Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg: Will he be the new star in the RTL sky?<\/h2>\n

Karl-Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Buhl-Freiherr von und zu\u00a0Gutenberg<\/a> (50) is back.<\/p>\n

The ex-politician, often only abbreviated to KT, was Federal Minister of Economics, then Defense Minister and a great supporter of the CSU. And he was by far the most popular politician. Many Germans would have liked to see him in the Federal Chancellery right away. But then came an unprecedented political crash\u2026<\/p>\n

But now he\u2019s coming back. The largest German private broadcaster RTL announced at the end of September: Thomas Gottschalk (72) and\u00a0Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg<\/a>\u00a0(50) take over the annual review \u201cPeople, Pictures, Emotions\u201d from the outgoing moderator G\u00fcnther Jauch (66). The show will be broadcast on RTL on December 11 at 8:15 p.m. and focuses on the most important stories and events of the past year \u2013 with the people who made them special.<\/p>\n

For the former politician, this TV appearance is just part of a deal. Guttenberg is currently working on two docutainment programs for the streaming service\u00a0RTL<\/a>+. He will present the first documentary in November. There he takes on the power politics of\u00a0Russian<\/a>\u00a0President Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s a doctor again now. …<\/p>\n

Will he be a good moderator?<\/p>\n

Now a new attempt at RTL. It\u2019s the long-awaited comeback of a 50-year-old who for the past few years has felt like his future is already behind him. Or is it the birth of a new media star? \u201cNo doubt,\u201d writes the \u201cS\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung\u201d, Guttenberg is \u201ccharming, and he can speak beautifully. When it comes to \u2018speak beautifully\u2019, it\u2019s not so much what you say that matters as how you say it. That\u2019s important on television .\u201d<\/p>\n

KT can do that.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

Ex-politician with entertainment qualities<\/p>\n

He can also dish out, with plastic language that resonates with the audience. Regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page will recall that there was a post here last June related to the RTL connection (see Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg: The Next \u2018Donald Trump\u2019?<\/a>).<\/p>\n

If KT does become “the new star in the RTL sky” this would improve his image and increase his popularity.<\/p>\n

Could Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg be laying a media foundation that he may later build upon?<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

Herr Guttenberg was disgraced by a plagiarism scandal and resigned his position as Germany’s Defense Minister back in 2011.<\/p>\n

He has sometimes been made fun of in the German press since then.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the Bible tells about a leader who was once disgraced that prophesied to rise up:<\/p>\n

21 And there shall stand up in his place one despised, and the kingly honour shall not be given him: and he shall come privately, and shall obtain the kingdom by fraud. (Daniel 11:21, Douay-Rheims)<\/p>\n

Now having the opportunity to reach a lot of people on a regular basis, Herr Guttenberg looks like he is placing himself in a position to at least partially restore his reputation.<\/p>\n

And, he may rise up more than almost anyone thinks he could.<\/p>\n
