Washington DC (CNA) <\/span><\/span>– Cardinal James Francis Stafford<\/strong>, head of the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See<\/strong>, delivered a lecture on Thursday saying that the future under President-elect Obama will echo Jesus\u2019 agony in Gethsemane.<\/span><\/p>\n

Criticizing Obama as \u201caggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic<\/strong>,\u201d he went on to speak about a decline in respect for human life and the need for Catholics to return to the values of marriage and human dignity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Delivered at the Catholic University of America, the cardinal\u2019s lecture was titled \u201cPope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II: Being True in Body and Soul,\u201d the student university paper The Tower reports. Hosted by the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, his words focused upon Paul VI\u2019s encyclical Humanae Vitae, whose fortieth anniversary is marked this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on the results of the recent presidential election, Cardinal Stafford said on Election Day \u201cAmerica suffered a cultural earthquake<\/strong>.\u201d The cardinal argued that President-elect Obama had campaigned on an \u201cextremist anti-life platform\u201d and predicted that the near future would be a time of trial.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf 1968 was the year of America\u2019s \u2018suicide attempt,\u2019 2008 is the year of America\u2019s exhaustion,\u201d he said, contrasting the year of Humane Vitae\u2019s promulgation with this election year…<\/span><\/p>\n

The cardinal attributed America\u2019s decline to the Supreme Court\u2019s decisions such as the 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade, which imposed permissive abortion laws nationwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIts scrupulous meanness has had catastrophic effects upon the unity and integrity of the American republic,\u201d Cardinal Stafford commented, according to The Tower. http:\/\/catholicnewsagency.com\/new.php?n=14355<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

What about Barack Obama and prophecy? How may Barack Obama be “apocalyptic”?\u00a0 Here are 8 possible ways, eight reasons why:<\/p>\n

Since the Roe vs. Wade pro-abortion decision, the USA has became the greatest debtor nation in the history of humankind.\u00a0 Since the USA owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening to it now.\u00a0 Barack Obama has indicated that he will support economic policies that will likely increase that debt.\u00a0 Yet, the Bible specifically warns that increasing national debt like this will lead to destruction in Habakkuk 2:6-8 (see also Anglo – America in Prophecy<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  4. One of the first actual changes that Barack Obama is expected to implement is reversing certain executive orders that will likely lead to more abortions (see Obama May Quickly Encourage Additional Abortions<\/a>).\u00a0 Yet, abortion is wrong (see Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman\u2019s Right to Choose<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  5. To a great degree, women put him in power (see Women Chose Barack Obama<\/a>).\u00a0 The Bible specifically warns about women ruling (Isaiah 3:12).\u00a0 It has been suggested that the highest cabinet post in Barack Obama’s administration may go to Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 Barack Obama will also often need to heed the advice of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives (who has been criticized for her pro-abortion stance, see Vatican Offical Says No to Biden and Pelosi, But Not to Palin<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  6. Barck Obama has pledged increased cooperation with the Europeans<\/a>.\u00a0 This cooperation is likely to lead to the rise of the prophesied King of the North<\/a>, who is to be the final leader of the Beast of Revelation<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  7. Barack Obama has called for increased dialogue with those considered as enemies of the USA.\u00a0 Even Shiite Muslims believe that his presidency may lead to the rise of their Madhi (see Barack Obama in Islamic Prophecy?<\/a>), who seems to be the same person that the Bible calls the King of the South.<\/a><\/li>\n
  8. An increase of military action in Afghanistan, which candidate Barack Obama continually called for, may stretch USA military commitments.\u00a0 Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is likely to shift priorities away from defense spending and encourage the Europeans to increase their military might.\u00a0 This will lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans<\/a> are ready and the USA is not.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The truth is that Barack Obama seems well meaning and he is trying to encourage the Americans to back him as he works on his economic agenda.\u00a0 Americans are so concerned about the economy that most do not care that the policies that Barack Obama will likely implement within his first several weeks of office will result in more abortions and other sins in this nation.<\/p>\n

    President-elect Obama needs our prayers.\u00a0 The Apostle Paul<\/a> wrote:<\/p>\n

    1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4).<\/p>\n

    Without national repentance, the United States is doomed for destruction.\u00a0 The focus needs to be on turning to the God of the Bible and not simply on the hope that President-elect Obama will somehow stave off economic disaster for 4-5 years while ignoring the nation’s sins.<\/p>\n
