Actually, it hasn\u2019t been the war so much as it has been the\u00a0<em>West\u2019s reaction<\/em>\u00a0to the war. As only blindly arrogant believers in the Keynesian dog-and-pony show could do, we rushed to cut Russia off the SWIFT system, limited investing in Russia companies and sanctioned the country\u2019s oligarchs.<\/p>\n<p>To which Russia basically replied, \u201cOK. We still have the oil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And that has been the attitude the Kremlin has adopted, for the most part. They are falling back on their country\u2019s productive capacity when it comes to oil, continuing to do business with the Chinese, and are adding to their gold reserves. After small shocks lower in Russian markets and in the ruble, things have stabilized relatively quickly &#8211; except now, Russia has used the opportunity to make clear that they do not want to be participants in the global fiat system any longer.<\/p>\n<p>And it looks like China (and likely India) feel similarly situated.<\/p>\n<p>Just this weekend, the Kremlin said that sanctions against Russia would \u201caccelerate the erosion of confidence in the dollar and Euro\u201d. Russian propaganda or not,\u00a0<em>I think they\u2019re right.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Russia, China and the rest of the world &#8211; having seen billions in FX reserves essentially seized without due process globally &#8211; now understand they\u00a0<em>must\u00a0<\/em>get off the same monetary system as the rest of the world. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>With the economic sanctions that the West has tried to implement against Russia, these nations finally have an impetus to stand their ground and fight back monetarily. And that seems to be the attitude of both Russia and China right now:\u00a0<em>let\u2019s allow the currency to crash and fall back on our resources and productive capacity, because we\u2019re so confident that when the dust settles, in the long term, we\u2019ll be in a better monetary state than the West. <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/we-have-reached-end-monetary-policy-we-all-once-knew-it\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/we-have-reached-end-monetary-policy-we-all-once-knew-it<\/a><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"Article\" data-key=\"article\">\n<p>Changing the monetary system as we have known it will hurt the USA economically. The USA has benefited greatly by having its dollar as the world&#8217;s reserve currency. But now it acts like it can dictate how other nations use money as it continues to treat its currency as a weapon.<\/p>\n<p>One so-called sanction that western nations seem to think that they have the right to is to steal yachts of Russia oligarchs. While nations have the right to determine which ships they allow to dock, the idea that they can steal someone&#8217;s yacht (and by the way I have never owned a yacht or anything like one) simply because they are Russian, is simply wrong. Yet, yesterday, I saw a headline where the USA bragged about stealing some Russian man&#8217;s yacht. Just because a Russian may have assets, that does not mean that they have anything to do with the situation in Ukraine or that it is right to take any assets from someone.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, notice the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>NEW YORK\/WASHINGTON, April 5 (Reuters) &#8211; The United States stopped the Russian government on Monday from paying holders of its sovereign debt more than $600 million from reserves held at U.S. banks, in a move meant to ratchet up pressure on Moscow and eat into its holdings of dollars. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co <a class=\"text__text__1FZLe text__dark-grey__3Ml43 text__medium__1kbOh text__large__nEccO link__underline_default__2prE_\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/companies\/JPM.N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(JPM.N)<\/a>, which had been processing payments as a correspondent bank so far, was stopped by the Treasury, a source familiar with the matter said. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/us-cracks-down-russian-debt-payments-latest-sovereign-payments-halted-2022-04-05\/\">https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/us-cracks-down-russian-debt-payments-latest-sovereign-payments-halted-2022-04-05\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The USA is stopping Russia from paying people who hold bonds that Russia owns and is trying to pay. Bondholders are entitled to be paid (and no, I am not a bondholder).<\/p>\n<p>It seems that the USA is determined to destroy international reliance on its dollar, by doing such things.<\/p>\n<p>Even though such destruction makes no sense, some in the leadership in the USA keep taking steps which will destroy its dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"entry-title display-4 display-2-lg mt-2\">&#8220;THE DOLLAR IS NO BETTER THAN CANDY WRAPPERS&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p class=\"entry-title display-4 display-2-lg mt-2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onenewspage.com\/video\/20220404\/14621458\/quot-THE-DOLLAR-IS-NO-BETTER-THAN-CANDY.htm\">https:\/\/www.onenewspage.com\/video\/20220404\/14621458\/quot-THE-DOLLAR-IS-NO-BETTER-THAN-CANDY.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Candy wrappers normally look nice, but are not filled with food of proper sustenance.<\/p>\n<p>There are parallels with the USA dollar.<\/p>\n<p>As far as sanctions go, the West has sanctioned Russia for most years since shortly after World War II in one way or the other. This has pushed Russia to be less dependent upon the West than it otherwise likely would have been.<\/p>\n<p>Russia produces food, fertilizers, petroleum, weapons, and natural gas. Russia also has gold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro\">Furthermore the USA and others need to consider that reductions in Russia exports of fertilizers, wheat, and oil will tend to contribute to inflation for the West.<\/p>\n<p>As regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page are aware, I have long warned about sanctions&#8211;particularly against Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Back on March 18, 2019, I posted:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It remains my view that Crimea and at least parts of eastern Ukraine will ultimately align with Russia.<\/p>\n<p>International sanctions will not stop biblical prophecies from being fulfilled.
