By that, I mean a regional and temporary interruption in the power supply. <strong>The cause will not only be energy shortages, but also the targeted, temporary shutdown of the networks by the operators<\/strong>, with the aim of protecting the networks and not endangering the overall supply,&#8221; Tiesler told the news outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/politik\/deutschland\/plus242204899\/Katastrophenschutz-Davon-ausgehen-dass-es-im-Winter-Blackouts-geben-wird.html\"><em>Welt am Sonntag<\/em><\/a> &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We expect short-term blackouts rather than long-lasting, large-scale blackouts. <strong>But good preparation is important for that, too,<\/strong>&#8221; Tiesler added.<\/p>\n<p>What to do? <strong>Stock up&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Primarily water, several crates, and canned food. <strong>That would be enough for ten days.<\/strong> That&#8217;s what my agency recommends\u2026 Our message is: prepare in the first place. <strong>Be prepared for possible crises, don&#8217;t assume that everything will be readily available all the time<\/strong>,&#8221; Tiesler stated, adding that residents should also purchase <strong>battery-powered radios and candles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s energy woes stem from a drop in gas supplies from Russia, after an ill-advised scheme to shut off their nuclear power plants. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/german-official-recommends-stockpiling-several-crates-water-canned-food-winter\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/german-official-recommends-stockpiling-several-crates-water-canned-food-winter<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, there are power blackouts and other possible problems that Germans (and others) are facing.<\/p>\n<p>Should Christians heed such warnings?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it is also wise to take physical steps:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>6 Go to the ant, you sluggard!<br \/>\nConsider her ways and be wise,<br \/>\n7 Which, having no captain,<br \/>\nOverseer or ruler,<br \/>\n8 Provides her supplies in the summer,<br \/>\nAnd gathers her food in the harvest.<br \/>\n9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard?<br \/>\nWhen will you rise from your sleep?<br \/>\n10 A little sleep, a little slumber,<br \/>\nA little folding of the hands to sleep \u2014<br \/>\n11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,<br \/>\nAnd your need like an armed man. (Proverbs 6:6-11).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All who can afford it should, just for emergencies, have a week or two worth of food and water in case of emergencies and supply cutoffs. God\u2019s statement about ants is intended to tell us to take proper physical steps. See also, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/ynow.htm\">Physical Preparation Scriptures for Christians<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But it is not just physical matters we are to be concerned about.<\/p>\n<p>For example, there is a \u201cwrath to come\u201d and Christians should flee from it (Matthew 3:7).<\/p>\n<p>So, what should be done now?<\/p>\n<p>God inspired the Prophet Zephaniah to write the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1 Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O undesirable nation, (Zephaniah 2:1)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although it has certain misunderstandings, the Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown Commentary realized that the gathering together was intended for a religious group or assembly:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Zephaniah 2:1<\/p>\n<p>Gather yourselves together \u2013 to a religious assembly, to avert the judgment by prayers, (Joel 2:16, \u201cGather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders,\u201d etc.) (from Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown Commentary, Electronic Database. Copyright \u00a9 1997, 2003, 2005, 2006 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When are they to gather together?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>2 Before the decree is issued, Or the day passes like chaff, Before the Lord\u2019s fierce anger comes upon you, Before the day of the Lord\u2019s anger comes upon you! (Zephaniah 2:2)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The gathering is to take place well before the day of the Lord (which happens about 2 1\/2 years after the Great Tribulation of Matthew 24:21 begins) and before some type of decree is issued.<\/p>\n<p>Who does God want to gather together?<\/p>\n<p>The end time Christians. Notice what Jesus stated and something the Apostle Peter wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (John 15:19, NKJV)<\/p>\n<p>9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10, KJV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is a peculiar people. These are people who the world does not desire. These are Philadelphian Christians.<\/p>\n<p>How do we know that Zephaniah 2:1-3 is related to Christians? Because the decree is for the end time and because of what else God inspired Zephaniah to write:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. (Zephaniah 2:3a)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The above is a reference to Christians as they are to be the \u201cmeek of the earth\u201d (Matthew 5:5) and to Philadelphians who \u201chave upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility.\u201d These are Philadelphian Christians who understand that church leaders need to have integrity and be willing to be humble enough to accept the authority of a church led by a low-level prophet in the absence of a clear apostle (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11-15). They are humble enough to not think that they should remain \u2018independent,\u2019 as many who once were part of the old Worldwide Church of God, during this Laodicean time, have done.