Cost of weather disasters surged in 2021<\/h2>\n

The most expensive weather disaster in 2021 was Hurricane Ida, which hit the eastern US in late summer<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A tally provided by\u00a0humanitarian organization\u00a0Christian Aid put the cost of the 10 most expensive weather disasters<\/a> of 2021 at $170 billion (\u20ac150 billion).<\/p>\n

From deadly Hurricane Ida<\/a>\u00a0in the United States to devastating floods in China and Europe, environmental\u00a0disasters\u00a0like storms, fires and heat waves have cost the world\u00a0$20 billion\u00a0more this year than last, the group said on Monday.<\/p>\n

The researchers … added that the 10 disasters in question also killed at least 1,075 people and displaced 1.3 million others. …<\/p>\n

A winter storm in Texas that took out the\u00a0state’s power grid caused $23 billion in damages, followed by flooding in China’s Henan province in July, which\u00a0cost an estimated $17.6 billion.<\/p>\n

Other disasters costing several billion dollars include flooding in western Canada, a late spring freeze in France that damaged vineyards\u00a0and a cyclone that struck\u00a0India and Bangladesh in May.<\/p>\n

There was also the devastating tornadoes that hit several USA states earlier this month (see Tornadoes cause damage in 5 states; scores appear to be dead<\/a>).<\/p>\n

God controls the weather and sometimes provides extreme weather for correction. Notice the following from the old WCG:<\/p>\n

The Bible makes plain who is in control of the weather! “Fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word” (Ps . 148:8 , RAV).<\/p>\n

God intervenes in weather to work out his purposes among nations…<\/p>\n

Plagues of disastrous weather are a warning to humanity. Weather for the most part operates according to natural laws. Damaging weather patterns sometimes develop. God simply may not choose to intervene to stop them because of nations’ various sins and idolatry.<\/p>\n

The Bible reveals God also directly intervenes to cause weather plagues to warn certain nations. “I have smitten you with blasting and mildew . .. yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord” (Amos 4:9). He, in his great purpose, may also allow Satan-the god of this world (II Cor. 4:4)-to have a role in producing calamitous weather, for man’s ultimate learning (see Job, chapter 1). (Schroeder D. CHAOTIC WEATHER Return of the dust bowl? Plain Truth. 1984, pp. 19-20)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Bible repeatedly warns, especially in the Hebrew scriptures, that various sins will result in destructive weather. Notice some from Deuteronomy:<\/p>\n

13 ‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15 And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.’ 16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, 17 lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you. (Deuteronomy 11:13-17)<\/p>\n

15 “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: 16 “Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. … 22 The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching<\/strong>, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. 23 And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron. 24 The Lord will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed<\/strong>. (Deuteronomy 28:15-16, 22-24)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yes, extreme weather can be the result of human sin.<\/p>\n

As far as heat goes, the following is expected in either the next decade or the one following it:<\/p>\n

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. (Revelation 16:8-9)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

People should repent of their sins.<\/p>\n

The Apostle Peter was inspired to write the following:<\/p>\n

1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, \u201cWhere is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.\u201d 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.<\/p>\n

8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:1-9)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There are many scoffers during these last days. And many do claim that what is happening is not related to biblical prophecies and all that is happening is ‘normal.’<\/p>\n

But when we continue to have ‘record breaking’ heat, ‘unprecedented’ floods, and perhaps the longest ever tornado, etc. the trend should be obvious.<\/p>\n

Long term readers of this COGwriter Church of God news page may recall that back in 2009, in a book that accurately laid out what would and would NOT happen in 2012, I mentioned the following was about to happen:<\/p>\n

Considering all of the natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, food shortages, and economic problems in the past few years, perhaps this would be a good time to explain that the Bible shows that these problems were expected to occur prior to the great tribulation. Those outside the Bible have sometimes referred to a time such as this as a time of transition or chaos. \u2026<\/p>\n

There will be a generation that will experience end-time events, beginning with \u201csorrows,\u201d including the Great Tribulation, heavenly signs, and finally the return of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:5-34). \u2026<\/p>\n

Mark recorded the same account of this time from his perspective:<\/p>\n

3<\/sup> Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, 4<\/sup> \u201cTell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?\u201d 5<\/sup> And Jesus, answering them, began to say: \u201cTake heed that no one deceives you. 6<\/sup> For many will come in My name, saying, \u2018I am He,\u2019 and will deceive many. 7<\/sup> But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8<\/sup> For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines<\/strong> and troubles<\/strong>. These are the beginnings of sorrows<\/strong>. 9<\/sup> But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them. 10<\/sup> And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. 11<\/sup> But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit\u2026\u201d (Mark 13:3\u201311).<\/p>\n

Thus, in both Matthew and Mark it is clear that a time called \u201cthe beginning of sorrows\u201d precedes the Great Tribulation.<\/p>\n

Notice that in Mark\u2019s account he uses the term troubles. Troubles would seem to include economic and political problems, in addition to those specifically mentioned, such as wars, famines, natural disasters, and pestilences. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Odd weather patterns result in food shortages and natural disasters.<\/td>\nMatthew 24:7<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The world is actually in a berserk transition, as the real age of peace is not yet here. It may be a period of chaos. It is the beginning of sorrows.<\/td>\nMatthew 24:8<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The above was published because it was consistent with Bible prophecy. We have been seeing odd weather patterns and more extreme disasters.<\/p>\n

Extreme weather should be a wake-up call to repent. But also to support the proclamation of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Weather changes should show everyone that everything does not have to continue as it has.<\/p>\n

The Bible shows that more disasters are coming.<\/p>\n

Weather and other warnings from the Bible are going out, but many will ignore them.<\/p>\n
