Pope Francis has authorized a \u201cthorough study\u201d of sexual abuse allegations against retired Washington, D.C., Cardinal Theodore McCarrick that is being called by some prominent members of the Church \u201cthe Satanic 9\/11\u201d and possibly the \u201cfinal trial\u201d before the return of Jesus. … the personal secretary and head of the papal household for Pope Emeritus Benedict commented on the abuse crisis, stating that if the Church does not achieve renewal in its wake, civilization is \u201cat stake.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIf the Church this time does not achieve a renewing of herself with God\u2019s help, the whole project of our civilization is again at stake,\u201d said Archbishop Georg G\u00e4nswein. \u201cFor many, it already seems as if the Church of Jesus Christ could never recover from the catastrophe of her sin which right now seems nearly to swallow her.\u201d<\/p>\n

G\u00e4nswein referred to the abuse crisis as \u201cSatanic\u201d and the alluded to it potentially being a \u201cfinal trial\u201d for the Church before the second coming of Christ. 10\/07\/18. https:\/\/www.wnd.com\/2018\/10\/catholicisms-final-trial-before-jesus-return\/#5tqL5gItRIZz4y8g.99<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While I do not believe that the sex scandals facing the Church of Rome are the ‘final trial’ before Jesus returns (e.g. since the Great Tribulation has not yet began), these scandals, which have been in the news for the past several years, may be consistent with certain Roman Catholic predictions.<\/p>\n

The Roman Catholics have a couple of prophecies about their church facing scandals:<\/p>\n

\n

Ven. Holzhauser<\/em> (17th century): The Great Monarch will come when the Latin Church is desolated, humiliated, and afflicted with many heresies<\/strong> (Dupont Y. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, p. 114).<\/p>\n

Nicholas of Fluh <\/em>(15th century): The Church will be punished because the majority of her members, high and low, will become so perverted<\/strong>. (Dupont, p. 30)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We have seen that many perverted have been associated with the Church of Rome–one cleric has claimed that 2\/3 of priests have broken their celibacy vows–see \u2018Pope adviser urges rethink on Catholic celibacy\u2019 Two-thirds of Catholic priests reportedly are NOT celibate<\/a> (see also AP: More than 220 people sue on Guam alleging clergy sex abuse<\/a> and NCR: In new letter, Benedict blames clergy abuse on sexual revolution, Vatican II theology; RN: Is Benedict XVI the REAL pope?<\/a> and Pope reportedly considering allowing priests to marry at Amazon Synod; AP reports 1700 Catholic priests suspected of sex abuse are still out there<\/a>). Here is one from this Summer: Another scandal: Roman Catholic priests outed for using homosexual app<\/a>. These pedophile and other sex scandals have humiliated the Church of Rome (\u201cthe Latin Church\u201d).<\/p>\n

So, if the first prediction above is correct, then we are very near the time that the \u201cGreat Monarch<\/a><\/span>\u201d will rise up. I believe he will do so this century, and likely within a decade or so.<\/p>\n

Also, according to an Eastern Orthodox writer, the \u201cGreat Monarch<\/a><\/span>\u201d is also supposed to rise up during the time there are \u201cvery impious priests\u201d (Tzima Otto, p. 53; see also The Great Monarch: Biblical and Catholic Prophecies<\/a><\/span>)\u2013which would be consistent with the whole sex scandal issue among the Roman Catholic priesthood.<\/p>\n

Notice also the following Roman Catholic warnings:<\/p>\n

Nursing Nun of Bellay <\/em>(died 1820): “All these things shall come to pass once the wicked have succeeded in circulating large numbers of bad books.” (Dupont, p.51)<\/p>\n

Trappistine Nun of Notre Dame des Gardes<\/em>. “Chastisement will come when a very large number of bad books have been spread” (Dupont, p 114).<\/p>\n

