Russia’s Supreme Court Building (photo by Stas Lobov<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation took a major step against the LGBTQ+ agenda:<\/p>\n November 30, 2023<\/p>\n Russia\u2019s Supreme Court on Thursday effectively outlawed LGBTQ+ activism, in the most drastic step against advocates of gay, lesbian and transgender rights in the increasingly conservative country.<\/p>\n In a statement announcing a lawsuit filed to the court earlier this month, the Justice Ministry argued that authorities had identified \u201csigns and manifestations of an extremist nature\u201d by an LGBTQ+ \u201cmovement\u201d operating in Russia, including \u201cincitement of social and religious discord,\u201d …<\/p>\n The Supreme Court ruling is the latest step in a decadelong crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights in Russia begun under President Vladimir Putin, who has put \u201ctraditional family values\u201d at the cornerstone of his rule.<\/p>\n In 2013, the Kremlin adopted the first legislation restricting LGBTQ+ rights, known as the \u201cgay propaganda\u201d law, banning any public endorsement of \u201cnontraditional sexual relations\u201d among minors. In 2020, constitutional reforms pushed through by Putin to extend his rule by two more terms also included a provision to outlaw same-sex marriage. …<\/p>\n Another law passed earlier this year … prohibited any \u201cmedical interventions aimed at changing the sex of a person,\u201d as well as changing one\u2019s gender in official documents and public records. It also amended Russia\u2019s Family Code by listing gender change as a reason to annul a marriage and adding those \u201cwho had changed gender\u201d to a list of people who can\u2019t become foster or adoptive parents. https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-lgbtq-crackdown-extremist-supreme-court-1b8f4cd8708d1c6cf3486c5f27fd7354<\/a><\/p>\n Russia’s Supreme Court has declared what it calls “the international LGBT public movement” an extremist organisation and banned its activities across the country.<\/b><\/p>\n 30 November 2023<\/p>\n At the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, Vitaly Milonov, a famously homophobic MP from the ruling party, United Russia, said the ban on LGBT groups was “not about sexual minorities or the private life of individuals”.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n “It’s more about the political agenda proclaimed by this LGBT international movement,” he told me.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n “They have their own tasks, their own goals. They act as a political force, a political structure and the goals of this structure contravene the Russian Constitution.” …<\/p>\n Mr Milonov replied. “We can ban any activities from LGBT international organisations here in Russia. That’s nice. We don’t need them.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n “And I’m looking forward to the next step: banning the six-colour rainbow flag. We don’t need this flag. It’s a symbol of the fight with the traditional family. I hope that no-one can show this flag in Russia.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Under Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin has embraced an ideology centred around conservative thinking and “traditional family values”. The authorities portray LGBT activism as something inherently Western and hostile to Russia. Pressure on the LGBT community is presented as a means of defending the moral fabric of Russia. …<\/p>\n “I think [the court hearing] is linked to the presidential election next March,” believes Sergei Troshin. “[The authorities] are creating an artificial enemy.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n “They say ‘We are battling the West’. The battle with LGBT people fits in with this anti-Western rhetoric. Fighting both the West and the LGBT community is popular amongst the conservative, anti-Western part of society. So this topic will be pushed in the run-up to the election.” https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-67565509<\/a><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n Anyway, this move by the Russian Supreme Court was not unexpected as it fits a trend from Russia.<\/p>\n For example, back in late 2021, Vladimir Putin held his annual end-of-the year Q&A session and made some true statements that Western leaders did not like:<\/p>\n December 24, 2021<\/p>\n Speaking to journalists at an end-of-year press conference, Putin warned that the elites in the West are deliberately trying to pervert nature by claiming that men can be women and women can be men.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s inevitable [that these concepts will arrive in Russia],\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Putin warned.\u00a0\u201cIf someone thinks men and women are the same thing, let them think that, but let us think about common sense.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI believe that the traditional approach is correct. Male is male, female is female, mother is mother, and father is father. I sincerely hope that our society has the moral armor to protect us against this,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Putin added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n He also spoke about the far-left movement in the US to allow inmates to legally change their gender to female in order to enter women\u2019s prisons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cTo fight against that, we should not just shout and point fingers, but we should support our own traditional values,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he declared.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Rt.com<\/a> reports: Putin\u2019s statement isn\u2019t the first time a senior Russian politician has spoken out against modern, progressive ideas in regards to gender issues. Earlier this month, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said that it is\u00a0\u201cunacceptable\u201d<\/em>\u00a0to impose foreign values on a country without taking into account its history, faith, religion, and national characteristics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThey are trying to impose alien values on us. And not only on us but on the advancement in the world in general,\u201d <\/em>she said. \u201cIt\u2019s sexual minority rights. There are already 85 genders in Europe. It is unacceptable for us.\u201d <\/em>https:\/\/newspunch.com\/president-putin-i-will-never-allow-the-new-world-order-to-pervert-nature-there-are-only-two-genders\/<\/a> As far as two genders go, females have xx chromosomes and males have xy. There are also differences in bone structure, brain connectivity, voice, blood thickness, muscle\/fat composition, etc. Surgery does not change one\u2019s sex\u2013it changes mainly how one may appear. Let me add that some in Europe have at least publicly suggested that gender mutilating surgeries be at least reduced\u2013so not every leader outside of Russia is insane about this.