Most commodities are also priced and traded in U.S. dollars.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But since the Federal Reserve embarked on a journey of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2023\/02\/22\/the-fed-has-had-the-most-aggressive-rate-hike-cycle-in-40-years-former-fed-vice-chair-richard-clarida.html\">aggressive rate hikes<\/a>\u00a0to fight domestic inflation, many central banks around the world have raised interest rates to stem capital outflows and a sharp depreciation of their own currencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy diversifying their holdings reserves into a more multi-currency sort of portfolio, perhaps they can reduce that pressure on their external sectors,\u201d said Cedric Chehab from Fitch Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>To be clear, the U.S. dollar remains dominant in global forex reserves even though its share in central banks\u2019 foreign exchange reserves has dropped from more than 70% in 1999,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/Blogs\/Articles\/2021\/05\/05\/blog-us-dollar-share-of-global-foreign-exchange-reserves-drops-to-25-year-low\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IMF data<\/a> shows. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/04\/24\/economic-and-political-factors-behind-acceleration-of-de-dollarization.htm\">https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/04\/24\/economic-and-political-factors-behind-acceleration-of-de-dollarization.htm<\/a>l<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While the dethroning of the USA dollar clearly has not fully happened yet (see chart in tweet above), <em>ZeroHedge<\/em> posted the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div id=\"article-info-title\">\n<h2 class=\"ArticleFull_title__FDrpw\">It&#8217;s A &#8220;Defund-The-Global-Police&#8221; Moment, Jen Says De-Dollarization Is Happening At A &#8220;Stunning&#8221; Pace<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p>April 24, 2023<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Jen &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurizonsljcapital.com\/dollar-smile\/\">infamous for his coining of the &#8216;dollar smile&#8217; while at Morgan Stanley<\/a>\u00a0which posits that the US Dollar tends to do well when the economy is soaring or slumping &#8211; recently quantified just how rapidly the de-dollarization is ocurring.<\/p>\n<p>Jen,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurizonsljcapital.com\/\">who now runs money at Eurizon SLJ<\/a>, warned in a recent briefing note, that\u00a0<strong>the dollar is losing its reserve status at a faster pace than generally accepted,<\/strong>\u00a0as many analysts have failed to account for last year\u2019s frantic swings in exchange rates.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe\u00a0<strong>dollar suffered a stunning collapse in 2022<\/strong>\u00a0in its market share as a reserve currency, presumably due to its muscular use of sanctions,\u201d Jen and his colleague Joana Freire wrote.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cExceptional actions taken by the US and its allies against Russia have startled large reserve-holding countries,\u201d most of which are emerging economies from the so-called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-04-18\/g-7-vows-to-back-ukraine-indefinitely-seeks-stable-china-ties\">Global South<\/a>, they said.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/72c27c26-f1d6-4a4b-be50-d6bf70c3546f\">As The FT reports<\/a>, Jen estimates that if you adjust for price changes the dollar\u2019s share of official global reserve currencies has gone from about 73 per cent in 2001 to around 55 per cent in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Then, last year, it fell to 47 percent of total global reserves. &#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jen and Freire go on to ominously explain that\u00a0<strong>the USD is losing its market share as a reserve currency at a much faster rate than is commonly believed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;After steady declines in its global market share for the past two decades, in 2022 the dollar lost market share at a pace 10 times as rapidly. Analysts have failed to detect this big change because they calculate the nominal value of the world\u2019s central banks\u2019 dollar holdings without considering the changes in the price of the dollar. Adjusting for these price changes, the dollar, we calculate, has lost some 11 percent of its market share since 2016 and double that amount since 2008.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>This erosion in the USD\u2019s reserve currency status has accelerated precipitously since the start of the war in Ukraine.<\/strong>\u00a0Exceptional actions taken by the US and its allies against Russia have startled large reserve-holding countries, most of which are from the Global South.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8230;Without the need for us to take sides in this debate on Ukraine, it seems reasonable to speculate that the main driver of the collapse in USD\u2019s reserve status in 2022 may have reflected a panicked reaction to property rights being jeopardised.\u00a0<strong>What we witnessed in 2022 was sort of a \u2018defund-the-global-police\u2019 moment, whereby many reserve managers in the world disagreed with the conduct of both Russia and the US<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>This is suddenly serious, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/its-defund-global-police-moment-jen-says-de-dollarization-happening-stunning-pace\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/its-defund-global-police-moment-jen-says-de-dollarization-happening-stunning-pace<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The world is in the process of dethroning the US dollar. This will make the country much poorer, <a href=\"https:\/\/mises.org\/wire\/what-has-qe-wrought\">https:\/\/mises.org\/wire\/what-has-qe-wrought<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The debt situation has worsened greatly since he penned that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style4\">Notice also the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"style4\">What happens to the US economy if the Dollar is no longer the reserve currency of the world?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"style4\">If US T-bills lose their attraction as reserve investments \u2026 it would get harder for the Treasury to sell more of them, requiring higher interest rates to be paid and potentially forcing austerity measures on the US government or triggering classic deficit spending inflation (\u201cprinting money\u201d to pay for government, this doesn\u2019t happen now because the deficit is financed through sales of those bonds at extremely low interest rates).