Russia is rolling out the red carpet to its geopolitical allies as it hosts the latest BRICS summit on Tuesday, pushing its agenda to create a \u201cnew world order\u201d that challenges the West.<\/p>\n

The group was initially comprised of Brazil, Russia, India and China before South Africa joined in 2010, giving the organization of rapidly economically-developing nations its current name. It has since morphed into a geopolitical forum for the world\u2019s most powerful nations outside of the West.<\/p>\n

\n
The BRICS now have additional clout after Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates joined the group in January, with membership to the bloc becoming an attractive prospect for countries looking to boost trade, investment and economic development.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Russia has been trying to woo what\u2019s collectively known as the \u201cGlobal South\u201d \u2014 or economically-developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America \u2014 and contrast to the \u201cGlobal North\u201d of industrialized nations, traditionally led by the U.S.<\/p>\n

Russian President Vladimir Putin frequently comments on his ambition\u00a0to establish what he calls a \u201cnew world order\u201d<\/a> to rival and usurp the geopolitical and economic pre-eminence enjoyed by the U.S.-led West. …<\/p>\n

The 16th BRICS summit is taking place under the theme of \u201cstrengthening multilateralism for\u00a0just global development and\u00a0security,\u201d with the Kremlin stating that BRICS leaders will exchange views on\u00a0\u201cpressing issues on\u00a0the\u00a0global and\u00a0regional agenda,\u201d as well as on \u201cthe\u00a0three main pillars of\u00a0cooperation identified by\u00a0the\u00a0Russian chairmanship: politics and\u00a0security, the\u00a0economy and\u00a0finance, and\u00a0cultural and\u00a0humanitarian ties.\u201d<\/p>\n

What is on the summit\u2019s agenda?<\/h2>\n

The central theme that unites BRICS members is their disillusionment with Western-led institutions of global governance, especially when it comes to the economy.<\/p>\n

The sanctions imposed on Russia after its 2022 invasion of Ukraine have spooked many Global South nations worried that the West could weaponise tools of global finance against them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the aftermath of the war in Gaza, Russia and China have more effectively harnessed this anti-Western sentiment, capitalising on frustrations over Western double standards as well as the use of sanctions and economic coercion by the West,\u201d Asli Aydintasbas, a Turkish foreign policy expert, said in comments to the Brookings Institute, a Washington, DC, think tank. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean that middle powers want to trade US dominance for Chinese, but it means they are open to aligning with Russia and China for a more fragmented and autonomous world.\u201d<\/p>\n

To that end, BRICS partners want to reduce their dependence on the United States dollar and the SWIFT system, an international messaging network for financial transactions that Russian banks were cut off from in 2022.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Lula proposed a trading currency for BRICS members.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

BRICS members are now working on using their national currencies more for bilateral trade to insulate them from currency fluctuations and cut their dependence on the dollar.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin has called it one of the “largest-scale foreign policy events ever” in Russia.<\/p>\n

“The clear message is that attempts to isolate Russia have failed,” thinks Chris Weafer, founding partner of consultancy firm Macro-Advisory.<\/p>\n

“It’s a big part of the messaging from the Kremlin that Russia is withstanding sanctions. We know there are severe cracks beneath the surface. But at a geopolitical level Russia has all these friends and they\u2019re all going to be Russia’s partners.” …<\/p>\n

The Brics nations account for 45% of the global population. Added together, members’ economies are worth more than $28.5tn (\u00a322tn). That’s around 28% of the global economy. …<\/p>\n

Russian officials have indicated that another 30 countries want to join Brics or seek closer ties with the club. Some of these nations will take part in the summit. In Kazan this week expect a lot of talk about Brics representing the “global majority”.<\/p>\n

But apart from providing Vladimir Putin his moment on the geopolitical stage, what is the event likely to achieve?<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019The Russian idea is that if you create a platform where there is China, Russia, India and Brazil and Saudi Arabia, many countries that are vital partners for the U.S., the U.S. will not be ready to go after this platform and sanction it\u2019,\u201d Gabuyev said.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

While the US dollar is still the world’s major trading and reserve currency, the BRICS+ group of nations is working to change that.<\/p>\n

And when enough nations agree (or the USA is conquered, whichever happens first), it will happen.<\/p>\n

That said, do those in BRICS really want to push aside the USA dollar?<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

Those in Iran and some of the Arab lands, along with nations such as Brazil, China, and India have discussed plans for the removal of the dominance of the U.S.A. in global trade as well. The former (again current) President of Brazil, Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, even claimed that eliminating the U.S. dollar\u2019s reserve currency status was one of the reasons that the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) was formed in the first place.\u00a0[i]<\/a>\u00a0Others have\u00a0 noted that bypassing the USA dollar is still an object of BRICS\u2014and officially BRICS nations \u201care currently working on setting up a new global reserve currency,\u201d[ii]<\/a>\u00a0which may have gold-backing.[iii]<\/a>\u00a0The expansion of BRICS (which is in progress) may ultimately even hurt Australian trade as well as \u201cseverely weaken primacy of the US Dollar as an international currency.\u201d[iv]<\/a><\/p>\n

The Bible clearly warns against cheapening the money supply and encourages having money hold its value (Proverbs 25:4 Isaiah 1:25, Ezekiel 22:18-22). Debt is also warned against (Habakkuk 2:6-8). Yet policies enacted under the Obama, Trump, and Biden Administrations, following certain other administrations, have ignored these warnings.<\/p>\n

The BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) have as one of their founding goals, to eliminate the need to use USA dollars in cross-border trade. Six additional nations have been invited to join BRICS in 2024, and India reports that six more are also being looked at. The BRICS nations have already began to drop the USA dollar for some cross-border trading with Russia and China indicating that they had almost done so completely in late 2023. What will happen to the economy and value of the USA dollar if more and more nations stop using it as a primary reserve and trading currency? What about hyperinflation? Does the Bible prophesy destruction for a highly indented nation in the end time? Is the USA the most indebted nation of all time? What about the intent and use of the Euro?