<\/p>\n As far as the Putin Administration goes, it has been consistently supporting the idea of biblical marriage as well as not pushing the LGBTQ agenda. Actually, it has long been my view that it is precisely because of that that Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration turned against Russia years ago (I figured that out after reading Hillary Clinton’s book Hard Choices<\/em> as she was not pleased with Russia’s response to her pushing LGBTQ matters inside of Russia). That led to US support to overthrow the Russia-supporting, lawfully-elected government of Ukraine. And is still a factor in how various politicians in the US view Russia.<\/p>\n Vladimir Putin has been the most powerful political leader in the world to take a stand against several parts of the LGBTQ+ agenda, vulgarity (see Russia\u2019s Vladimir Putin takes a stand against vulgar language<\/a>), and some other sins that plague Western society. China’s President has taken some views as well, but not quite as publicly and on as much as Vladimir Putin has.<\/p>\n Billy Graham\u2019s son Franklin Graham made some comments some time ago related to Vladimir Putin:<\/p>\n July 12, 2017<\/p>\n In 2014, Graham published an opinion piece<\/a> about the Russian president\u2019s decision to sign a law barring the distribution of \u201cpropaganda of nontraditional sexual relations\u201d to children. The law, which was widely perceived to be homophobic<\/a>, stirred controversy ahead of the 2014 Olympic games in Sochi. But Graham defended it anyway, saying America\u2019s embrace of LGBTQ rights amounts to \u201csecularism\u201d that \u201cis as godless as communism.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn my opinion, Putin is right on these issues,\u201d Graham wrote. \u201cObviously, he may be wrong about many things, but he has taken a stand to protect his nation\u2019s children from the damaging effects of any gay and lesbian agenda.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n He also lauded Putin\u2019s pledge to protect Christians in Syria, noting how it was \u201cone justification for his support of the Assad regime in Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s obvious that President Obama and his administration are pushing the gay-lesbian agenda in America today and have sold themselves completely to that which is contrary to God\u2019s teaching,\u201d Graham wrote. \u201cIn my opinion, Putin is right on these issues. Obviously, he may be wrong about many things, but he has taken a stand to protect his nation\u2019s children from the damaging effects of any gay and lesbian agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIsn\u2019t it sad, though, that America\u2019s own morality has fallen so far that on this issue\u200a\u2014\u200aprotecting children from any homosexual agenda or propaganda\u200a\u2014\u200aRussia\u2019s standard is higher than our own?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n \u201cPray for the President of Russia, [who] defends traditional Christianity,\u201d Graham reportedly said. \u2026<\/p>\n Pat Buchanan\u200a\u2014\u200aanother leader of the Religious Right\u200a\u2014\u200apublished<\/a> his own piece about Russia potentially replacing the U.S. as a bastion of \u201cChristian values,\u201d asking \u201cWhose side is God on now?\u201d \u2026<\/p>\n Graham still invited a delegation from the ROC to the 2017 event, and it was moved to D.C. at the suggestion<\/a> of ROC external relations head Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of Moscow\u200a\u2014\u200athe same man who helped Graham come up with the idea for the conference in the first place. https:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/religious-right-russia-3e80e2ea2e4a\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice also something else from even further in the past:<\/p>\n 22 September 2014<\/p>\n Well, it is true, is it not, that President Vladimir Putin stands virtually alone among national leaders of the major powers in publicly proclaiming his Christian identity, and in condemning homosexual \u201cmarriage\u201d \u2014 while leaders of the so-called Christian West have adopted the politically correct line that these unnatural unions are now sacrosanct? And is it not true that Putin and the Russian government have been spending hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild hundreds of Russian Orthodox churches destroyed during the militant atheism of the Soviet era? Has he not restored sacred holidays of the Julian Christian calendar? Did he not sign a national law last year outlawing advertisements for abortion? To which we must answer: yes, yes, yes, yes; true, true, true, true.<\/p>\n Additional \u201cfacts\u201d can be cited to paint an even more striking image of Putin as pious champion of Christianity: crossing himself and kissing the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary that he presented to Pope Francis during his 2013 visit to the Vatican; numerous appearances with (and blessings and endorsements from) Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian church leaders; signing into law a \u201cban on the propaganda of homosexuality and pedophilia\u201d directed at children, while President Obama promotes the LBGT agenda at every level and every opportunity; speaking out against the persecution and murder of Christians by Islamic jihadists in Syria and Iraq. \u2026<\/p>\n In his current ruse as Defender of the Faith, Putin is not only channeling Stalin, but also Lenin, that original Bolshevik persecutor of the church. Lenin was the supreme pragmatist, happily willing to use \u201cwhatever works,\u201d and constantly at odds with rigid communist \u201cpurists\u201d who failed to grasp the necessity of operational flexibility in the pursuit of the final objective. http:\/\/www.thenewamerican.com\/world-news\/europe\/item\/19162-putin-defender-of-christian-faith-and-morality<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Vladimir Putin has been willing to take biblically-consistent stands on moral issues that few other influential leaders have.<\/p>\n None of this is said to justify militaristic actions, but on LGBTQ+ matters, Vladimir Putin’s public positions as well as those of other branches of the Russian government, have been far more pro-biblical than US President Joe Biden’s and his Administration views, which are normally anti-biblical.<\/p>\n Vladimir Putin believes that he is standing for traditional Russian Orthodox values. This is one reason that the Russian Orthodox Church has supported his Special Military Operation into Ukraine.<\/p>\n God did not create humans to be sexually immoral:<\/p>\n 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