<\/p>\n<p>Why does God tell them they may wish to be gathered together? So:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>3\u2026It may be that you will be hidden In the day of the Lord\u2019s anger. (Zephaniah 2:3b)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interestingly, the Hebrew words translated as Zephaniah means \u201cYahweh Hides\u201d or \u201cYahweh Has Hidden\u201d (Holy Bible: Vine\u2019s Expository Reference Edition, p. 826).<\/p>\n<p>Why have I written that Zephaniah 2:1-3 has to do with Philadelphian Christians?<\/p>\n<p>For they are the only ones who will actually \u2018gather together\u2019 as they should.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Because it is they who will lead the final phase of the work. Notice a work that must be done before the end can come:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Remember, Jesus said;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>25 \u201cTherefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?<\/p>\n<p>28 \u201cSo why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?<\/p>\n<p>31 \u201cTherefore do not worry, saying, \u2018What shall we eat?\u2019 or \u2018What shall we drink?\u2019 or \u2018What shall we wear?\u2019 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:25-34)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, while we should take physical steps, put your focus on the coming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/GospeloftheKingdomofGod.pdf\">Kingdom of God<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If we take the proper spiritual steps, Jesus is promising that God will take care of us physically.<\/p>\n<p>But even most real Christians will not.<\/p>\n<p>It is only to the Philadelphians that Jesus promises to protect from the coming hour of trial, also referred to as the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>7 \u201cAnd to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018These things says He who is holy, He who is true, \u201cHe who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens\u201d: 8 \u201cI know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie \u2014 indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.<\/p>\n<p>13 \u201cHe who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.\u201d\u2018 (Revelation 3:7-13)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice that the Philadelphians are doing the work of God, have kept God\u2019s word, have not denied Christ\u2019s name\/authority, and are persevering in the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, other churches around at the end, such as the remnants of Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) and Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6) are not promised that protection. Nor are the many Laodiceans (Revelation 3:14-22)\u2013even if they are somehow gathered together\u2013as they have gathered together in places that Jesus did not wish them to.<\/p>\n<p>Are not all real Christians going to be protected?<\/p>\n<p>No. The Book of Revelation is clear that after the Philadelphians are persecuted (cf. Daniel 7:25a; 11:29-36), they will flee to a place of protection, while the rest of the true Christians will not flee and then be subject to severe persecution:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:13-17)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What kind of decree will be issued?<\/p>\n<p>A decree that may allow those who are gathered together and who listen to it an opportunity to be protected (Zephaniah 2:1-3). A decree that the Philadelphians will listen to and flee.<\/p>\n<p>When is a decree to be issued? After an event that Jesus told of that He tied to the writings of the Prophet Daniel:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>15 \u201cTherefore when you see the \u2018abomination of desolation,\u2019 spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place\u201d (whoever reads, let him understand), (Matthew 24:15)<\/p>\n<p>14 \u201cSo when you see the \u2018abomination of desolation,\u2019 spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not\u201d (let the reader understand), (Mark 13:14a)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What did Jesus say happens next?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>16 \u201cthen let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:16-21)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice also:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>5 Declare in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlow the trumpet in the land;<br \/>\nCry, \u2018Gather together,\u2019<br \/>\nAnd say, \u2018Assemble yourselves,<br \/>\nAnd let us go into the fortified cities.\u2019<br \/>\n6 Set up the standard toward Zion.<br \/>\nTake refuge! Do not delay!<br \/>\nFor I will bring disaster from the north,<br \/>\nAnd great destruction.\u201d (Jeremiah 4:5-6)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The decree to \u2018gather together\u2019 will be repeated in the area of Judah just before the time of great destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Why a decree?<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, to make it easier for people who read what Jesus said to be better able to understand that Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 and Daniel 9:27b and Daniel 11:31 had been fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>By whom will the decree be made?<\/p>\n<p>The Bible says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>7 Surely the Lord God does nothing,<br \/>\nUnless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.<br \/>\n8 A lion has roared!<br \/>\nWho will not fear?<br \/>\nThe Lord God has spoken!<br \/>\nWho can but prophesy? (Amos 3:7-8)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The prophet may make the decree personally and\/or pass it on to another authority in the church to make.<\/p>\n<p>Which is the only Church of God in the 21st century to teach all of this?<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God.<\/p>\n<p>If you are not with the group that is leading the final phase of the work will you really be able to flee if you wait until the last moment? While that may be remotely possible for some, remember that God inspired Zephaniah to admonish God\u2019s people to \u2018gather together\u2026before the decree is issued.