Abbe Voclin<\/em>. “People will speak only of money. Horrible books will be freely available. Intellectuals will argue fiercely among themselves. Then war will break out that will see the rise of the Great Monarch” (Dupont, p. 114).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Many may find it of interest to realize that the Great Monarch<\/a><\/span> that various Eastern and Roman Catholic prophecies look forward to seems remarkably similar to the King of the North<\/a> Beast power that the Bible warns against. The Great Monarch, for a time, will restore a CHANGED and even more ecumenical version of Eastern and Roman catholicism and many will go for it.<\/p>\n

As far as the ‘final trial’ and Catholicism goes, notice another view of it from a cardinal:<\/p>\n

UTRECHT, Netherlands, May 7, 2018 (LifeSiteNews<\/a>) \u2013 A Dutch cardinal has said that Pope Francis\u2019 failure to uphold the Church\u2019s authentic faith makes him think of the Catechism of the Catholic Church\u2019s prophecy of a \u201cfinal trial\u201d for the Church before the second coming of Christ.<\/p>\n

Cardinal Willem Eijk, 64, the Archbishop of Utrecht, made the startling comment in an article<\/a> published today at the National Catholic Register.<\/p>\n

Eijk, who was created a cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012, got his medical degree before ordination to the priesthood and went on to complete three PhDs in medicine, philosophy and theology.<\/p>\n

In the article, the Cardinal laments Pope Francis\u2019 failure<\/a> to bring clarity on the question of intercommunion with Protestants during last week\u2019s meeting at the Vatican with German bishops. The Pope told the German bishops to obtain unanimous approval on the issue, but, says Cardinal Eijk, he should have simply reminded them of the Church\u2019s clear doctrine and practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy failing to create clarity, great confusion is created among the faithful and the unity of the Church is endangered,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cObserving that the bishops and, above all, the Successor of Peter fail to maintain and transmit faithfully and in unity the deposit of faith contained in Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, I cannot help but think of Article 675 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

That article of the Catechism, which he quoted in full, warns of a trial that will \u201cshake the faith of many believers.\u201d It prophesies a persecution that will \u201cunveil the \u2018mystery of iniquity\u2019 in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth.\u201d …<\/p>\n

He is not the first Cardinal to recognize the confusion in the Church caused by Pope Francis as a sign of the end times. At the Rome Life Forum last year, the late Cardinal Carlo Caffarra spoke of the confusion in the Church around marriage and the family as the fulfillment of a prophecy he received.<\/p>\n

In a letter Cardinal Caffarra received from Sr. Lucia, the Fatima visionary wrote that the \u201cfinal battle between the Lord and the kingdom of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Do not be afraid, (she added), because anyone who works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be fought and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

That final battle, he said at the Rome Life Forum, \u201cis being fulfilled today.\u201d https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/cardinal-raises-question-is-pope-francis-part-of-churchs-final-trial<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Perhaps I should mention that Pope Francis’ compromises with the Protestants<\/a> and others will lead, temporarily, to a rise of a revised version of Catholicism that the world will mainly embrace (cf. Revelation 13:4,8), for a time (Revelation 17:15-18).<\/span><\/p>\n

Now the picture at the beginning of this post is the cover of a book that I have read written by a Catholic author, Desmond Birch. While he and I have not met, we exchanged emails and have spoken over the telephone regarding Catholic beliefs related to the end times.<\/p>\n

The basic premise of his book is that for centuries respected Roman Catholic authorities have predicted a period of time he has called “the minor chastisement,” which essentially is a time that the Church of Rome will be full of lax members and be punished.<\/p>\n

Essentially, Desmond Birch writes that Roman Catholic writers teach that “the minor chastisement” will lead to a time of revival for the Greco-Roman Catholic Church, that the Great Monarch (also called the Great King) will rise up, and a changed version of Catholicism will triumph.<\/p>\n

Here are some things he wrote:<\/p>\n

Our Lady told Sister Marianne:…”But this knowledge will only become known to the general public in the 20th. Century.<\/em> “During this epoch the Church will find itself attacked by waves by the secret sect… (Birch, p. 326).<\/p>\n

At some time in the future, the corrupt faithless age we live in now will come to an end either through repentance (immediately followed by an age of peace)–or there will be a chastisement. This would be a Minor Chastisement preceding an Age of Peace. It is not the Tribulation of the Antichrist…<\/p>\n

