Roderick Meredith of the Living Church of God <\/a>called for a Church-wide fast for today.<\/p>\n

Here is some of what he wrote:<\/p>\n

Many \u201clittle groups\u201d\u2014here and there\u2014have part<\/em> of the Truth and are doing a \u201clittle\u201d part of the Work. But where<\/em> is Christ primarily working and where<\/strong> are His eyes focused today on the Church He is using to prepare for the coming Kingdom of God? Most of you understand. But some of our people are confused and weak, and some are also discouraged that several of our brethren are becoming seriously ill with various forms of cancer, heart disease, etc.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So our Headquarters team unanimously agreed that we should call a Church-wide fast<\/strong> for the Sabbath of August the 4th! Please inform the brethren of this important fast, \u201cclear the decks\u201d of any Church activity which might interfere and encourage the brethren to do the same with their personal schedules.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fellow servants of Christ, let us all<\/strong> look forward to unitedly humbling ourselves and to fasting<\/strong> before our God. Let us beseech <\/em>Him for increased spiritual discernment and strength, for His special blessing on the vital Work He is using us to perform, and for His divine intervention<\/em> to heal <\/strong>those who are seriously ill among us.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As we prepare ourselves and our brethren for this fast<\/strong>, let us meditate on God\u2019s promise as given in 2 Chronicles 7:14, \u201cIf My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brethren let us truly go \u201call out\u201d to prepare ourselves and our brethren to draw very close<\/em> to God in the months and years ahead. As events speed up, those who have real spiritual discernment realize that time truly is short!<\/em> So let us use every opportunity<\/em> to walk ever more closely with Christ and with God as the end of this age approaches.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On the internet, I noticed that he was criticized for this at one of the anti-COG sites. In the past, even some who claim to be in one of the COGs have criticized LCG for having church-wide fasts for miracles such as healing and getting closer to God.<\/p>\n

The criticism from those who claim to be in the COG has somewhat amazed me as the Bible itself teaches:<\/p>\n

6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
\nTo loose the bonds of wickedness,
\nTo undo the heavy burdens,
\nTo let the oppressed go free,
\nAnd that you break every yoke?
\n7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
\nAnd that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
\nWhen you see the naked, that you cover him,
\nAnd not hide yourself from your own flesh?
\n8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
\nYour healing shall spring forth speedily<\/strong>,
\nAnd your righteousness shall go before you;
\nThe glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
\n9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer<\/strong>;
\nYou shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ (Isaiah 58:6-9, NKJV).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But there are factions,\u00a0Paul taught (1 Corinthians 11:19)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