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Most will discount this and many will scoff. Most COGs do not have any they consider to be a prophet, and those other than the CCOG who claim to, have prophets that have been proven to be false (e.g. PCG, CGPFKG, TPM).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, I read a post sometime back from a CCOG scoffer who picked at the very idea that one should suggest that a COG is Philadelphian and those part of such a COG will have to be subject to being protected in a place of safety.<\/p>\n<p>He and many others do not realize how important Jesus taught paying attention to world events and prophecy is. Notice something Jesus taught:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming \u2014 in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning \u2014 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:33-37)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice Jesus said to watch and pray. He was referring to prophetic matters. THIS CAME FROM JESUS, BUT MANY SCOFF AT PROPHECY for differing reasons (cf. 2 Peter 3:1-7)\u2013yet being a prophetic scoffer is a mistake (cf. 2 Peter 3:8-9).<\/p>\n<p>God uses prophecy as a motivator for people. Remember that God used Jonah to warn Nineveh (Jonah 3:1-4) and they repented (Jonah 3:5-9), and they did not get the punishment they were going to get then (Jonah 3:10).<\/p>\n<p>Jesus specifically told the Laodiceans, in a prophecy, that they needed to repent (Revelation 3:19) or face consequences (Revelation 3:14-19, and that they would be rewarded for doing so (Revelation 3:20). The Laodiceans are Church of God Christians \u201cwho keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ\u201d (Revelation 12:17).<\/p>\n<p>We in the <em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God \u201chave also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts\u201d (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Should we not be \u201cexhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching\u201d (Hebrews 10:25)?<\/p>\n<p>Jesus warned:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty (Matthew 13:22-23).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And until some have too little, they will not seek first the kingdom of God. And will not support the work that God wants done in this age\u2013many seem to\u00a0be too satisfied and focused on themselves to have the type of work God expects.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus also warned:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>14 \u201cAnd to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 \u201cI know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, \u2018I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing\u2019\u2013and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked\u2013 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent (Revelation 3:14-19).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And sadly, even though Jesus gave these warnings, many still have trouble being faithful. Many do not have a personal zeal for the work.<\/p>\n<p>But they need to repent and gather together before the end (Zephaniah 2:1-3) if they would like to possibly be protected during the tribulation.<\/p>\n<p>People who hope that they do not have to gather together now\u00a0and hope to join in at the end for personal protection will not be protected (Luke 17:33).<\/p>\n<p>Those once part of the old WCG need to remember that the Church correctly used to teach:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Philadelphia has little strength to do this great work that God has given it to do. God has opened the door, and yet look how insignificant, how weak, how little strength we as a Church have to do that work\u2026Revelation 3:7-13: \u201cAnd to the angel of the Church in Philadelphia write these things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that OPENETH, and no man SHUTTETH; and SHUTTETH and no man openeth.\u201d The great door that God has opened to this work is the facility to go into all the world and preach the gospel; the door of radio, the door of the printing press, plus many other such doors. God has set before us an open door and no MAN can shut it. <strong>God can shut it, and He will when the work is finished and the Philadelphia Church goes to a place of safety<\/strong>. \u2026The Laodicean Church is not going to he worthy to escape to a place of safety. When it is too late, they will find that the Church of Philadelphia has gone to safety (What Is the \u201cLAODICEAN CHURCH\u201d? Good News August 1959 Vol. VIII, Number 8).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice what Herbert W. Armstrong taught:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Next, when our Great Commission is in God\u2019s sight completed, we are to be taken\u2013symbolically flown on the two wings of a great eagle\u2013we shall be taken to a place of protection from the Great Tribulation (Armstrong HW. Looking\u2026PASTOR GENERAL\u2019S REPORT \u2013 VOL.3, NO.4 January 23, 1981).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And that still is true today. We who think that we part of the true Church need to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccog.org\"><em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> as it seeks to fulfill that Great Commission of proclaiming the true gospel and to teach people in all nations to obey the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20).<\/p>\n<p>The solution to what is coming is to be preparing spiritually&#8211;but that does not mean to ignore the physical.<\/p>\n<p>We in the <em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God boldly teach the need for Philadelphians to be \u2018gathering together\u2019 today to support the work of proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Will you heed God\u2019s instructions as the Prophet Zephaniah was inspired to write? Would you possibly like to be protected?
