Energy released from solar plasma blasts will reach Earth throughout Friday and Saturday, potentially disrupting communications<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and electrical grids, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The explosion on the sun\u2019s surface could affect precision satellite systems such as GPS<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and high-frequency radio waves, which airlines use for communication.<\/p>\n

\u201cHigh-precision GPS navigation systems may not work as well today,\u201d said Joseph Kunches, a space scientist for the NOAA\u2019s Space Weather Prediction Center.\u00a0 http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0811\/60756.html<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
