COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n The US Supreme Court has ruled and millions in the USA are about to face possible eviction (above photo from Pixabay):<\/p>\n WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The Supreme Court … is allowing evictions to resume across the United States, blocking the Biden administration from enforcing a temporary ban that was put in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n The court\u2019s action ends protections for roughly 3.5 million people in the United States who said they faced eviction in the next two months, according to Census Bureau data from early August.<\/p>\n The court said late Thursday in an unsigned opinion that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which reimposed the moratorium<\/a> Aug. 3, lacked the authority to do so under federal law without explicit congressional authorization. The justices rejected the administration\u2019s arguments in support of the CDC\u2019s authority.<\/p>\n \u201cIf a federally imposed eviction moratorium is to continue, Congress must specifically authorize it,\u201d the court wrote. https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/health-courts-pandemics-coronavirus-pandemic-us-supreme-court-dcd2da5f88b0396c05d85c00591755f9<\/a><\/p>\n The U.S. Supreme Court has blocked the Biden administration’s order extending the federal eviction moratorium<\/a> to a large swath of the country, in a decision expected by both legal scholars and the White House.<\/p>\n The ban on evictions, a two-month order, was issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>. The pause covers parts of the United States that are experiencing what the CDC calls “substantial” and “high” spread of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n The unsigned decision<\/a> from the court was 6-3, with the court’s three liberal justices dissenting.<\/p>\n The court’s majority said the CDC exceeded its authority with the temporary ban.<\/p>\n The majority opinion says that the CDC for its order relied on “a decades-old statute that authorizes it to implement measures like fumigation and pest extermination.”<\/p>\n “It strains credulity to believe that this statute grants the CDC the sweeping authority that it asserts,” the majority writes, adding: “If a federally imposed eviction moratorium is to continue, Congress must specifically authorize it.” https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/08\/26\/1024668578\/court-blocks-biden-cdc-evictions-moratorium<\/a><\/p>\n The Supreme Court just delivered another loss to Joe Biden. The CDC\u2019s effort (see below) to place a moratorium on evictions has failed.<\/p>\n There was no consideration by the Biden regime for landlords who have to protect their mortgages and livelihood just like some renters do. The landlords still have taxes to pay and other bills to pay. 08\/26\/21 https:\/\/100percentfedup.com\/breaking-biden-just-lost-big-at-the-supreme-court\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n As regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News<\/em> page are aware, I have had major disagreements with many COVID policies.<\/p>\n Government policies hurt the economy, have hurt landlords, and have set the stage for this new eviction crisis.<\/p>\n The eviction moratorium was not a proper idea in the first place.<\/p>\n It stopped landlords from getting paid.<\/p>\n That was wrong.<\/p>\n It is wrong to not pay one’s rent.<\/p>\n It was also wrong to put into place policies that unnecessarily hurt the economy and many of the poor.<\/p>\n And while many seem to despise property owners for their wealth, the reality is that landlording is difficult business (and no, I have never been a landlord, only a renter and homeowner) and many landlords are not wealthy.<\/p>\n In the case of paying our office rent, our landlady uses the money we send her to pay her bills as she is retired. Our rent payment is possibly about 1\/4-1\/2 of her total income (the rest might be social security). Judging from how her small home looks, she is not wealthy.<\/p>\n We, of course, always have paid our rent, and hence will not be impacted directly by the end of the eviction moratorium.<\/p>\n But the fact that there has been the moratorium for such a long time will mean that there are a lot of people facing eviction.<\/p>\n Consider the following prophecy:<\/p>\n 16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Millions have felt that the government was allowing them to not have to pay rent.<\/p>\n The reality is that if millions of American are actually evicted, not only will that be bad for the evicted, it will also be bad for society.<\/p>\n Jesus taught:<\/p>\n 25 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (Matthew 12:25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n There is more divide in the USA and parts of it certainly appear to be intentional. Much of it is ideological. The USA is quite disunited and is becoming more polarized. This will not end well for the USA (cf. Ezekiel 7:23-24; Daniel 11:39, see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a><\/span>).
