Biden’s war on American energy has cost the U.S. economy more than $200 billion in lost domestic energy output from the Trump pro-drilling trend. Right now, our debt is the nation’s most urgent, clear and present danger \u2013 not just to our economic prosperity but to our national security. Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump believed rightly that when America is strong at home with an economy firing on all cylinders, we are strong, respected and feared abroad.<\/p>\n

It’s painful to say, but right now, America is far weaker militarily and economically than we were four years ago. ….<\/p>\n

Then, there is the impact of skyrocketing federal interest payments on the debt. This year, for the first time, federal interest expenses exceed our entire national defense budget. With lower interest rate debt now turning over every day and having to be refinanced by issuing 5% and 6% Treasury bills, we’re facing a death spiral of red ink.<\/p>\n

The United States Deficit Road To Ruin<\/h2>\n

According to the U.S. Treasury, year-end data from September 2023 show that the deficit for the full year 2023 was $1.7 trillion, $320 billion higher than the prior year\u2019s deficit. As a percentage of GDP, the deficit was 6.3%, an increase from 5.4% in FY 2022. This means that the United States will likely post the worst GDP growth excluding debt increases since 1929<\/strong> …<\/p>\n

The United States government is unable to spend less than 22.8% of GDP, and no tax revenue measure can eliminate the deficit.<\/strong> Those who think that taxing the rich would eliminate the deficit should ask how the government would collect $1.7 trillion in additional taxes per year and every year, no matter what the growth of the economy is.<\/p>\n

With $33.6 trillion of public debt and the administration\u2019s own estimate of the accumulated deficit for 2023\u20132022, public debt is going to soar by $14 trillion. No tax measure can eliminate that problem.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Basically, investors are demanding a higher return to lend their money to the U.S. government \u2014 in this case, for 10 years. One reason: Investors seem skittish about rising U.S. government debt, Hunter said. Generally, investors demand a higher return if they perceive a greater risk of the government\u2019s inability to pay back debt in the future.<\/p>\n
