LISBON, July 12 (Reuters) – European Council President Herman Van Rompuy<\/strong> said on Tuesday there is a commitment at the highest levels in Europe to do whatever is necessary to safeguard stability in the euro zone. “”Let me be very clear, there is the highest commitment at the highest level to do whatever is necessary to safeguard financial stability,” Van Rompuy told reporters during a visit to Lisbon.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The reason that I posted about this is that, because of fiscal problems in Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain (PIIGS), I have seen many reports that state that the Euro will go away.\u00a0 And while that may be possible, I believe it is still premature to consider that it will be gone (but it is biblically true that the EU will appear fragile per Daniel 2:42-43 and will ultimately reorganize per Revelation 17:13).<\/p>\n

As long-time readers of this page are aware, I have (since the month of his election to becoming the first permanent president of the EU) wondered if Herman Van Rompuy may fulfill the following scripture:<\/p>\n

20 \u201cThere shall arise in his place one who imposes taxes on the glorious kingdom; but within a few days he shall be destroyed, but not in anger or in battle. (Daniel 11:20)<\/p>\n

EU President Herman Van Rompuy has gone on record supporting some type of tax for the EU in the past (see EU Tax Proposed<\/a> and EU\u2019s Van Rompuy Proposes Tax Increase, But\u2026<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It would not surprise me if he backs some type of tax to support the Euro or other aspects of the European Union (like its military).\u00a0\u00a0 So, if Herman Van Rompuy is involved in raising taxes and dies shortly thereafter, he would seem to be a candidate for this role in Daniel 11:20.<\/p>\n

Thus far, the Europeans have taken a more cautious approach to their debt problems that the USA. Tax issues, as well as real spending cuts, are ones that the Europeans seem to be looking at more seriously than the American political leaders in Washington seem to be willing to do.<\/p>\n

Time may be getting short (which is one reason why the Euro may make it and not be replaced).\u00a0 And if various taxes are raised for the European Union, this may signal how close we may be to the rising up of the final King of the North, and also the Antichrist<\/a>.<\/p>\n
