Renowned investor Jim Rogers discussed the end of the U.S. dollar and the future outlook for cryptocurrency in an interview published by the Economic Times Sunday. Rogers is George Soros\u2019 former business partner who co-founded the Quantum Fund and Soros Fund Management.<\/p>\n

He was asked about the outlook for the U.S. dollar and where he sees the dollar index headed. \u201cI own U.S. dollars partly because when turmoil comes, people look for a safe haven. They think the U.S. dollar is a safe haven for historic reasons,\u201d Rogers began.<\/p>\n

However, the veteran investor added:<\/p>\n

But what is happening with the U.S. dollar now is the end of the U.S. dollar because an international currency is supposed to be neutral but in Washington, they are now changing the rules.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cNow if Washington does not like you, they put sanctions on you and you cannot use U.S. dollars,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, many countries are starting to look for a competitor \u2014 China or Russia or India, Iran, Brazil \u2026 some countries are starting to look for a competing currency, and they should because Washington does not play fair anymore,\u201d he continued. …<\/p>\n

Rogers added:<\/p>\n

Of course, the U.S. is the largest debtor nation in the world. So, for fundamental reasons and political reasons, people are looking for competing currency.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI do not know what it will be yet. I hope I am smart enough to buy it when you find it. I do not like saying it. While whether or not the USA has long played fair can be debated, the reality is that it weaponized its dollar some time ago.<\/p>\n

The United States has militarized the dollar by restricting its use by countries the administration wishes to punish, such as Iran and Russia. A reserve currency is supposed to be available to everyone, not just the nations we choose.<\/p>\n

This is the death knell to the dollar. Countries around the globe are coming to realize that the U.S. cannot be trusted and that anyone can be locked out of the swift system at a whim.
