Ecumenism continues to be promoted by those claiming the ‘Christianity’ of the world. Some see the need of “unity” as an emergency. The Protestant publication calling itself Christianity Today<\/em> reported the following:<\/p>\n

Global Church is experiencing an ‘ecumenical emergency’<\/h2>\n

A Catholic leader has warned Anglican bishops meeting in Canterbury that divisions between Christians have become an “emergency” in urgent need of addressing.<\/p>\n

In a message to the Lambeth Conference, Cardinal Kurt Koch, the Roman Catholic Church’s ecumenical lead, said that despite decades of progress in improving relations, urgent steps must be taken to foster greater unity between Christians.<\/p>\n

“This ecumenical emergency implies that a sincere and thus common ecumenical witness to Jesus Christ in the present world is only possible when the Christian churches overcome their divisions and can live in unity in reconciled diversity,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Ecumenism and mission belong inseparably together since that is the only way in which God\u00b4s Church really is for God’s World.”<\/p>\n

Speaking before a plenary on unity, the Venerable Will Adam, the Anglican Communion’s former Director of Unity, Faith and Order, said that divisions were wounding the body of Christ. https:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/global.church.is.experiencing.an.ecumenical.emergency\/139031.htm<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The true “emergency” is NOT lack of ecumenical urgency, but a failure to have a real “the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2 Thessalonians 2:10) as well as a failure “to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).<\/p>\n

Anglican and other Protestant scholars must realize that their churches do NOT hold to sola Scriptura<\/em>, that the there was no faithful early church that resembled modern Protestantism, and that they have adopted many of the changes and traditions of the Church of Rome. The Roman Catholic press, via the Catholic News Agency<\/em>, reported that Anglican Archbishop Welby made positive comments about Anglican views of the pope:<\/p>\n

In ecumenical discussions at the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury, England, Justin Welby, archbishop of Canterbury, has said that most Anglicans recognize the pope as \u201cthe father of the Church in the West.\u201d …<\/p>\n

Addressing the conference, Cardinal Kurt Koch, prefect for the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, stressed the urgency of ecumenical dialogue. Koch called the present state of division an \u201cemergency\u201d<\/a> in the Church.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Tablet<\/a>, Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham Bernard Longley noted the ability of the conference to cement the unity of the Anglican Communion. …<\/p>\n

The 2022 Lambeth Conference<\/a> runs from July 26 until Aug. 8. Jesus warned people not to call religious leaders “father” (Matthew 23:9), but the Roman Catholics and apparently many Anglicans consider the Bishop of Rome as their religious father.<\/p>\n

Archbishop Welby has long had ecumenical leanings. Back in 2015, he and the Eastern Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew put out a joint communique:<\/p>\n

The Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Canterbury, as spiritual leader of the 80-million strong Anglican Communion made a joint statement between Anglican and Orthodox Churches\u00a0on the theology of the human person.<\/p>\n

In a joint communiqu\u00e9, the two leaders said that the agreement “celebrates what Anglicans and Orthodox affirm together about the human person, created in ‘the Image and Likeness of God.'”<\/p>\n

They said it, “will form the theological foundation for forthcoming discussions on the practical consequences of these theological presuppositions for addressing the key themes, including the protection of the environment, medical interventions, and questions around family life and ethics.”<\/p>\n

The statement concluded six years of study on “what Anglicans and Orthodox can say together about the meaning of human personhood in the divine image,” the International Commission for Anglican-Orthodox Theological Dialogue said when they agreed on the final text in September. 11\/06\/2015\u00a0 http:\/\/www.ecumenicalnews.com\/article\/climate-change-action-needs-both-science-and-faith-says-ecumenical-patriarch-35518<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The above shows that the Eastern Orthodox and the Church of England had been working together for some time, even before 2015, to see how they could find areas of agreement to promote.<\/p>\n

The ecumenical and inter-faith movements are moving ahead, yet they WILL NOT RESULT IN A REAL AND LASTING PEACE.<\/p>\n

The Bible does not teach that Christians are to ignore biblical reality and pray that they are to be moved into the type of unity that Pope Francis, Patriarch Bartholomew, and Archbishop Welby want. Those groups do NOT truly believe the following:<\/p>\n