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style4\">If foreign central banks and governments start exchanging their US dollars for some other currency or currencies, then the value of the dollar in international trade drops, it becomes more expensive to buy imported goods in the US and more profitable to sell exported goods from the US. The USA is the most highly indebted nation of all time. The USA has been essentially on a borrowing binge the last four decades and its economy is now dependent upon borrowing. The Bible paints an even worse scenario that in the time of the end (Habakkuk 2:2-3) the highly-indebted will be taken over (Habakkuk 2:2:6-8) and destroyed (Daniel 11:39; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/usa-strongest-fortresses.htm\">USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Here is something related to debt and the US dollar being the primary reserve currency from my book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/1641060972\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1610633009&amp;sr=8-1\">Biden-Harris: Prophecies and Destruction<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Joe Biden and many other American politicians have not run away from increasing U.S.A. debt\u2014that will be to the nation\u2019s peril.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible warns about something that will happen to a heavily indebted nation. Notice what the Hebrew seer\u00a0Habakkuk\u00a0wrote over 2,600 years ago:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><sup>3<\/sup> For the vision is yet for an <strong>appointed time<\/strong><strong>; But at the end<\/strong> it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because <strong>it will surely come<\/strong>, It will not tarry &#8230; <sup>5<\/sup> Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man \u2026<sup> 6 <\/sup>\u201cWill not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, \u2018Woe to him who increases What is not his\u2014how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges\u2019? <sup>7 <\/sup><strong>Will not your creditors rise up suddenly?<\/strong> Will they not awaken who oppress you? <strong>And you will become their booty. <\/strong><sup>8<\/sup> Because you have plundered many nations, <strong>All the remnant of the people shall plunder you\u2026 <\/strong>(Habakkuk\u00a02:2-3,6\u20138).<\/p>\n<p>Notice that what is to happen is so bad, that people who read the prophecy should run, when it is time for it to be fulfilled. Since that prophecy is to be fulfilled at the appointed time of the end, it is still for the future, but perhaps not too far distant in the future. No nation has ever been in as much total debt as the U.S.A.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cU.S. is highly vulnerable to loss of confidence by foreign creditors.\u201d<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a> U.S. government debt is \u201cextremely vulnerable to foreign attack because of the high percentage of foreign ownership \u2014 almost 40% of the market.\u201d<a href=\"#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, in the past, one foreign creditor, China, has raised concerns about the U.S. debt that are so serious, that its potential dumping of that debt has been called China\u2019s \u201cnuclear option\u201d<a href=\"#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[iii]<\/a> against the U.S.A.\u2014an option that involves no military intervention, but that could greatly harm the U.S.A.<\/p>\n<p>Others have been concerned that Russia will perhaps encourage something like this when the timing is right. European leaders have been working for years to establish a new reserve currency for the world, partially with the intent to remove the U.S. dollar from its position as the world\u2019s primary reserve currency.<\/p>\n<p>Those in Iran and some of the Arab lands, along with nations such as Brazil and India have discussed plans for the removal of the dominance of the U.S.A. in global trade as well. The former President of Brazil, Lula, even claimed that eliminating the U.S. dollar\u2019s reserve currency status was one of the reasons that the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) was formed.\u00a0 <a href=\"#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\">[iv]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bible clearly warns against cheapening the money supply and encourages having money hold its value (Proverbs 25:4 Isaiah 1:25, Ezekiel 22:18-22). Yet policies enacted under the Obama and Trump Administrations, following certain other administrations, have ignored these warnings.<\/p>\n<p>No nation in the history of humankind has ever accumulated as much debt as the United States of America\u00a0(because the U.K. may have close to the highest amount of per capita debt,<a href=\"#_edn5\" name=\"_ednref5\">[v]<\/a> its fate would be similar). Destruction is coming.<\/p>\n<p>However, the relationship between debt accumulation and prophesied destruction remains unapparent to many. Because there is a time lag, many ignore that there will be real consequences (cf. Ecclesiastes 8:11; Habakkuk 2:3,6-8). Yet, these increases of debt are utterly dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>When the time comes when the Federal Reserve is no longer able to keep interest rates artificially low, the U.S.A. will continue past the point of no return. That will become one of the final factors that will cause creditors to rise up and destroy the U.S.A.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While pushing biblically immoral ideas is bad for the economy, it should be noted that economies vary. A modern reality is that being the world\u2019s <em>de facto <\/em>reserve currency has helped prolong the U.S.A.\u2019s dominance.<\/p>\n<p>When the U.S. dollar is no longer the world\u2019s reserve currency, this will hurt the U.S.A. financially. Increasing debt, including \u201cquantitative easing,\u201d is a form of dishonest profits that is not something that God approves of and will punish the U.S.A. for (cf. Ezekiel 22:13-16).<\/p>\n<p>Inflation will eventually hit the U.S.A. extremely hard. As the world becomes less attached to the American dollar, many financial jobs and opportunities will be in places other than the U.S.A. Eventually, but not yet, the U.S.A. dollar will become worthless (worth no more than the scrap or sentimental value of the cotton-paper it is printed on).<\/p>\n<p>Will it always be straight downhill for the economy of the U.S.A.?<\/p>\n<p>No.<\/p>\n<p>There are some reasons to have some temporary optimism. The longer there is some economic stagnation in parts of the economy that governmental COVID-19 policies contributed to, the more demand tends to build up, and an increase in demand may prolong the economy. In addition, technological and other developments may temporarily support the U.S. economy\u2014as can reductions of regulatory burdens.<\/p>\n<p>Some policies of the Biden-Harris Administration may help. Others see problems. The Biden-Harris team looks to increase various regulations and impact some industries negatively (such as the fossil fuel industry). Various ones see their proposed policies and cabinet selections as a refreshing change that they hope will fuel economic growth and shared prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>Notice what was told to a king whose was prophesied to lose his kingdom:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><sup>27<\/sup> Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity. (cf. Daniel 4:27)<\/p>\n<p>Repentance can prolong prosperity, but promotion of sin leads to destruction.
