/b>Now lawmakers and activists fear an unprecedented surge in evictions in the coming months just as the highly transmissible Delta variant causes a spike in coronavirus cases. …<\/p>\n “We\u2019ve been circling a drain,\u201d said KC Tenants Director Tara Raghuveer, a housing organizer in Kansas City, Mo. \u201cOn Saturday, poor and working-class tenants go down the drain in some places.\u201d …<\/p>\n Biden also suggested that they institute their own bans: \u201cState and local governments should also be aware that there is no legal barrier to moratorium at the state and local level.”<\/p>\n Housing advocates are warning of awful images and hardships for many Americans who have suffered the most from Covid-19. https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/07\/31\/eviction-moratorium-rental-assistance-biden-501917<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page are aware, I have had major disagreements with many COVID policies.<\/p>\n Government policies hurt the economy, have hurt landlords, and have set the stage for this likely eviction crisis. I say “likely” because courts or other governmental entities may take steps related to it.<\/p>\n The eviction moratorium was not a proper idea in the first place.<\/p>\n It stopped landlords from getting paid.<\/p>\n That was wrong.<\/p>\n It is wrong to not pay one’s rent.<\/p>\n It was also wrong to put into place policies that unnecessarily hurt the economy and many of the poor.<\/p>\n And while many seem to despise property owners for their wealth, the reality is that landlording is difficult business (and no, I have never been a landlord, only a renter and homeowner) and many landlords are not wealthy.<\/p>\n In the case of paying our office rent, our landlady uses the money we send her to pay her bills as she is retired. Our rent payment is possibly about 1\/4-1\/2 of her total income (the rest might be social security).<\/p>\n We, of course, always have paid our rent, and hence will not be impacted directly by the end of the eviction moratorium.<\/p>\n But the fact that there has been the moratorium for such a long time will mean that there are a lot of people facing eviction.<\/p>\n Consider the following prophecy:<\/p>\n 16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Millions have felt that the government was allowing them to not have to pay rent.<\/p>\n The reality is that if millions of American are actually evicted, not only will that be bad for the evicted, it will also be bad for society.<\/p>\n Civil unrest is expected in the USA and massive evictions could trigger more unrest.<\/p>\n The USA needs national repentance and the Kingdom of God<\/a>.<\/p>\n Some items of possibly related interest may include:<\/em><\/p>\n COVID 19 is NOT the End, but could it be TEOTWAWKI?<\/a> The novel coronavirus called COVID-19 is wreaking havoc around the world.
