COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n Last night, the senate in New York state approved a law officially sanctioning homosexual marriage.<\/p>\n Voice of America\u00a0– \u200e25 June 201<\/p>\n AP The US state of New York has approved same-sex marriage, handing American gay rights advocates a major victory in their quest for equality…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n One of the pivotal Republicans, State Senator Stephen Saland, had voted against a similar bill two years ago, but on Friday pledged the deciding vote in favor the law. He called his change of heart “a vote of conscience” and said he was “doing the right thing.”<\/p>\n Gay couples in the legislative gallery wept as they listened to his speech.<\/p>\n In approving the law, the state joins Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Iowa and Washington, D.C. in allowing gay couples to marry.<\/p>\n The legislative debate coincided with President Barack Obama’s speech Thursday before a group of gay rights supporters at a campaign fundraising event in New York City.<\/p>\n Obama told the crowd that gay couples deserve the same legal rights as any other couple in this country, but he did not fully endorse same-sex marriage.\u00a0 The president has upset gay rights activists for his support of civil unions over marriage, but recently said his views on the matter are “evolving.”<\/p>\n Obama defended his administration’s record on gay rights, including repealing the ban on homosexuals serving in the military, and ordering the Justice Department to stop defending a law that narrowly defines marriage as that between a man and a woman.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n This action was supposedly part of\u00a0 “quest for equality”?\u00a0 It was even called “a vote of conscience”.<\/p>\n Is that how the Bible views it?<\/p>\n The Bible teaches that homosexuality is wrong and that homosexuality leads to destruction.<\/p>\n Notice some of what the New Testament teaches:<\/p>\n 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man \u2014 and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.<\/p>\n 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.<\/p>\n 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.<\/p>\n 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.\u00a0 (Romans 1:22-32)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice that the Bible says that those who approve of wrong practices deserve punishment just like those who have wrong practices.\u00a0 It also teaches:<\/p>\n 20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil…(Isaiah 5:20)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Homosexual acts are clearly condemned as an abomination in scripture:<\/p>\n 22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)<\/p>\n 13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. (Leviticus 20:13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice what happened to “equal” societies of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah:<\/p>\n 24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n And why did it happen?<\/p>\n 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah<\/strong>, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example<\/strong>, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Sexual immorality related to going after “strange flesh” is a biblical reference to same gender sexual relations.<\/p>\n Why mention what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah in the 21st century? Because God turned:<\/p>\n 6\u2026the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes<\/strong>, condemned them to destruction, making them an example<\/strong> to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Thus, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were to serve as an example to those who would live as they did.\u00a0 Apparently those in favor of the New York vote overlooked the risks that the Bible warns about.\u00a0 Do they not realize that equality with Sodom and Gomorrah is what they will end up with?<\/p>\n The Bible is clear that destruction like that which happened to Sodom and Gomorrah are likely to happen again to those who ignore the warnings:<\/p>\n 14 “I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone…19 and so it may not happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart’ \u2014 as though the drunkard could be included with the sober.\u00a0\u00a0 20 “The Lord would not spare him; for then the anger of the Lord and His jealousy would burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book would settle on him, and the Lord would blot out his name from under heaven…23 ‘The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and His wrath<\/strong>.’ 24 All nations would say, ‘Why has the Lord done so to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’ 25 Then people would say: ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers<\/strong>…(Deuteronomy 29:14, 19-20, 23-25)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Of course, the Bible teaches that homosexuals (and others) need to repent.\u00a0 Here is some of what the Apostle Paul <\/a>wrote:<\/p>\n 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.\u00a0 (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Repentance can help all individuals, whether homosexual or not.<\/p>\n The moral trends in the USA are not good as most of the sins the Apostle Paul listed seem to be increasing as well as seem to be getting wider acceptance.<\/p>\n Notice something that happened today:<\/p>\n ABC News\u00a0– 25 June 2011<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Many of the national leaders of the USA seem to be unwilling condemn what is happening, instead many endorse it.<\/p>\n Thousands of years ago, the Prophet Daniel was asked to interpret some handwriting that was written on a wall by only a hand that the king of the area personally witnessed (which is why he ultimately called Daniel to see it).\u00a0 The moral trend in that kingdom was not good according to Daniel (Daniel 5:22-23).\u00a0 After stating that, here is the interpretation that the prophet Daniel gave of that handwriting on the wall:<\/p>\n 24 Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.<\/p>\n 25 \u201cAnd this is the inscription that was written:<\/p>\n MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.<\/p>\n 26 This is the interpretation of each word. Mene: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 Tekel: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 Peres: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.\u201d\u00a0 (Daniel 5:24-28)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n That kingdom was taken over that very night (Daniel 5:30-31).<\/p>\n So, let us look at the words from the wall and apply them to the United States.<\/p>\n As I have written many times, I doubt that the USA will have national repentance, so it is on the way to destruction.\u00a0 But that does not preclude individual repentance.<\/p>\n Turning to God is the only answer. And this is something you can do –whether you are American or not. Even a report from the Congressional Budget Office this week warned that the USA is risking a “sudden fiscal crisis” that could have devastating consequences (see CBO Warns of \u2018Sudden\u2019 Debt Crisis<\/a>), and according to the Bible, the consequences will be even worse than the CBO imagined.<\/p>\n The trend towards the acceptance of homosexual marriage is one more sin in the USA that will contribute to its destruction.\u00a0 Can you see the handwriting on the wall?<\/p>\n Some articles of possibly related interest may include<\/em>:<\/p>\n Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?<\/a> Will the lands of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand be divided?
