EU leaders fear that if reelected, the former president could cut US aid to Ukraine \u2014 but they may just be able to bribe him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With United States President Joe Biden and his predecessor currently tied in the polls, Europe is waking up to the possibility that Donald Trump may well win back the White House. And preparing for another potential Trump presidency is now preoccupying European minds.<\/p>\n

As it stands, Europe\u2019s biggest fear is that the Republican firebrand could cut U.S. support for Ukraine. …<\/p>\n

Trump doesn\u2019t care for Europe\u2019s security order either. He could, however, be tempted into it \u2014 if it seems profitable.<\/p>\n

As president, Trump was initially skeptical of delivering arms to Ukraine until his staffers persuaded<\/a> him that weapons exports would be lucrative for U.S. industry and that Kyiv would pay. …<\/p>\n

Thus, Europe should take advantage of this focus on money to ensure aid for Ukraine, and announce a multiyear purchase of U.S.-made arms for Kyiv. This would help Ukraine, it would help Europe, and it would also help the transactional Trump see that he, too, has something at stake.<\/p>\n

It would cost Europe roughly \u20ac45 billion a year<\/a> to cover the bill for America\u2019s Ukraine support. …<\/p>\n

Regardless of the 2024 presidential election\u2019s outcome, Europe would be well advised not to put all its eggs in the U.S. basket and look to strengthen its own defense capabilities and industry. But Ukraine\u2019s needs are short-term. A big multiyear package to buy U.S.-made arms for Ukraine would thus be a major investment in European security.<\/p>\n

It would be a humiliating offer, surely. But it would be a deal Trump couldn\u2019t refuse. https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/europe-should-offer-trump-a-ukraine-deal-he-cant-refuse\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While Donald Trump does value money and other financial considerations, he has multiple priorities and does not like humiliation. So, Ukraine should not count on 1) the EU trying to bride Donald Trump and 2) Donald Trump accepting that type of bribe (especially since Politico<\/em> has not published the scenario as a humiliating bribe). And even if he did accept such, Donald Trump 1) has not been nominated officially yet, 2) has not won the 2024 election, and 3) even if he does, he would not take office until 2025 and that might be too late for Ukraine even if he were to accept such an offer.<\/p>\n

As far as Europe goes, notice something else related to it and Donald Trump from the Washington Post<\/em>:<\/p>\n

Why Europe is rearming: It isn\u2019t just about Russia<\/span><\/h2>\n

So what\u2019s it worried about?<\/p>\n

Beyond Russia\u2019s snarling, there is a simple explanation: Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As the New York Times reported<\/a>, Trump repeatedly told White House aides in 2018 that he wanted to pull the United States out of NATO, a move that would leave the bloc leaderless and neutered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt would be extremely stressful if America pivoted away from Europe, and that\u2019s the worry with Trump,\u201d a top European diplomat told me. \u201cEvery foreign ministry is thinking about this.\u201d …<\/p>\n

\n

Warsaw\u2019s buildup is also a hedge against Trump\u2019s return to the White House and the chance that he will set NATO adrift.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

That prospect has set alarm bells ringing across Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In Germany, for years a defense-spending laggard, Chancellor Olaf Scholz last week committed the government to a long-term military expansion<\/a>, at a cost of tens of billions of dollars annually through the 2030s. …<\/p>\n

President Emmanuel Macron has embarked on France\u2019s biggest military spending increase<\/a> in a half-century, earmarking nearly $450 billion to boost outlays through the end of the decade by a third<\/a>. His parallel effort to push Europe to take ownership of its security through better military and industrial coordination \u2014 and less reliance on Washington\u2019s weaponry and leadership … https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2023\/11\/20\/europe-military-defense-russia-trump\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Yes, Europe is trying to rearm and part of the reason has to do with the prospect of another Donald Trump presidency.<\/p>\n

This should not be a surprise to long-term readers of this COGwriter Church of God n\\News page.<\/p>\n

Notice something that was posted one day BEFORE the US election in 2016:<\/p>\n

If Donald Trump is elected, the Germans will see this as proof that they cannot rely on the USA for their defense, etc. Germany will push for a European army. BERLIN (Own report) \u2013 Thanks to Donald Trump\u2019s electoral victory,
\nBerlin sees its opportunities for pushing for the creation of EU
\nmilitary structures and possibly European nuclear armed forces
\ngrowing. Wolfgang Ischinger, the influential diplomat and Chairman of
\nthe Munich Security Conference, is \u201choping\u201d that the \u201cTrump shock\u201d has
\n\u201cdramatically increased\u201d the willingness to militarize the European

\nnuclear weapons. However, for this, the French and British arsenals
\nwould be insufficient, according to a suggestive article published in

The making of a European Defence Union<\/h2>\n

12 December 2017<\/p>\n

The decision to establish the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) and plans presented by 25 European Union member states to work together on a first set of 17 collaborative defence projects has been welcomed by the European Commission.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn June I said it was time to wake up the Sleeping Beauty of the Lisbon Treaty: permanent structured cooperation,\u201d said European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker<\/strong>. \u201cSix months later, it is happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Juncker said Europe cannot and should not outsource our security and defence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe European Defence Fund that the European Commission proposed will complement these efforts and act as a further incentive for defence cooperation \u2013 including potential funding for some of the projects presented today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

According to a European Commission press release, PESCO is an instrument in the EU Treaty to enable willing member states to pursue greater cooperation in defence and security.<\/p>\n

