COGwriter<\/a><\/p>\n The CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) may have found something both interesting and profound:<\/p>\n Puzzling results from Cern, home of the LHC, have confounded physicists – because it appears subatomic particles have exceeded the speed of light.\u00a0 Neutrinos sent through the ground from Cern toward the Gran Sasso laboratory 732km away seemed to show up a tiny fraction of a second early.<\/span><\/p>\n A report will soon be online to draw closer scrutiny to a result that, if true, would upend a century of physics<\/strong>…<\/span><\/p>\n “My dream would be that another, independent experiment finds the same thing – then I would be relieved,” Dr Ereditato said. But for now, he explained, “we are not claiming things, we want just to be helped by the community in understanding our crazy result – because it is crazy”.\u00a0 “And of course the consequences can be very serious<\/strong>.”\u00a0 http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-15017484<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n The CERN project continues to advance, and is apparently the biggest physics project in the world–and of course, it is a European, not American, project. Large physics projects tend to produce military weaponry.\u00a0 Now if the Large Hadron Collider does have military potential, which I have long indicated that it does, all should understand that it is likely that the Europeans and not the Americans will benefit from it:<\/p>\n Those spinoffs now will invigorate the careers and labs of Europe, not the United States, pointed out Steven Weinberg, a physicist at the University of Texas in Austin, who won the Nobel Prize for work that will be tested in the new collider.
