New Study: Face Masks Completely Ineffective Against COVID Omicron Variant<\/h2>\n

Wearing face coverings did nothing to reduce the risk of infection by the Omicron variant of COVID-19, according to a new study<\/a> from the University of East Anglia. The researchers utilized data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) COVID survey in England, which estimated infection rates.<\/p>\n

From November 2021 to May 2022, the ONS surveyed individuals about their habits, including mask-wearing, work patterns, and travel, to determine if these factors correlated with infection risk. The study concluded that face coverings did not reduce the risk of infection by the Omicron variant.<\/p>\n

However, the researchers noted that during the initial wave of COVID-19, before Omicron emerged, mask-wearing was associated with a decreased risk of infection. I was opposed to general mask use from the beginning for many reasons, including the beliefs that they would cause more harm than good by interfering with the development of natural immunity as well as potential toxins being repeatedly breathed in with N95 and other masks. Plus, most masks still allow viruses, which are much smaller than bacteria, to pass through.<\/p>\n
