Canada\u2019s euthanasia laws have reached a \u201cnew and more terrifying low,\u201d according to\u00a0Fox News<\/em>\u00a0host\u00a0Tucker Carlson.<\/p>\n

He noted during a recent edition of \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d there had been a \u201cvery big change in Western civilization<\/a>\u201d as Canada is set to legalize new standards for euthanasia in March 2023, and is set to extend medical assistance in dying (MAiD) to those with mental illness after a temporary exclusion expires.<\/p>\n

Prior to the passage of the bill, MAiD eligibility was based only on having a \u201cgrievous and irremediable medical condition.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2021, data showed that\u00a010,064 people in Canada died with medical aid<\/a>, which is a massive 32 percent increase compared to 2020. The report said that 3.3 percent of all deaths in Canada in 2021 were assisted deaths. On a provincial level, British Columbia has the highest rate at 4.8 percent, while Quebec comes second at 4.7 percent.<\/p>\n

However, advocates say that it isn\u2019t surprising because Canadians are growing more comfortable with MAiD, although many expect the rising rates to level off soon. …<\/p>\n

There are states in the U.S. that already\u00a0approved medical-assisted suicide<\/a>, namely Oregon, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. Montana\u2019s Supreme Court has also ruled that state laws do not prohibit medical aid in dying.<\/p>\n
