The Russian invasion of Ukraine exposes the weaknesses and dependencies of the European Union and its member states, and their inability to project peace and stability. European, and especially Ukrainian, citizens are suffering for the costs of non-Europe in the fields of energy, fiscal, foreign and defence policies.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>EU member states spend on defence more than twice as much as Russia, without any significant deterrent capacity. Raising national defence expenditures to 2% will only increase the waste unless aimed at creating a real defence union. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In the Conference on the future of Europe the Citizens Panels and the digital platform proposals converge in demanding a more united, efficient, social and democratic Europe, based on a real Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>We European citizens believe this is the defining hour for the EU. Therefore, we call upon<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Conference on the Future of Europe \u2013 involving European and national institutions, civil society and citizens \u2013 to demand a new European Constitution to establish (as sketched out also in the current German coalition agreement) a federal European Republic, including foreign, security, defence, fiscal and energy policies;<\/li>\n<li>the European Parliament to draft and propose a comprehensive Treaty reform or a new European Constitution on the basis of the Conference results and the new situation created by the Russian invasion of Ukraine;<\/li>\n<li>the European Council to decide the start of a new Convention that shall take the European Parliament draft as its basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Appeal was drafted by Roberto Castaldi, Yves Bertoncini, Anna Diamantopoulou, Ulrike Guerot and Daniel Innerarity. It was signed by over 200 intellectuals and personalities of different political orientations from 20 European countries. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euractiv.com\/section\/future-eu\/opinion\/time-for-the-united-states-of-europe\/\">https:\/\/www.euractiv.com\/section\/future-eu\/opinion\/time-for-the-united-states-of-europe\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, at that conference it looks like they got some of what they wanted:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>\u2018EU Empire\u2019 \u2013 Euro Conference Approves \u2018Joint Armed Forces\u2019, More Centralised Power for Brussels<\/h2>\n<p>May 1, 2022<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p class=\"subheading\">The Conference on the Future of Europe has approved measures calling for the establishment of a European Union army and centralising power in the hands of Brussels eurocrats on Saturday. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In a meeting in Strasbourg, France on Saturday, a plenary session of the Conference on the Future of Europe <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/en\/press-room\/20220429IPR28218\/future-of-europe-conference-plenary-ambitious-proposals-point-to-treaty-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">approved<\/a> over 300 proposals, including the establishment of a \u201cjoint armed forces\u201d of the European Union, as well as the empowering the European Parliament to propose its own legislation &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The globalist co-chairman of the Conference, former Belgian prime minister Guy Verhofstadt MEP,\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/multimedia.europarl.europa.eu\/en\/video\/pconference-on-the-future-of-europe---plenary-statements-by-citizens-part-1_I224013_01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">said<\/a> that the European Parliament will take up the measures next week for consideration in hopes of making them into law as \u201csoon as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no time to lose. The world of tomorrow is a world of empires,\u201d the europhile said. \u201cIt\u2019s a world of danger, we have seen it with Ukraine, and in this world we need to defend ourselves, to organise ourselves to defend the interests of our citizens, and therefore we need to reform the Union.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Verhofstadt, the European Parliament\u2019s chosen representative in Brexit talks, went on to say that the reforms are \u201cnecessary for our survival,\u201d warning that Europe will otherwise \u201cdisappear\u201d &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>However, others have claimed that the motions put forward by the Conference only serve to undermine the national sovereignty of member-states, in particular conservative nations with less sway in Brussels. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The formation of a fully-fledged European Union army was dismissed as a \u201cconspiracy theory\u201d by pro-European figures during the Brexit debates, with\u00a0then-Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg accusing Brexit leader Nigel Farage of peddling a \u201c<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-politics-26843996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">dangerous fantasy<\/a>\u201d by predicting the bloc would seek to form its own military. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>EU member-states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2017\/11\/13\/major-step-towards-eu-army-and-britain-may-be-sucked-in\/\">signed<\/a>\u00a0an agreement creating a\u00a0European Defence Fund and Permanent Structured Cooperation process (PESCO) in November 2017.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eeas.europa.eu\/eeas\/european-union-military-staff-20-years-contributing-european-defence-and-security_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">European Union Military Staff<\/a> had already existed in plain sight since 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Calls for an EU army have only increased since Brexit. In the wake of President Joe Biden\u2019s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, for example, EU\u00a0Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the bloc must build the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/16\/eu-chief-says-europe-must-build-political-will-for-an-eu-army\/\">political will<\/a>\u201d to create its own military force.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, would later argue that the failure of Afghanistan showed the urgency for the bloc to increase its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/09\/eu-to-pivot-towards-communist-china-after-bidens-afghan-blunder\/\">strategic autonomy<\/a>\u201c. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/05\/01\/eu-empire-joint-armed-forces-and-centralised-power-in-brussels-approved-by-future-of-europe-conference\/\">https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/05\/01\/eu-empire-joint-armed-forces-and-centralised-power-in-brussels-approved-by-future-of-europe-conference\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Europe is beginning to reorganize. Some fear loss of national sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p>Europe is prophesied to reorganize more and basically eliminate national sovereignty:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>12 &#8220;The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As far as a \u2018United States of Europe\u2019 goes, Church of God writers have warned about this coming since no later than 1948:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It was the SERMON that shot forth that spark, impregnating the minds of world leaders in attendance. This amazing sermon was delivered by a foremost radio speaker of the Catholic Church, Bishop Duane G. Hunt of Salt Lake City &#8230; Without the guidance, supervision, authority of the Catholic Church, he told these men, they were laboring in vain &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This was the Roman Catholic bid to resurrect the so-called \u201cHOLY ROMAN EMPIRE\u201d ! And PROPHECY says they will succeed! &#8230; At the psychological time, the pope will step in &#8230; Thru this political movement, he will UNIFY &#8230; nations in Europe. It will be a \u201cThe UNITED STATES OF EUROPE,\u201d but that probably will never become its official name. (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told&#8230;<em>The Plain Truth,<\/em> December 1948, pp. 2,5).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO Assyrian, the rod of MINE <em>anger<\/em>, and the staff in their hand is MINE <em>indignation<\/em>, I WILL SEND HIM against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath (rebellious Israel) will I give him a charge (command), to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and <em>to tread them down like the mire of the streets<\/em>\u201d (Isa. 10:5,6). Yes, God is going to take the nation of Germany as the head of a United Europe into his hand as a <em>club<\/em> to punish the nations of Israel for their rebellion against Him! Howbeit he meanth not so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart <em>to destroy<\/em> and cut off nations not a few\u201d (vs. 7). Germany, those living in Germany, even the German government, may not yet know that they are going to join in a treaty with the Russians to destroy the United States and bring it to its knees-it is not in his \u201cheart\u201d to think so, but on the other hand it IS in his \u201cheart\u201d to destroy-the very characteristic of the Assyrian, the modern German, is a <em>harsh, cruel, iron, dedication to militarism and destruction!<\/em> This is just the kind of nation God needs to use as a rod in His hand to punish His people!<\/p>\n<p>Does this then mean that the Germans at the head of a United Europe do have a spiritual mission to perform? Does this mean that they are <em>right<\/em> in claiming to be the \u201cDefenders of the West\u201d and the champions of Christianity!? No!<\/p>\n<p><strong>God\u2019s Destiny for Germany<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that it is God who will use Germany to destroy America, <em>Germany must be destroyed as well for HER rebellion against God<\/em>\u2014\u201cI will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. For he saith, by the strength of <em>my<\/em> hand I have done it, and by <em>my<\/em> wisdom; for I am prudent!