Opinion: The Catholic Church cannot police itself<\/h2>\n

Twenty years have passed since the Boston Globe<\/a> report on the sexual abuse of children by members of the Boston Archdiocese of the Catholic Church. The time since has only lengthened the catalogue of horrors, with untold numbers of cases of children abused at the hands of the church across the globe.<\/p>\n

Year on year, the numbers have grown as victims have continued to demand redress \u2014 and the public has slowly become numb to the magnitude of the crimes. Sporadically, a new report, like the one from last week in Munich<\/a>, erupts into public view and sheds more light on the scale of the abuse.<\/p>\n

The latest report adds 500 victims between 1945 and 2019 in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising to the more than 3,500 victims across Germany, which was revealed in an explosive church report in 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Ireland, 9,000 dead children,<\/a> who died in uncertain circumstances at the infamous mother-and-baby homes, were buried in unmarked graves. The widespread abuse of children in\u00a0Catholic residential schools<\/a>\u00a0in Canada led to at least 6,000 deaths, many discovered in unmarked graves. In France, an independent study estimated last year that since 1945, members of the Catholic church have abused more than 300,000 children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Conspiracy of silence<\/h3>\n

But it’s not just the abuse itself that makes the history of sexual crimes against minors so profoundly disturbing. The church has shown, in its scandalously sluggish pace of reform, that it is unwilling to invite national authorities to investigate these crimes. Its institutional conspiracy of silence \u2014 the protection of the secrecy of confession, and the refusal to make files public or hand them over to authorities \u2014 now seem confirmed by the revelations of the Munich and Freising report, which implicated former Pope Benedict XVI, then known as\u00a0Joseph Ratzinger,\u00a0in four cases of abuse.<\/p>\n

Officials within the Catholic Church aided and abetted crimes against children. What we know now is that the former pope knew of the abuse, helped with the relocation of at least one abuser, and then gave false information about it. https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/wp-admin\/post-new.php<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One of the reasons that the Church of Rome has had these issues is because it eventually embraced celibacy for its clergy, which was not the practice of the early Christian church (see Was Celibacy Required for Early Bishops or Presbyters<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Partially because of these sex scandals, the Catholic News Agency<\/em> reported last March that a third of Roman Catholics in Germany are thinking of leaving that church:<\/p>\n

Survey: One in three Catholics in Germany thinking of leaving Church<\/h2>\n

A third of all German Catholics are considering leaving the Church, according to a new survey published on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The representative study, unveiled March 11, was conducted by the Erfurt-based opinion research institute INSA Consulere on behalf of the Catholic weekly newspaper Die Tagespost and the Protestant news agency Idea. It confirms a previous survey\u2019s findings that indicated similar numbers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of those surveyed who belong to the Catholic Church, 33% are considering leaving the church because of the ongoing scandals over the handling of clerical sex abuse cases, while 44% said that they were not going to turn their back on the Church. A further 14% of respondents indicated that they \u201cdidn\u2019t know.\u201d Nine percent of those involved in the survey did not specify an answer.https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/survey-one-in-three-catholics-in-germany-thinking-of-leaving-church<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While nearly everyone has been aware of the scandals, few people do seem to be aware that these scandals may actually help fulfill an old Roman Catholic prophecy.<\/p>\n

Notice the following written several centuries ago:<\/p>\n

Venerable Bartholomew Holzhauser<\/em> (Born in the 17th century, in Germany). The fifth period of the Church, which began circa 1520, will end with the arrival of the Holy Pope and of the powerful Monarch…The Great Monarch will come when the Latin Church is desolated, humiliated<\/strong>, and afflicted with many heresies (Dupont, Yves. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, pp. 38, 114).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

Nicholas of Fluh <\/em>(15th century): The Church will be punished because the majority of her members, high and low, will become so perverted. (Dupont, p. 30)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The pedophile and other sex scandals have humiliated the Church of Rome (“the Latin Church” to distinguish it from the Eastern\/Greek church), hence if the above prediction is correct, then we are very near the time that the “Beast” leader will rise up. People leaving it may contribute to it being “desolated”.<\/p>\n

According to an Eastern Orthodox book, the \u201cGreat Monarch\u201d is also supposed to rise up during the time there are \u201cvery impious priests\u201d (Tzima Otto, p. 53; see also The Great Monarch: Biblical and Catholic Prophecies<\/a><\/span>)\u2013which would be consistent with the whole sex scandal issue among the Roman Catholic priesthood.<\/p>\n

The Great Monarch<\/a><\/span> that the Greco-Roman Catholic prophecy speaks about shares many similarities with the one that the Bible warns will rise up as the final Beast of Revelation<\/a> and the the final King of the North<\/a> in Daniel 11:21-44. If the above prediction by Holzhauser is correct, then it is possible that these sex scandals will be a factor involved in the humiliation of the Church of Rome for this time. There are many other Catholic private prophecies that suggest a time when Catholics will not have much respect for their church, but after a time of trouble, this is supposed to change and an ecumenical version of that church is expected to rise up.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it should be mentioned that some others have noted similarities between the Great Monarch and the coming Beast-Antichrist power. Notice the following:<\/p>\n

The tradition of the Great King and the Holy Pope…first emerged from the Tiburtine Sibyl<\/em>, a work that may date back to AD 380-400…Catholic writer Paul Thigpen warns, “Looking for the Great Monarch, then, who does not appear in Scripture, might lead to overlooking the Antichrist who does…It might even lead to…mistaking the Antichrist for the Great Monarch…” (Penn L. False dawn: the United Religions Initiative, globalism, and the quest for a one-world religion. Sophia Perennis, 2005, p. 420).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Bible warns about a time when the Beast and False Prophet rise up. These individuals share characteristics to the “Great Monarch” and an “antipope” foretold in various Catholic prophecies.<\/p>\n

Whether or not there is any accuracy to these “private revelations”, according to biblical prophecy, we are very near the time when the “Beast” leader and “false prophet\/Antichrist” will rise up.<\/p>\n

What will bring the Europeans to embrace some type of religion en masse?<\/p>\n

The Bible points to marvelous military success and economic domination along with signs and lying wonders:<\/p>\n

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea … 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”<\/p>\n

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:1a,3-8)<\/p>\n

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.<\/p>\n

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:11-18)<\/p>\n

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That being said, the sex scandals may be a piece of the puzzle for certain end time prophetic events to line up.<\/p>\n

The Vatican and its followers truly have found them to be “humiliating”, which is what Holzhauser seems to have written.<\/p>\n

Yet, despite people in Germany wanting to leave the Roman Catholic<\/a> and Protestant<\/a> churches, after various events and signs, the Bible shows nearly all will embrace the ecumenical imperial religion that will be forced upon Europe. Initially the coming Beast of the Sea will feign a changed version of Roman Catholicism.<\/p>\n

But despite biblically prophesied signs and lying wonders, those that support the Beast power will actually turn against the Church of Rome according to scripture:<\/p>\n

9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. …<\/p>\n

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. …<\/p>\n

15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.” (Revelation 17:9,12,15-18)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Bible is clear that the Beast of the Earth (Revelation 13:11-17) will support the Beast of the Sea (Revelation 13:1-10) more than Rome, and the Beast of the Sea (called the King of the North<\/a> in Daniel 11:40) will support himself above existing religions (cf. Daniel 11:36-38).<\/p>\n

The masses will tolerate the betrayal of the Church of the City of Seven Hills for many reasons, including, probably, Rome’s sullied reputation because of its sexually-abusive clergy and the coverups from various of its leaders.<\/p>\n