Civil war breaks out in France and Italy at almost the same time<\/em>. This is the sign given by many prophets that the Chastisement has begun…<\/p>\n

This will spread to general wars, and, famine and pestilence (the usual by-products of war)…<\/p>\n

Earthquakes, tidal waves, floods and all other sorts of “natural” disasters will occur…<\/p>\n

Some Moslems will cause great trouble for the Church and Europe in general…<\/p>\n

England will suffer a terrible civil war which starts after the French and Italians have gone through theirs. (Birch, p. 553).<\/p>\n

A man who will subsequently be known as a great saint will ultimately be elected pope near the end of the Chastisement. He will be heavily responsible for the French acceptance of a king to be their military and civil leader…(Birch, p. 553)<\/p>\n

Bl. Anna-Maria Taigi (19th Century)…”After the three days of darkness, St. Peter and St. Paul, having come down from Heaven, will preach in the whole world and designate a new Pope. A great light will flash from their bodies and will settle upon the cardinal who is to become Pope. Christianity, then, will spread throughout the world. He is the Holy Pontiff, chosen by God to withstand the storm<\/em>. At the end, he will have the gift of miracles, and his name shall be praised over the whole earth (Birch, pp. 362-363).<\/p>\n

The Great King will be crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the reigning Pope (Birch, p. 555).<\/p>\n

At some point, the Great King chases an invading Moslem army back to the Holy Land…(Birch, p. 553)<\/p>\n

The Great King will lead his forces to…victory (Birch, p. 554)<\/p>\n

The Great King will establish Peace and justice in civil matters on a worldwide basis, and protect the primacy of the Church in spiritual matters. The former disciplines of the Church are fully restored and order is re-established.<\/p>\n

The Pope calls an Ecumenical Council<\/em> which will be viewed as the greatest in the history of the Church. The world is spiritually and materially prosperous as never before and many Jews, Mohammedans, heathens and heretics will enter the Church.<\/p>\n

Extended prosperity causes people to begin to grow lax in the practice of their faith.<\/p>\n

Wars and bad economic times break out again after some period of time during which the faithful fall into laxity…<\/p>\n

The “False Prophet” arrives–the Precursor of Antichrist. He will “ape” the role that St. John the Baptist performed in preparing the people for the arrival of the Messiah.<\/p>\n

All of this prepares the way for the coming of Antichrist. He begins his rise to power at about the age of thirty. After he seizes total power he begins a three and one half year of bestial persecution of the Church. (Birch pp. 555, 556).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to Bible prophecy, the Church of the City of Seven Hills\/Mountains will be in league with the governments of this world, but then be destroyed:<\/p>\n

\n
1<\/strong><\/span> Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, <\/span><\/div>\n
2<\/strong><\/span> with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” <\/span><\/div>\n
3<\/strong><\/span> So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. <\/span><\/div>\n
4<\/strong><\/span> The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. <\/span><\/div>\n
5<\/strong><\/span> And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. <\/span><\/div>\n
6<\/strong><\/span> I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. <\/span><\/div>\n
7<\/strong><\/span> But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. <\/span><\/div>\n
8<\/strong><\/span> The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. <\/span><\/div>\n
9<\/strong><\/span> Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sit<\/strong>s. …

12<\/strong><\/span> The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. <\/span><\/div>\n
13<\/strong><\/span> These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.<\/span> …
\n15<\/strong><\/span> Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
16<\/strong><\/span> And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire<\/strong>. <\/span><\/div>\n
17<\/strong><\/span> For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. <\/span><\/div>\n
18<\/strong><\/span> And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth<\/strong>.” (Revelation 17:1-9, 12-13, 15-18)
\n<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Despite the sex scandals, there will be some public image changes for the Church of Rome. The Church of Seven Hills will be in league with the Beast power that will rise up.<\/p>\n

But eventually it will turn against that church and it will be destroyed (Revelation 17:15-18).<\/p>\n

That will, in essence, be the final trial of the Church of Rome.<\/p>\n

Shortly thereafter, Jesus will return.<\/p>\n