\u201d (Is. 10:12,13)<\/p>\n<p>The leaders of a United Europe, when they succeed against the United States, will begin to think THEIR prudent planning, <em>THEIR wise ideas and THEIR powerful might<\/em> have made them successful! They will not realize that they have only been used as a <em>base<\/em> tool of destruction in the hand of the Almighty God! \u201cShall the axe boast itself against him that hews therewith? Or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the <em>rod<\/em> should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood\u201d (Isa. 10:15). God explains here that despite the fact that He has <em>used<\/em> Assyria to punish Israel, Assyria is <em>also <\/em>rebellious against His law and government, His way, and since it will magnify itself against the very God of creation, as Dan. 11: 36 and 37 explain, <em>GOD WILL HAVE TO PUNISH IT FOR THIS.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So <em>GOD<\/em> says, \u201cThe Lord of hosts has sworn. saying, Surely as <em>I have thought<\/em>, so SHALL IT COME TO PASS: and <em>as I have purposed<\/em>, so SHALL IT STAND; That I will <em>break the Assyrian in my land<\/em>, and upon my mountains TREAD HIM UNDER FOOT: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their (the Israelites) shoulders\u201d (Isa.14: 24,25). Just shortly before Jesus Christ Himself intervenes in this world\u2019s affairs. He will take another nation as a punishing club in His hands and <em>punish the proud Assyrians,<\/em> the modern Germans at the head of the <strong>United States of Europe<\/strong>. \u201cBehold, I will stir up the <em>Medes<\/em> against them, which shall nor regard silver; and as for gold they shall not delight in it \u2026 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. And Babylon (the modern resurrected and revived Roman Empire, dominated by a fascist Germany), the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees\u2019 excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah!\u201d (Is. 13: 17-19.) \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Since <em>God himself<\/em> has pronounced a curse on modern Israel, and is going to hand us over to the Assyrians, <em>it is evident that we CANNOT TRUST in the American way of life either!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nothing is left outside these three great systems and powers on earth, under man, except Anarchy!<\/p>\n<p><em>MAN\u2019S ONLY HOPE LIES IN TURNING TO HIS CREATOR GOD!<\/em> \u2026<\/p>\n<p>YOUR <em>only hope<\/em> as an individual is to turn to God-to the Living Creator who is working out events here below on this earth-<em>who is very concerned about <\/em>YOU, who promises you safety from these horrible times to come! Heed the warning given by Jeremiah! The only \u2018Way to escape these dire prophecies of God is by REPENTANCE- nationally or individually! (Hill DJ, God\u2019s Destiny for Germany. Plain Truth, March 1962, pp. 28-29)<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"t\">A \u201cUnited States of Europe\u201d possessing <em>one single currency<\/em> \u2014 a currency so strong that it will replace the U.S. dollar as the kingpin currency of world trade. A United Europe developing great military strength to protect its unprecedented standard of living and its Number One position in the world. (Hogberg G. <em>Rising World Colossus: <\/em>Ambassador College, 1971)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Much of Europe now does have a single currency.<\/p>\n<p>And more and more calls for a militarized United States of Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The Church of God has been right about this&#8211;as well as Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>Since last century, Church of God (COG) writers have long taught that the UK would not be part of the final Beast power that will arise in Europe. Notice some statements put out by the writers once part of the old Radio Church of God, old Worldwide Church of God, and\/or the current <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccog.org\"><em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> years before the Brexit vote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Here is Britain trying to GET IN on this uniting of Europe! \u2026 It is this same daughter of ancient Babylon who is to lay the YOKE of captivity and slavery on America and Britain. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Britain is allowing itself to get mixed in with European foreigners \u2026 When God brings Britain DOWN-the time of JACOBS\u2019 S TROUBLE -the only time when the DAUGHTER of Babylon will be sitting astride a united MILITARY EUROPE. \u2026 in prophecy, the NAME Jacob or the name Israel, often refers to the two great nations descended from Ephraim and Manasseh. Plain Truth, July 1962)<\/p>\n<p>The soon-coming resurrected \u201cHoly Roman Empire\u201d \u2013 a sort of soon-coming \u201cUnited States of Europe\u201d \u2013 a union of ten nations to rise up out of or following the Common Market of today. Everest House, 1978)<\/p>\n<p><em>Perhaps it should be mentioned that the general position within the Churches of God is that Britain will not remain in the EU and will pull out at some point.<\/em> (Thiel B. Church of God News, June 26, 2007. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/tony-blair-a-catholic-eu-leader\/\">http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/tony-blair-a-catholic-eu-leader\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>It should be understood that ultimately, Britain will NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power\u2013yet its former Prime Minister is promoting something that will not help the peoples of the UK. Tony Blair Calls for a Strong, Elected, EU President Church of God News, June 9, 2007. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/tony-blair-calls-for-a-strong-elected-eu-president\/\">http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/tony-blair-calls-for-a-strong-elected-eu-president\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Ephraim (modern Great Britain) will not be part of the \u201cBeast\u201d power, so we can expect some significant change that will push the British out of the EU. (Davis. D. Ireland says \u201cNo!\u201d to EU power grab. Commentary, July, 1 2008)<\/p>\n<p>The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will not be an equal part of the European Union. Britain will either pull out or be forced out or at least truly lose its sovereignty. Many of the Anglo-peoples of the UK, USA, etc. that are not killed will to be scattered and many will be made slaves (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/usa-canada-uk-australia-new-zealand-divided.htm\">Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?<\/a>). That is what the Bible shows will happen during the Great Tribulation.<\/p>\n<p>As far as this \u201cBeast King\u201d goes, he could possibly be the next EU president, but a restructure ultimately will be needed in Europe for the King of the North to have the type of power that the Bible indicate he will have (Revelation 17:12-13). The EU is not ready for that yet.<\/p>\n<p>However, Tony Blair\u2019s statements today are pointing to one more step towards certain biblical prophesies being fulfilled as he is realizing that the UK wants to pull out of the UK\u2013and that is something will happen (directly or indirectly).<\/p>\n<p>The final King of the North (Daniel 11:27-40) will take over the UK, USA, and their Anglo-allies according to Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39). While more people in the UK are starting to realize that the EU poses dangers to it, most have no idea how dangerous the rising Beast power in Europe will become (cf. Revelation 13:1-4; Daniel 11:39). Britain will ultimately NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power. (Thiel B. <a title=\"Permanent Link to Tony Blair \u2018Deeply Worried\u2019 that UK May Leave EU\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/prophecy\/tony-blair-deeply-worried-that-uk-may-leave-eu\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">Tony Blair \u2018Deeply Worried\u2019 that UK May Leave EU.<\/a> Church of God News, August 18, 2012)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice also the following:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-59843 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Tomorrows-World-1970-Vol-II-No-02-Feb01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>EU \u2026 Britain \u2026 <em>if<\/em> she does enter the European Economic Community (EEC), will she <em>remain<\/em> in this union? \u2026 Bible prophecy clearly shows that Britain will <em>not <\/em>be one of the \u2026 NATIONS comprising the <em>final <\/em>United States of Europe (McNair R. A Strong United Europe. Tomorrow\u2019s World, February 1970, p. 17).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Back in the early 1990s, when I was vice president of an irrigation equipment manufacturer and the EU was still called the European Economic Community, I told our British sales representative, who was visiting the factory in California, that one day the UK would separate from Europe. He flat out told me that could not possibly happen. And he gave his reasons, but they were not biblical ones\u2013I told him he was in error. The departure of the UK from the EU shows that those of us who understood biblical prophecies were correct on this.<\/p>\n<p>Many critics have claimed that there is no truth to the COG position that the Anglo-Americans (see <a href=\"http:\/\/cogwriter.com\/britishisrael.htm\">Anglo \u2013 America in Prophecy &amp; the Lost Tribes of Israel<\/a>) are descended from Israel\u2019s son Joseph (through his sons Ephraim and Manasseh).<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it is because of our understanding of that, COG writers have long taught that the UK would not be part of the final <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/europa.htm\">Beast<\/a> power. Essentially, COG writers predicted Brexit decades before the Brexit vote. Including myself about 30 years ago, and Raymond McNair over 50 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>What about Europe itself?<\/p>\n<p>The EU will have ups and downs.<\/p>\n<p>It will have financial strains because of Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it will build its military&#8211;and that is the goal of more and more<\/p>\n<p>Consider that in August 2011, Ursula von der Leyen said: \u201cMy aim is a united states of Europe, run along the lines of the federal states of Switzerland, Germany or the USA.\u201d (<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/politik\/deutschland\/schuldenkrise-von-der-leyen-fordert-die-vereinigten-staaten-von-europa-a-782879.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Spiegel interview<\/a>). She is now EU Commission President.<\/p>\n<p>She has long been a supporter of an independent EU army and more European integration.