On November 13, there were 23 member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden) that took a first step towards launching the Permanent Structured Cooperation on defence. I have warned for some time that the rise and\/or election of Donald Trump would trigger the desire for a European army and additional European unity, as would the Brexit vote.<\/p>\n

Europe’s PESCO is now in place.<\/p>\n

And, partially because of Russia’s ‘Special Military Operation’ into Ukraine, the Europeans increased military spending.<\/p>\n

I made a number of warnings about Donald Trump years ago, which he has at least partially fulfilled.<\/p>\n

Let’s consider four here.<\/p>\n

WARNING ONE: Donald Trump will offend the Europeans.<\/p>\n

The Bible shows that the USA will be betrayed by friends (cf. Lamentations 1:1-2) and the USA will one day be taken over by a European led power (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Here are some warnings I made that Donald Trump would offend the Europeans:<\/p>\n

Should he actually become President of the United States, his flamboyance and brashness are bound to offend the Europeans, and ultimately that will not turn out well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39). (Thiel B. Can Donald Trump make America great again?<\/a> COGwriter, December 20, 2015)<\/p>\n

Certainly. There are many examples, but here are three: Shadow president or mere shadow? In Europe, Pence seeks to reassure allies unnerved by Trump<\/a> and G20 concludes with increased tension with the USA; Pope Francis pushes for federal Europe<\/a> and Angela Merkel again says EU \u2018can\u2019t rely\u2019 on USA, FPIF says \u2018Europe should bolt NATO\u2019<\/a> and Europe concerned about Donald Trump<\/a> and \u2018Trump Claims Germany Owes $1 Trillion In NATO Obligations\u2019 \u2018A European travel ban on Americans could be a sign of disastrous things to come \u2026\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The reaction of many leaders in Europe to US President Donald Trump\u2019s trade statements and his withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear arms deal has led some to state this is a \u201crevolt\u201d from Europe. Some say \u2018America First.\u2019 should lead to \u2018Europe First.\u2019 It has been reported that Europe needs to be \u201cclever\u201d as it develops its military and economy to be less dependent upon the USA. EU Council President Donald Tusk tweeted that with friends like the USA, who needs enemies. EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said , \u201cWe have to replace the United States.\u201d Will some of the unintended consequences of Donald Trump\u2019s actions lead to World War Three and the end of the USA? Does the Bible teach this? Does the Bible teach that friendly allies will become enemies? Will an ally that defeats the USA say it happened because of being clever? Are things the same or are we seeing real changes that align with properly understood biblical prophecies? \u201cEurope is the answer,\u201d Schulz said. \u201cCloser European cooperation on all fronts is the answer to Donald Trump. Above all, we cannot let ourselves be subjugated to Trump\u2019s rearmament policy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of his statements may be leading to the rise of the prophesied King of the North<\/a>, who is to be the final leader of the Beast of Revelation<\/a> (Revelation 13:1). (Thiel B. Some additional European unity will be needed for that to occur (cf. Revelation 17:12-13) and Donald Trump has already been a motivator for this.<\/p>\n

How did I know Donald Trump could trigger this?<\/p>\n

The Bible shows that Europe will rise up again (Revelation 13:1-10), have a great army (Daniel 11:25), and will one day defeat the USA (Daniel 11:39). Because of where we are in God\u2019s 6000\/7000 year plan (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?<\/a>), the timing of Donald Trump and Europe\u2019s disdain for him fit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to address President Trump directly, who for a long time now has been criticizing Europe almost daily for, in his view, insufficient contributions to the common defense capabilities,\u201d Tusk said after signing a cooperation agreement between the European Union and NATO. …<\/p>\n

\u201cDear America, appreciate your allies. After all, you don\u2019t have that many. WARNING THREE: This warning was that Donald Trump\u2019s rise would encourage the Europeans to arm:<\/p>\n

Since 2015, I have written that Donald Trump\u2019s rise would be a factor in Europe deciding it needs more unity and its own army. (Thiel B. As foretold here, more calls for a European army! 10 November 2016<\/p>\n

Europe should build its own army and not rely on security guarantees from Washington, the European Commission president said following the election of Donald Trump. At the same time, Jean-Claude Juncker called for the preservation of the transatlantic partnership. \u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need more security in Europe, and I do not mean just the anti-terror fight,\u201d<\/em> Juncker said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalking about security we need a different way of organizing a European defense \u2026 the French National Assembly in 1954 prevented the European community of defense.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe need it now. The idea that the Americans will eternally see to \u2026 European security is not true. Independent of the outcome of the US election, the Americans will not see to Europe\u2019s security forever. We have to do it ourselves. And this is why we need a new approach to the European community of defense, including a European army,\u201d<\/em> Juncker said. \u2026<\/p>\n

The EU ministers are expected to meet in Brussels on Monday to discuss plans to strengthen the EU military cooperation and capabilities. https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/366177-european-army-security-juncker\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Furthermore, in December 2017, Europe\u2019s new military cooperation organization, called PESCO (Permanent Structured Cooperation), formed (see PESCO: The making of a European Defence Union<\/a>) and announced plans related to military cooperation and technology (see PESCO moving forward with technology<\/a>).<\/p>\n

WARNING FOUR: This was a warning related to the fourth: Germany will want a stronger military.<\/p>\n

The above was partially based upon Isaiah 10:5-12 which tells of a Germanic-influenced power taking over places, which in the end time include the USA (see also Germany in Biblical Prophecy<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In addition, a survey in late December 2016 found that the majority of Germans want to build a formidable European army. (Thiel B. Majority of Germans want a European army<\/a>.
